He's cool as a cucumber usually, but there's a huge outpouring of emotion from Scottie Scheffler after sinking the winning putt.

Another huge hug with caddie Ted Scott, before he whips his cap off and acknowledges the crowd - a mixture of sheer joy and sheer relief I think after what he's been through today.

That was some round he's just put together to claim the Wanamaker Trophy.

    Scheffler -11 (71)

    Scottie Scheffler

There it is! It's a bogey on the last but who cares? Certainly Scottie Scheffler doesn't as he wins his third major title with a five-shot victory at Quail Hollow.

He's also halfway to the career Grand Slam too...

  3. Postpublished at 23:46 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (17)

He doesn't show much emotion, but Scottie Scheffler is feeling it now - he hugs his caddie Ted Scott and is close to tears as he walks onto the green to finish this off.

Even for the best player in the world, these majors don't come around too often and you can tell how much this means to him right now.

    Scheffler -12 (17)

Middle of the green? No chance, how about middle of the cup! Well, almost, as Scottie Scheffler isn't too far away from holing out as he attacks the flag, with the ball just sitting down a few feet beyond the flag.

    What a shot!

  5. Riley finishes tied for secondpublished at 23:43 British Summer Time 18 May

Davis Riley bounced back from an eight on the seventh

It's a bogey-bogey finish for JT Poston. A disappointing finish but it will be his best finish in a major by far in a tie for fifth.

Davis Riley does get his par though so he will finish in a tie for second alongside Bryson DeChambeau and Harris English.

A gutsy performance from 28-year-old Riley given his horrific triple-bogey eight on the seventh.

He finished tied 13th in the 2022 US PGA so this is the biggest week of his major career.

  6. Postpublished at 23:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (17)

Scottie Scheffler has a six-shot lead and he's happy to use it, as he's in the rough on 18 but has no intention of going for the green and risk hitting the creek, so just dinks it back out onto the fairway and will no doubt aim for the heart of the putting surface here.

  7. One more to go...published at 23:37 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (17)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Scottie Scheffler hung his tee shot on 17 miles out to the right to stay as far away from the water as possible - and you can afford to do that when you've got a short game like Scottie Scheffler has as he stabbed a little runner of a chip right across the dancefloor and then rolled in his putt for a par three.

One more hole to go with a six-shot lead, I think I know who might be winning this...

  8. 'Rahm will take the positives'published at 23:33 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -4 (73)

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live at Quail Hollow

Rahm won't read too much into it [his finish]. He did all the hard work and got into position, but golf can be like that, it can take things away from you pretty quickly.

The fact he got into contention by playing so solidly for over three-and-a-half rounds, he'll be pretty pleased with and shows his game is pretty sharp.

He'll take the positives. He'll be frustrated and annoyed at how it played out.

  9. 'Rahm eaten up by Green Mile'published at 23:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -4 (73)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live at Quail Hollow

Rahm was the man right in the thick of this, but he eventually comes home in 39. He was revelling in the contest but it all fizzled out on the Green Mile which ate him up and spat him down the leaderboard.

  10. Miserable conclusion for Rahmpublished at 23:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -4 (73)

Jon Rahm has played some superb golf today and despite playing a pretty incredible chip from a nightmare position at the back right of the 18th green, he is not going to walk off with anything less than a six.

The Spaniard has finished bogey, double bogey, double bogey.

He really did not deserve that.

  11. Great parpublished at 23:25 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (16)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

That's as safe a par as you're going to get on 16, which remember is the third hardest hole on the course today, playing 0.3 over par.

Just three birdies on this hole today with 20 bogeys and four doubles or worse, so to walk off with a stress-free par is a brilliant effort from Scottie Scheffler at this stage.

  12. Bogey for Poston, birdie for Rileypublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 18 May

    Poston -6, Riley -6 (17)

JT Poston's hand comes off the club as he sprays his shot into the par-three 17th out to the right.

He pitches up to 15 feet but his putt slides past on the right. An untimely bogey.

His playing partner Davis Riley makes a lovely two though so he moves into a share of second place. He's had three birdies and no bogeys since that ruinous triple-bogey eight on the seventh.

Scheffler now leads by six. The chasing pack have faltered over the past hour.

  13. Postpublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -6 (17)

Jon Rahm has a horrible shot here, well below his feet.

He just wants to get this round over and done with now. He scythes his ball out of the rough on the left, on to the banking just to the right of the green by the cart path.

Will he even finish in the top 10?

  14. Rahm in the water againpublished at 23:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -6 (17)

This is a sad conclusion to Jon Rahm's round. He powers his drive left and it scurries into the stream that harangues that side of the hole.

    Another penalty drop incoming.

  15. Postpublished at 23:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (15)

Scottie Scheffler finds the bunker off the 16th tee but plays a well educated escape that just pulls up short of the green, but well clear of any trouble such as the bunker right or all the water left.

That's a smart play and a "well executed shot dude" - as Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott put it.

  16. Postpublished at 23:15 British Summer Time 18 May

    Poston -7 (16)

JT Poston now finds himself in solo second. He drives into the bunker to the right of the 16th fairway and hammers it out to just short of the green.

A tidy chip up to about four feet sets up a par. Steady stuff.

The American, who went bogey-free over 72 holes during his 2019 Wydnham Championship win, has never finished higher than 30th in a major.

He's set to improve on that dramatically this evening.

  17. Eyes on the prizepublished at 23:15 British Summer Time 18 May

the Wanamaker TrophyImage source, Getty Images

The prize money for the 2025 PGA Championship is a record $19m (£14.3m).

The figure is $500,000 more than the 2024 edition at Valhalla, when $18.5m was available, with Xander Schauffele claiming the first prize of $3.3m when he beat Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke.

This year, thanks to the increase, the winner at Quail Hollow will bank $3.42m (£2.56m) while the runner-up is in line for $2.052m (£1.55m).

A 10th-placed finish earns around £391,000. Not bad eh.

And of course if you do win you get five-year exemptions into the other three major tournaments and get to keep the Wanamaker Trophy for a year, before receiving a replica.

You also get a lifetime exemption to play in the event the same as with the Masters.

Similar to the other three major tournaments, the winner of the PGA Championship typically receives 100 Official World Golf Rankings points.

They also collect 750 FedExCup points, which all but guarantees a top-50 finish in the standings of a competition that has a $100m prize pool.

  18. Double bogey for Rahmpublished at 23:15 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -6 (17)

Jon Rahm sends his putt fizzing five feet past the hole on the 17th as he tries to limit the damage.

But it's a double and he's now in a tie for third with Harris English.

  19. Positive signs for Wallacepublished at 23:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Wallace -3 (72)

    Gavin Andrews
BBC Sport NI at Quail Hollow

England’s Matt Wallace has had a solid week here at Quail Hollow. It wasn’t to be after a final round 72, but up until a double bogey on the 13th he was in the mix. Positive signs for a busy summer ahead.

  20. Bryson ends with a bogeypublished at 23:08 British Summer Time 18 May

    DeChambeau -6 (70)

A moment to sum up Bryson DeChambeau's week in North Carolina on the 72nd hole.

A par putt from 20-odd feet curls around the cup and stays up.

So this week won't be his week, but two things you can't deny - he's ultra-consistent at the majors and he's box office viewing.
