The 10th hole is a bit of a brute in this wind - and it has just proved very difficult for Canada’s Brooke Henderson.

Her approach falls short of the green, then a heavy chip leaves her above the hole.

Three putts later, she writes down six on the card and is one over par.

Grace Kim also drops a shot to leave the Evian champion two over and battling to make the cut.

  2. Struggling with the conditions?published at 16:11 British Summer Time 1 August

The final group went out onto the course a few moments ago and have just completed their first hole.

Of the 75 players currently on the course, only three of them are under par for their rounds today.

Meanwhile, 23 of the 69 players who have finished their rounds did so in an under-par score.

Perhaps a better demonstration than any that the wind is causing problems for the players teeing off in the later groups today.

  3. Andrea Lee bogeyspublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 1 August

    A Lee -3 (13)

Andrea Lee's mini-run comes to an end after she finds the bunker on the 11th.

Her chip out is a little too meaty and she ends up having to two-putt for a bogey.

  4. Cut mark edges closer to two over parpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 1 August

The top 65 and ties will make it through to the weekend.

Earlier, we said level par or one over would likely be where the cut would fall... well, it might end up being that two over par is good enough to take part in the final two rounds.

Currently, 66 players are one over par or better - but that number is falling all the time.

Among the group finished for the day on two over par are defending champion Lydia Ko and 2013 Women's Open winner Stacy Lewis.

Grace Kim, who won the Evian Championship last month, is two over par overall after 10 holes of her second round.

  5. Hull misses birdie puttpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 1 August

Charley Hull is doing well to keep her emotions in check after another birdie putt falls short.

Her front nine has been a tale of ifs, buts and maybes.

Can she turn it around on the back nine?

  6. Hull chips out of the sandpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hull +1, M Lee -2, Thitikul -2 (8)

Charley Hull manages to chip out of the bunker at the ninth.

The ball whistles past the hole, but she still has a birdie chance on the green here. A difficult chance, but a chance nonetheless.

  7. Okayama bogeys againpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 1 August

    Okayama -3 (2)

Meanwhile, overnight co-leader Eri Okayama is seriously wobbling. Again she is off target from the tee, she leaves a long attempt to save par on the second well short and is fortunate to walk away with just a bogey.

She's already six places down from where she was at the start of her round.

  8. Andrea Lee birdies againpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 1 August

    A Lee -4 (10)

American Andrea Lee is continuing her charge up the leaderboard, birdieing the par four 10th hole to make a perfect start to the back nine.

The Bristol Channel was like a mill pond this morning, but now white horses can be seen all the way west to Swansea.

All those players who were out early and experienced benign conditions must be delighted to be off the course and watching on now.

  10. Hull misses birdie chancepublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 1 August

A birdie chance goes begging for Charley Hull at a blustery eighth hole and she does well to hide her frustration. The Englishwoman needs something to ignite her second round at Royal Porthcawl.

Minjee Lee and Jeeno Thitikul both tap in for par as well.

The leaderboard has a very strange look about it.

From four under downwards, it's very congested - a total of 35 players are under par.

The trouble for all of those players is that Rio Takeda is eight under for the tournament in second spot and leader Miyu Yamashita is 11 under - and neither of them will be falling back closer to the rest of the field from those scores today.

  12. Okayama bogeys the firstpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 1 August

    Okayama -4 (1)

Eri Okayama drives into the fairway bunker off the tee and leaves herself an awkward stance, meaning all she could do is play out sideways.

Definitely an uphill task to save par - but a magnificent approach to within six feet gives her a chance.

Sadly for Okayama, the par putt is pushed right and stays right.

Back to four under straight away.

  13. Hull follows birdie with bogeypublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 1 August

Swings and roundabouts for this group on the seventh.

After a birdie on the sixth Charley Hull has a tricky putt for par, but just misses it and bogeys the hole to go back to one over.

By contrast, Jeeno Thitikul bogeyed the previous hole but slides in a putt for a birdie to get herself back to two under.

Minjee Lee sinks a fairly straightforward putt for par.

  14. Hataoka charge stopped by bogeypublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hataoka -2, Schmelzel E, Lopez +4 (11)

After a blistering front nine, including five birdies, Nasa Hataoka gets a bit of a reality check.

She makes par on the 10th before a bogey on the 11th means she drops back to two under.

Hataoka's playing partners, Sarah Schmelzel of the USA and Mexico's Gaby Lopez, are at evens and four over respectively.

Lottie Woad is apparently someone who has to be dragged away from the practice ground at times.

Sure enough, long after her second round finished, she is still here at Royal Porthcawl, doing drills on the putting green.

  16. Hull birdies the sixthpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hull E, M Lee -2, Thitikul -1 (6)

Charley Hull bends her knees forward after an eagle putt goes agonisingly just wide of the hole at the par-five sixth.

Hull had bounced the ball on to the green after an inventive iron shot, but ultimately a birdie will do as she goes back to evens.

Minjee Lee, with her broom-handle putter, saves par while Jeeno Thitikul drops a shot.

  17. 'I'd like to work hard to improve my score again tomorrow'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yamashita -11 (65)

    Miyu YamashitaImage source, PA Media

A little earlier, Miyu Yamashita spoke to the media after a seven-under-par round of 65 that put her three shots clear at the top of the leaderboard:

"I'm still in the early group so I don't know what will happen after this. I'm glad that today was today. The wind will probably get stronger tomorrow so I'd like to work hard to improve my score again tomorrow.

"The temperature changes throughout the day, so I tried to stay warm as much as possible.

"I'm also managing my caddie well, so I often rely on him rather than playing alone, and I feel reassured that I can take on the challenge with a relationship of trust.

"I have some time until tomorrow so I'm going to take a short break after this, have lunch and then my dad is here, so I'd like to work on any areas I need to improve. He says my swing isn't bad and I also want to keep my rhythm.

"With the wind, I'm conscious of how important it is to keep the same rhythm throughout the round."

  18. Okayama set to startpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 1 August

    Okayama -5 (15:00 BST)

As joint-leader overnight, Eri Okayama probably wouldn't have expected to be teeing off in her second round six shots off the lead.

That's what faces Okayama, though, after Miyu Yamashita's brilliant 65 this morning set the clubhouse target at 11 under par.

Okayama is in third spot on her own at the moment, as she heads to the first tee.

  19. Hataoka on the chargepublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 1 August

    Hataoka -3 (9)

Nasa Hataoka is on a hot streak. After birdies on the seventh and eighth holes she's just rolled in another on the ninth to move to three under.

Can the 26-year-old from Japan follow up that up in the back nine?

    G Kim +1 (6)

Australia's Grace Kim is the most recent winner of a women's major, having won the Evian Championship earlier this month.

She is battling to make the cut at Royal Porthcawl, though. Two bogeys in the opening six holes have left her right on the cut mark at one over par for the tournament.
