  2. Latest leaderboardpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time

Charley Hull, having spent much of her round battling to make the cut, ends only four shots off a tie for third. That's how congested that leaderboard is.

But out in front, Miyu Yamashita and Rio Takeda are well clear.

There are still several groups left out on the course, with at least a couple more hours of play to come before the second round is completed.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard looks right now:

    • -11 Yamashita (Jpn)
    • -8 Takeda (Jpn)
    • -4 Tamburlini (Sui), Anannarukarn (Tha), Duncan (US)
    • -3 SY Kim (Kor), AL Kim (Kor), Sagstrom (Swe), Fuenfstueck (Ger - 10), Matthews (US - 9)

World number one Nelly Korda, England's Lottie Woad and Wales' Darcey Harry are in a large group at -2.

  3. Hull finishes evenpublished at 18:54 British Summer Time

    Hull E, M Lee +2, Thitikul -1 (F)

No mistake. Charley Hull sinks her birdie putt to finish the day on level par for the tournament.

Not a bad score at all in these tricky windy conditions. She'll be back tomorrow, comfortably surviving the cut.

Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul and Australia's Minjee Lee both finish with pars.

    Fantastic from Charley Hull.

The Englishwoman gets too much on her approach and ends up past the green with a nasty chip shot to come.

But Hull's wedge game comes in clutch as she lands her ball within three feet of the hole to give herself a chance to finish with a birdie.

  5. Co-lead to missing cut?published at 18:45 British Summer Time

    Okayama +2 (12)

Japan's Eri Okayama, who was the co-leader overnight, looks set to miss the cut if her current form continues.

She's made bogeys on seven of her 12 holes so far today.

It's going to take some effort to stay on - or better - her current overall score of two over to make sure she's around for the weekend.

    L Hall +3 (14)

Darcey Harry is just outside the top 10 at the moment, but it's bad news for the other Welsh hope at Royal Porthcawl this week.

Lydia Hall makes a six on the par-four 14th, which moves her to three over.

She needs to find a birdie on one of the remaining holes to make the cut.

  7. Hull saves parpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time

    Hull +1, M Lee +2, Thitikul -1 (17)

Decent recovery from Charley Hull who manages to save a par with two solid putts. With a hole to go the Englishwoman looks set to survive the cut.

Minjee Lee and Jeeno Thitikul also leave the 17th green after making pars.

  8. Kim makes cut but Henderson misses chancepublished at 18:29 British Summer Time

    G Kim +2 (75), Henderson +3 (76)

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at Royal Porthcawl

Major champions Brooke Henderson and Grace Kim head up the last needing birdies to move to the right side of the cut line.

Both players give themselves a chance by setting up birdie putts, but Henderson sinks to her knees as her effort slides by.

Kim’s putt is half the distance - and last month’s Evian Championship winner finds the cup to ensure she will be here for the weekend.

On to the 17th where Charley Hull, Minjee Lee and Jeeno Thitikul all make decent tee shots.

Lee plays her approach shot perfectly, putting it to within 10 feet of the hole.

England's Hull isn't so lucky, her effort gets a heavy bounce and rolls through, off the edge of the green.

I’m at the 17th green where there’s a nice group of fans sat around the green, soaking up the sun and refreshments from the food and drink stalls.

One reveller has taken the opportunity to have a little snooze, lying on the ground with a Welsh bucket hat covering her face.

    Too much sun? Possibly.

Too much golf? No such thing.

    Hull +1 (16)

    Andrew Richards
BBC Sport Wales at Royal Porthcawl

Charley Hull is nearer the 17th tee than the 16th green as her approach veers left and keeps going.

She chips on and makes a tough, gutsy par putt which invokes a “Come on!” or two from the spectators around me.

There are still several groups left out on the course, with at least a couple more hours of play to come before the second round is completed.

Here's how the top of the leaderboard looks right now:

    • -11 Yamashita (Jpn)
    • -8 Takeda (Jpn)
    • -4 Tamburlini (Sui), Anannarukarn (Tha), Duncan (US)
    • -3 SY Kim (Kor), AL Kim (Kor), Sagstrom (Swe), Fuenfstueck (Ger - 7)

World number one Nelly Korda, England's Lottie Woad and Wales' Darcey Harry are in a large group at -2.

  14. Hull saves parpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time

    Hull +1, M Lee J +2, Thitikul -1 (16)

Important par putt for Charley Hull from about 10 feet out, and the Englishwoman plays it perfectly, right into the middle of the hole.

She's had to battle today, just two more holes to come.

  15. Watch: Harry targets top-10 finishpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time

    Harry -2 (72)

Royal Porthcawl member Darcey Harry is currently in a tie for 10th place after a level-par round of 72 earlier today.

And she says a top-10 finish is her main target for the weekend...

  16. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time

    SY Kim -3 (70), Buhai +2 (73)

Sei Young Kim is one of the few later starters to break par in round two. The South Korean carded six birdies in her two-under-par round of 70.

Playing partner Ashleigh Buhai, the Women's Open champion in 2022, birdies the last to ensure she'll be around for the weekend.

  17. Thitikul triple-bogeys 15thpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time

    Hull +1, M Lee E, Thitikul -1 (15)

Charley Hull has a glimpse of a birdie after her tee shot on the 15th, but curls her putt slightly short and wide. She taps in for par.

Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul, however, makes a bit of a mess of the hole.

Thitikul bungles her first attempt in the bunker and decides to play backwards, then chip on to the green.

By the time Thitikul taps in, she has a triple bogey and all that hard work is wiped out.

Golf can be a cruel game.

  18. Grace Kim set to miss cutpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time

    Kim +3, Henderson +2 (16)

Australian Grace Kim won the last major, The Evian Championship in July, but she's on the cusp of falling foul of the cut at the Women's Open.

Kim hits her fifth bogey on the day on the 16th to move to three over.

This was a difficult section of the course for Charley Hull yesterday as she made four bogeys in a row from 14-17.

Today, she is inches away from a birdie as her long putt ends up just short.

And now her tee shot to the par three 15th finds the dance floor.

    Much better.

  20. Hull remains one overpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time

    Hull +1, M Lee E, Thitikul -4 (14)

Charley Hull backs up a birdie with a solid par on the 14th. Can she finish strongly to make sure she will be at Royal Porthcawl for the rest of the weekend?

Minjee Lee, however, drops a shot.
