Nelly Korda makes another par on the par-five sixth hole. Five pars and a bogey for the American this morning.

The world number one spoke after her round yesterday about how important patience is on a course like Royal Porthcawl.

Angel Yin makes the first birdie by this group, almost two hours after they headed out for the start of their second round.

Lottie Woad has been very accurate on approach this morning.

She hit only 11 greens in regulation yesterday but is seven from seven so far today.

It’s a two-putt par on this occasion to stay at one under.

  5. Woad taps in for parpublished at 10:07 British Summer Time 1 August

    Woad -1, Ko +1, Vu +6 (7)

There's very little wind out on the course at Royal Porthcawl this morning and there's a sense from those out on the course that they have to make hay while the conditions are good.

Lottie Woad comes up three feet short on a 30-foot putt for birdie but sinks a knee-knocker for par.

  6. Another birdie for Harrypublished at 10:04 British Summer Time 1 August

    G Hall -1, Harry -4 (9)

Darcey Harry continues to impress as she makes her third birdie of the day on the par-five ninth.

A fine second shot gives Harry a decent look at eagle. She misses that putt but taps in to move to four under.

But there is frustration for Georgia Hall as she is forced to settle for a par despite being just off the green in two.

  7. Yamashita pulls three clearpublished at 10:03 British Summer Time 1 August

    Yamashita -9, Takeda -6, Tavatanakit E (11)

Yet another birdie for Miyu Yamashita as she picks up her third consecutive birdie to move a further shot clear at the top of the leaderboard at nine under.

After a four-under 68 yesterday, the Japanese is five under for her round today. Impressive stuff.

At the end of play yesterday, an ice bath would have done nicely after a long, warm day in the south Wales sunshine.

Today it’s a different story, so far at least. It’s pretty fresh out here.

I can’t be the only one wondering if shorts were the right option.

  9. Yamashita goes two clearpublished at 09:57 British Summer Time 1 August

After taking a share of the lead at the ninth, Rio Takeda finds herself two shots behind after the 10th. Takeda bogeys the hole to drop to six under while her Japanese compatriot Miyu Yamashita, in the same playing group, manages a birdie.

Yamashita is now two strokes ahead at the top of the leaderboard.

Mimi Rhodes, a three-time winner on the LET this year, was the leading British player overnight after her three-under-par round on Thursday.

Two pars to start for the 23-year-old, who has been joined on three under this morning by Wales' Darcey Harry.

They share the bragging rights for the Britons at Royal Porthcawl at the moment.

  11. Woad birdies sixthpublished at 09:50 British Summer Time 1 August

There‘a a booming noise from the crowd around the green following Lottie Woad’s approach to the par-five sixth hole.

It must be close! A quick scamper up towards the green confirms it. A tap-in birdie for Woad who moves to one under.

She gives a sheepish grin as the spectators congratulate her.

  12. Solheim Cup captain Nordqvist going wellpublished at 09:48 British Summer Time 1 August

    Nordqvist -2 (10)

European Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist is going very well in her second round.

Four birdies and a bogey on the front nine for the Swede, who won the Women's Open at Carnoustie in 2021.

  13. 'Plenty of locals backing Harry'published at 09:46 British Summer Time 1 August

Darcey Harry makes a solid par on eight to remain in a large group of players who are tied for sixth on three under.

Georgia Hall also has to settle for par as her birdie putt just rolls past the hole.

There is a decent following for this group now, with plenty of locals backing Wales’ Harry.

  14. Takeda eagles ninthpublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 1 August

Rio Takeda double-bogeyed the par-five ninth hole yesterday, but manages to eagle it in her second round to go seven under.

Miyu Yamashita slides in a birdie putt so the two Japanese players, in the same three-ball, are in a share of the lead.

  15. Korda drops a shotpublished at 09:38 British Summer Time 1 August

    Jutanugarn E, Korda -1, Yin E (4)

Disappointment for Nelly Korda, whose par putt on the fourth misses.

She's back to one under for the tournament.

The crowd were willing Lottie Woad’s birdie putt to drop but it just grazes the left edge. It’s a fifth straight par for her.

There is then a rapturous applause for Lydia Ko whose long par putt only just reaches its destination.

Lilia Vu however drops yet another shot and is now at six over.

  17. Vu slipping awaypublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 1 August

    Woad E, Ko +1, Vu +6 (5)

Lottie Woad's steady start continues with another par at the fifth. That's five from the first five holes from the 21-year-old Englishwoman.

A good par save from Lydia Ko as well but Lilia Vu cannot stop the bogey rot as her fourth of the round sees her go to six over.

Georgia Hall taps in for par at the seventh to remain one under.

There is a four too for Darcey Harry, who will be happy with that given that her tee shot flirted with heavy rough.

She's in a tie for sixth place at the moment.

The pin on the par-three fifth hole is right at the back of the green today.

Lydia Ko hits it well past the green, Lottie Woad makes virtue of the bank to the right of the green which feeds her ball down towards the hole.

Still a long putt for birdie but a better chance than she’s had so far today.

The crowds around the green are 10 deep in places, tiptoes required.
