    Woad -5, Ko E, Vu +7 (14)

Lottie Woad drains in a put from about 35 feet on the 14th for another birdie! The 21-year-old is on the charge.

A bogey for defending champion Lydia Ko, though.

The wind has definitely picked up now, the flag on the 13th green flaps and flutters as Lottie Woad has a wedge in hand from 100 yards out.

The wind is no problem for Woad who puts it to five feet to give herself a back-to-back birdie chance, which she duly takes.

I’ve just seen a young fan with a homemade flag for cheering on Lottie Woad.

The flag says for her to relax and enjoy.

At four under par, it’s safe to say she’s doing that as it stands.

  3. Anannarukarn into third placepublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 1 August

    Anannarukarn -6 (11)

Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn has charged from seemingly nowhere into third place on six under par.

Five birdies during a bogey-free first 11 holes today.

There is no let-up for the players on 16, with the wind blowing straight into their faces.

Darcey Harry and Georgia Hall both hit fine fairway woods to give themselves birdie chances, but both putts stay above ground.

The good news is that the wind will be with them on the next.

  5. Yamashita keeps it safepublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yamashita -10, Takeda -7, Tavatanakit +2 (17)

Steady stuff from Miyu Yamashita who banks another par on the 17th to maintain a three-shot advantage over Japanese compatriot Rio Takeda, who is in the same playing group.

A low-risk finish on home back straight for Yamashita.

  6. Korda bounces back with birdiepublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 1 August

    Jutanugarn -1, Korda -1, Yin -2 (12)

World number one Nelly Korda responds to that bogey in the best possible way, by sinking her first birdie of the day on the very next hole.

Fellow American Angel Yin struggles on the par three 12 though, bogeying for the first time since hole one.

  7. Woad moves to four underpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 1 August

    Woad -4, Ko -1, Vu +7 (13)

A fifth birdie of the round for Lottie Woad, who cashes in on her fine approach shot at the 13th with a comfortable putt.

Defending champion Lydia Ko also manages to pick up a birdie of her own. Another bogey for Lilia Vu, though, who looks destined to miss the cut unless she can produce something special on the next five holes.

  8. Korda hovers above cut linepublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 1 August

    Korda E (11)

Nelly Korda has an excellent record at the Women's Open.

She missed the cut on debut in 2017 but made the weekend in all seven subsequent appearances, culminating in a tied-second finish behind Lydia Ko at St Andrews last year.

She's finished in the top 15 on five occasions.

The world number one is hovering around that cut line at the moment. Her current score of level par should be OK to make the weekend at Royal Porthcawl, but Korda would love at least one birdie on the way home to make absolutely sure.

  9. Harry slips back with another double bogeypublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 1 August

    G Hall E, Harry -2 (15)

The par-three 15th is straight into the breeze - and it has turned a little ugly for two members of this group.

After finding the greenside bunker, Darcey Harry just about gets the ball out of the sand before a heavy chip onto the green.

She then misses a 10-footer putt to slip back to two under with her second double bogey of the day.

Jennifer Kupcho, meanwhile, takes two shots to get out of the other bunker - just.

She then plays a decent chip on to the green but takes two putts for a six. Ouch.

Georgia Hall is the only player who emerges unscathed as she makes a routine par.

  10. Woad eyes fifth birdiepublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 1 August

    Woad -3, Ko E, Vu +6 (12)

The wind is really starting to kick up now at Royal Portcawl, but it's blowing in the right direction for Lottie Woad as she plays an excellent approach shot to the 13th to give herself a solid birdie chance.

  11. Korda bogeys 11thpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 1 August

    Jutanugarn -1, Korda E, Yin -3 (11)

Nelly Korda is getting increasingly frustrated. She drops her second shot of the day as her par putt lips out on the 11th green.

The world number one is back to level par. Ten shots off the lead.

No birdies and two bogeys today.

  12. Yamashita makes par againpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yamashita -10, Takeda -7, Tavatanakit +2 (16)

With the clubhouse in sight Miyu Yamashita is playing sensibly. Having got to 10 under the Japanese makes the third of three consecutive pars at the 16th.

Rio Takeda is still three shots behind the leader.

  13. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 1 August

The weather forecast for Porthcawl today is that it should be dry and mostly sunny throughout the day, with the wind picking up a touch during the afternoon.

On that basis, the players this morning might have had the conditions are at their best.

  14. Where is the cut line?published at 11:24 British Summer Time 1 August

    Lydia KoImage source, PA Media

At the moment, level par or better would be good enough to get you in for the weekend, but an overall score of one over par would end your tournament tonight.

Who's close to the line? Well, world number one Nelly Korda is one under for the championship, defending champion Lydia Ko is currently at level par overall, while England's Charley Hull will get under way in a couple of hours on one over par.

  15. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 1 August

Darcey Harry gives herself another decent birdie chance on 14 - but this time the putt never really threatens the hole.

Georgia Hall drops back to level for the tournament after a bogey five.

The wind is picking up now. Conditions are getting trickier.

  16. Woad bounces backpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 1 August

    Woad -3, Ko E, Vu +6 (12)

    Andrew Richards
BBC Sport Wales at Royal Porthcawl

Lottie Woad bounces back on the par-three 12th hole!

Her tee shot lands short of the green and chases up past the pin, rolling back towards it to leave her with six feet for birdie.

“Go on Lottie!” is the shout as she cancels out the bogey on the 11th to move back to three under.

  17. Jutanugarn birdies 10thpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 1 August

    Jutanugarn -1, Korda -1, Yin -3 (10)

The birdies are flying in now in Nelly Korda's group. Well, for everyone but the world number one.

Ariya Jutanugarn goes one under after sinking a birdie on the par four 10th.

First real mistake for Lottie Woad today.

She three putts on the 11th to drop a shot and move back to two under par. Woad bogeyed the same hole yesterday.

A first birdie of the day for Lilia Vu, who is battling to make the cut, while Lydia Ko settles for par.

  20. A mixed start for Rhodespublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 1 August

    Rhodes -2 (7)

A topsy-turvy front nine for Mimi Rhodes today.

After pars at each of the first three holes, she has gone birdie, double bogey, birdie, bogey.

The outcome of that stretch of holes is that she's one over for today and two under for the tournament.
