    Aberg -16, MacIntyre -14 (4)

    Martin Watt

    A par apiece on four.

Ludvig Aberg had the better birdie glimpse, from around 15 feet, but both players remain +1 for the day.

  2. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -15 (5)

Adam Scott is back. After bogeying the first and making a mess of the third - that he rescued for par - he's birdied the fourth and fifth.

His tee shot from the sixth isn't bad either, and he's got a birdie chance right in front of the media tent.

  3. Postpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 14 July

    McIlroy -13 (8)

It's been the story of Rory McIlroy's week - another birdie look drifts just wide.

If he's going to defend his title, the putter has to warm up and quickly...

  4. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 July

    Im -13, Theegala -14 (6)

Sungjae Im and Sahith Theegala both play delightful tee shots at the par-three sixth.

The South Korean's birdie putt trundles past the hole, and Theegala can't hole his putt either.

    As you were.

  5. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 14 July

    Aberg -16, MacIntyre -14 (3)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Having hacked out the trees, Ludvig Aberg ends up with an untidy bogey six.

Bob MacIntyre can't get up and down for birdie.

    Both will be kicking themselves.

Aberg's lead is down to one, with Collin Morikawa now heading the chase.

  6. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 14 July

    Morikawa -15, Scott -14 (4)

Back-to-back birdies for Collin Morikawa and that puts him into outright second place on the leaderboard.

Adam Scott birdies too, and he's back to par.

  7. Bogey for McIlroypublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 14 July

    McIlroy -13 (7)

Rory McIlroy tugged his second shot at seven left of the green, and his chip shot comes up way short.

It's a lengthy putt for par that misses the left-hand side of the hole.

The Northern Irishman drops back to 13-under.

  8. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 14 July

    Rai -14 (63)

Aaron Rai finishes with a par on the 18th - a hole that has proved tricky for some of our golfers in the last few days.

That's a card of 63 for Rai which moves him to a share of third place.

Normally, you'd happy with that, but three golfers have already gone under that today.

  9. Postpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -14 (2)

Bob MacIntyre's second shot is a driver off the deck, a la Adam Scott.

It's not got the same outcome though. He slices it into the rough on the left hand side.

  10. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 14 July

    Theegala -13 (4)

Sahith Theegala's second shot at the fourth flights over the green, and his three-foot putt then slips round the corner.

A nasty bogey, he won't be happy with that.

Tree trouble for Ludvig Aberg on the third.

His drive us somewhere in there.

Bob MacIntyre is safely on the fairway.

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -14 (2)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Nervy start from the home favourite as he cards bogey on two.

MacIntyre could only splash his bunker shot to the fringe of the green.

Ludvig Aberg is now three clear after his par.

  13. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 14 July

    Theegala -14 (3)

Sahith Theegala also joins Rory McIlroy and Aaron Rai after chipping his third shot to within two feet of the hole on the long par five third.

Meanwhile, Bob MacIntyre is in trouble in the bunker. I'll let Martin Watt bring us the latest...

  14. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 July

    McIlroy -14 (5)

    George O'Neill
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

McIlroy’s chip at five is on the perfect line, but has a tiny bit too much pace.

It clatters into the flag stick and rolls to a couple of feet. He knocks it in to move to fourteen under.

Huge cheers from the large crowds following him round.

    Rai -14 (17)

Aaron Rai is at the 17th - a getable par three.

He flights it beautifully, landing it on the bank just beyond the hole and watching it trickle back to within five feet.

He rolls the putt in and goes outright third... for about five seconds.

But who's joined him, George O'Neill?

  16. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15 (1)

Bob MacIntyre is in the rough on the left of the second. It's heavy stuff, and his rescue effort flies to the right of the green and into a bunker.

He doesn't look happy with it at all.

  17. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 14 July

    McIlroy -13 (4)

    George O'Neill
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Rory McIlroy’s length off the tee is on show again at the fifth.

His booming tee shot lands pin-high left, but just scoots off the back.

The Northern Irishman has a good lie and really should get up and down for birdie from there.

Meanwhile, Matteo Manassero is in trouble down the left, just over one of the stone walls dotted around this wonderful course.

  18. Postpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 14 July

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -15 (1)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

    Big save from Bob MacIntyre.

Ludvig Aberg also shows signs of nerves, leaving his birdie attempt longer than he'd like, but both players walk off with par.

  19. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 14 July

    Rai -13 (16)

Come on down, Aaron Rai. The 2020 winner has gone bogey-free today, and is six-under on the 16th.

He's on course for his best round of the event.

  20. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Bob MacIntyre finds trouble to the left off the first tee.

He also has a tree in his line, but does well to chop a shot out of the thick stuff. The ball rolls just off the back of the green, so work to do for par.

Ludvig Aberg has a birdie look from about 20 feet.
