  1. Postpublished at 23:08 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -8 (16)

Playing his third from the drop zone. Jon Rahm finds the heart of the green some 26 feet from the flag. He will do well to avoid a double bogey.

For so long the only realistic challenger to Scottie Scheffler, he could end up in a tie for fifth here.

  2. Scottie goes back-to-backpublished at 23:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -12 (15)

This is the real Scottie Scheffler now! His shot from off the back of the green is miles better than Jon Rahm's and he's left with just a tap-in for a second birdie in a row.

And so now, after struggling for most of the round, Scheffler's now one under for the day, 12 under for the tournament and leads by four!

  3. Rahm in the drink on the 17thpublished at 23:05 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -8 (16)

    That is surely that.

Jon Rahm tries to force the issue on the 17th with a high-tariff shot directly at the pin.

It zips on to the green but skips straight off into the water that wraps around the front, left and back portions of the putting surface.

  4. 'Frustration for Rahm'published at 23:02 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -8 (16)

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live at Quail Hollow

That putt looked good all the way for Rahm. Just frustration over the past three holes for him. He's played them one over par with the field probably under par for those holes. His clinical round is coming to an end.

  5. Great hitpublished at 23:02 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -11, Noren -5 (14)

Scottie Scheffler finds the 15th fairway, albeit far enough back that he needs a three wood, but he absolutely creams it to land it just next to the pin, with his ball just rolling off the back of the green.

He's in almost exactly the same spot Jon Rahm was earlier.

  6. Rahm running out of holespublished at 23:01 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -8 (16)

Jon Rahm ends up in a greenside bunker with his second but under commits with his chip out of the sand leaving a tough putt down the slope for a par.

It's another effort that skirts the cup and the Spaniard twiddles his putter in a show of frustration.

He is going to need help from Scottie Scheffler now and is running out of holes to make inroads.

  7. Postpublished at 23:00 British Summer Time 18 May

    Poston -7 (15)

A tremendous pitch almost drops in for eagle for JT Poston, but he missed the birdie putt on the way back and that'll be a par for the American.

He's on course for his best finish at a major.

  8. Fitzpatrick ends on disappointing notepublished at 22:56 British Summer Time 18 May

    Fitzpatrick -4 (72)

Matt Fitzpatrick's fourth round ends on a disappointing note, with a third consecutive bogey.

The Green Mile has well and truly done for the Englishman.

  9. Postpublished at 22:54 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -11, Noren -5 (14)

Scottie Scheffler finds the 15th fairway and looks to have grown in confidence after that birdie on the 14th.

It's been a tough road back to exactly where he started the day on 11 under, and he's seen a lead of three melt away as he struggled to find his game, but he's now two in front and looking good.

BUT, there's still this hugely tough finishing stretch to get through.

  10. Postpublished at 22:52 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -9 (15)

Not sure Jon Rahm had this in mind Oliver...

Rahm sprays his tee shot left down the 16th into the rough.

He plays his second holding the metal shaft of his club, a clear indication of how far his ball is above his feet. These are not easy.

  11. Another par for Brysonpublished at 22:51 British Summer Time 18 May

    DeChambeau -7 (17)

Bryson DeChambeau gives his birdie attempt from 45 feet every opportunity to drop - but it just slides by.

With Scottie Scheffler stabilising, he needs a birdie down the last to have any chance, you'd think.

Even if he just misses out, it's another very solid performance for DeChambeau at a major.

  12. 'Rahm must draw on everything he has'published at 22:50 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -9 (15)

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live at Quail Hollow

It definitely would have hurt Rahm not to take those opportunities on 14 and 15, knowing that Scheffler still has to play those holes.

But as we've seen, it is do-able on 16,17 and 18. As always in golf, it's about executing your shots. He's going to draw on everything he has.

  13. Big birdie for Scottie!published at 22:50 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -11, Noren -5 (14)

Scottie Scheffler drives it into the front bunker on the short par-four 14th, then digs it out to eight feet to give himself a look at birdie.

And it's a smooth putt that he sends into the bottom of the cup for another birdie to get back to 11 under and stretch his lead to two.

That could be a huge momentum swing.

  14. Postpublished at 22:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -10 (13), Rahm -9 (15)

Line graph showing Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm's progress this round

Since those fireworks a few holes back, neither Scottie Scheffler or Jon Rahm has been able to cash in on birdie attempts.

Will Rahm's misses on the greens cost him?

  15. Rahm unable to convert birdie opportunitypublished at 22:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -9 (15)

Jon Rahm shoots straight through the 15th green with his second and given the complexity of landing a chip absolutely perfectly on the fringe he has his putter in hand.

He's a touch heavy handed and his ball skitters 12 feet past. Can he make the return journey for a birdie and a share of the lead? No. His putt stays left.

It is all going to come down to the Green Mile, which he has played at level par so far this week.

  16. Back-to-back bogeys for Fitzpatrickpublished at 22:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    Fitzpatrick -5 (17)

Matt Fitzpatrick's hopes have been well and truly dashed on the Green Mile.

He finds a swale to the right of the 17th and can't get up and down in two.

Back-to-back bogeys for the former US Open champion.

  17. Par for Brysonpublished at 22:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    DeChambeau -7 (16)

Bryson DeChambeau putts for birdie from the fringe of the 16th green - it rolls a foot or so by.

    A safe par.

Two more holes to go, starting with the par-three 17th - where he found the water from the tee yesterday.

  18. Par threepublished at 22:37 British Summer Time 18 May

    Scheffler -10, Noren -5 (13)

Scottie Scheffler is pin high with his tee shot on 13, but 25 feet away and although he gives it a really good roll the ball just doesn't have the gas to get all the way.

    A safe par though.

  19. Bradley on brilliant runpublished at 22:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Vegas -5, Bradley -5 (15)

Birdie-birdie-eagle for Keegan Bradley, who is looking to produce a strong finish here to impress the Ryder Cup captain - who just happens to be himself!

He's continually said he won't pick himself unless he qualifies by right, but his form here suggests he should be going to Bethpage Black with his clubs rather than his notebook and radio.

  20. 'Two of the worst putts we've seen'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    Rahm -9 (14), Fitzpatrick -6 (16)

    Oliver Wilson
Former Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live at Quail Hollow

Two of the worst putts we've seen all week. Rahm just shoved it, bad putt. Even though he looked down to blame the green, it was just a bad stroke and followed by Fitzy who rammed it through the break.

Not what they needed at this stage of the tournament.
