The sun is shining now at the Renaissance Club, and it's up to 17 degrees. Tropical.

My colleague, and sometimes friend, Andrew Petrie has returned to the media tent red-faced having been out on the course.

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Crowds are building nicely in anticipation of home hero Bob MacIntyre teeing off in just over an hour.

The sun is shining and there's barely a breath of wind. Glorious conditions and ripe for low scoring.

  3. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 14 July

Bob MacIntyre is out on the putting green with his caddie, just going through his pre-round routine.

The Scot tees off with Ludvig Aberg in just over an hour's time.

  4. Open spots on the linepublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 14 July

Speaking of Open spots, they are available today for the leading three players who aren't already exempt.

Frenchman Antoine Rozner looks favourite to grab one - he's at -13 before his final round.

Richard Mansell - who is eight under today - Alex Noren and Erik van Rooyen are just a shot further back. All to play for.

    Syme -9 (2)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

It's a par-par start for Scotland's Connor Syme as his birdie try on two slips past.

Syme is chasing a low score today in the hope of snagging an Open spot for next week.

  6. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 14 July

    Kim -10 (62)

Si Woo Kim finishes with four successive birdies to card a quite magnificent 62.

He's in the clubhouse at 10 under and has shown that low scores are very gettable out there today.

    Sharma -8 (65)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Shubhankar Sharma will have nightmares about that finish.

Coming along beautifully on -8 for the day through 17, it all falls apart with a triple-bogey seven at the last.

A wild tee shot was the start of the trouble and he took four shots to reach the fringe of the green.

He signs for a 65 to finish eight under for the tournament but it could have been so much better.

    Noren -12 (6)

Alex Noren is making a move here.

He rolls in a seven-foot putt at the sixth for a fourth birdie in a row.

He's 12 under for the tournament, five shots back from Ludvig Aberg.

Meanwhile, in the media tent, I've got myself a complimentary coffee and slice of cake.

    It's a hard life.

  10. Postpublished at Fitzpatrick -8, R Hojgaard -9 (2)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

"C'mon Fitzy!" Is the cry as Matt Fitzpatrick saunters on to the second green before a two-putt par.

Playing partner Rasmus Hojgaard, having thrown an absolute dart to about six feet, is left scratching his chin in bemusement as his birdie putt fails to drop.

    Hovland -5 (9)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Viktor Hovland misses a simple putt to bogey the ninth. The fan favourite still draws a big crowd, though.

I don’t speak Norwegian, but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t best pleased with his efforts there.

    Griffin -7, Perez -8 (2)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

After opening with a bogey, American Ben Griffin has a chance to snatch that shot right back with a short but tricky birdie look on two.

He starts it a good couple of feet right of the hole but it comes up just short.

Victor Perez also tidies up for par.

It's been a busy 24 hours for Joe Newell.

The new Hibs captain started yesterday as David Gray's side got their Scottish League Cup campaign off to the perfect start with a 5-0 win away to Elgin City.

The midfielder clearly has a day off from training today, and is out and about following the final-round action.

    Thomas -3 (12)

Justin Thomas did scramble a par on the 12th, but it's another wayward tee shot at the next hole, straight into the rough down the right-hand side.

He's not making it easy for himself out there.

  15. Brilliant Bobpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15 (15:40 BST)

It was an incredible front nine that pushed Bob MacIntyre right up the leaderboard yesterday.

Out in 30, an incredible 42-foot putt on the 5th hole was undoubtedly the highlight.

There were another four birdies on the back nine but also two bogeys that included a three-putt on the tricky 18th.

Could that come back to haunt him today?

    Thomas -3 (11)

Round one leader Justin Thomas dropped out of contention after disappointing rounds on Friday and Saturday, and the American is struggling again today.

He is two-over for his round, and his tee shot on the par-three 12th is pushed way right.

He'll have a tough job rescuing par from there.

    Rai -9, Norgaard -9 (5)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

A driveable par four is always a fun watch.

Aaron Rai - the two-gloved Englishman - gets down in two from just shy of the green on the fifth for a second birdie in three holes.

Playing partner Niklas Norgaard also walks off with three for a second successive gain as both players reach -9.

  18. Postpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 14 July

    Sharma -10 (15)

The standout player so far today has been Indian Shubhankar Sharma.

He is seven under through 15 holes, and demonstrating that the course is there to be got by the late starters.

  19. Can McIlroy defend Scottish Open title?published at 13:19 British Summer Time 14 July

What should we expect from Rory McIlroy today? He's five shots behind, but you can never write him off.

A 67 yesterday was his highest round of the tournament, and though he played well he did leave a few shots out there.

"I didn't get off to quite as fast of a start on the front nine as I did [on Friday]. But that's sort of what I'm going to need tomorrow.

"I'm going to need to be at least three-under through five to get myself right up there around the lead and from there just try to keep it going.

"It's up to me to get out there and get off to a fast start and try to put some pressure on the guys behind."

    Harman -8 (3)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Open champ Brian Harman has been solid rather than spectacular this week as he prepares for his Claret Jug defence at Royal Troon.

The American has posted three rounds under par but is surely too far back to contend.

Still, he bags his first birdie of the day on the par-five third to move eight under overall.
