  1. Birdie start for Schefflerpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 13 July

    Scheffler -7 (1)

That's why Scottie Scheffler is the world number one. His drive off the tee box at the first is into the rough, but his approach is within six feet of the flag.

He rolls it in to start with a birdie. A decent way to start a charge.

Justin Rose makes hard work of the par-five third to post par after pushing his drive left.

Scotland's Grant Forrest is on the green in two and bags a first birdie of the day.

  3. Hall makes fast start to re-enter fraypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 13 July

    Hall -7 (2)

It's been a decent start by Harry Hall.

The Englishman was nine under going into the weekend but a dreadful 74 yesterday seemingly put him out of contention.

Yet he's started today with birdies at the first and second - the latter being the toughest hole on the course, statistically.

He's birdied the third twice so far in this tournament. Another today would get him right back near the top.

On the tee, from America, the world number one - Scottie Scheffler.

He needs something special today if he's to mount a challenge, but don't rule it out...

  5. McIlroy mania sweeps round Renaissancepublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 13 July

    McIlroy -11 (13:40 BST)

We've got our first glimpse of Rory McIlroy, marching over to the practice range behind the grandstand sixth. There's more folk watching him there than at some holes.

Just under an hour until he begins.

    Smith -3 (2)

Jordan Smith, man of the people.

The Englishman gives out high fives aplenty on the walk to the third tee.

His exquisite chip for a tap-in par on two deserves all the acclaim going, although he is one over for the day after a bogey start.

  7. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 13 July

    Harman -2, Echavarria -2, Fleetwood -2 (3*)

Brian Harman overcooked his tee shot on the 12th and ended up in a tough spot way out left. His up-and-down chip shot was well measured though, and he rescues par.

Nico Echavarria can't do the same. His birdie putt was badly under-hit, and he misses the three foot par putt.

As for Tommy Fleetwood, it's three pars on the trot.

    Taylor -6 (3)

Canada's Nick Taylor is the first player to make a bit of a move this morning.

He has birdied one and three to get to six under, five behind the leaders.

It's a sell-out again here today - something the traffic around East Lothian this morning would attest to - and the grandstands are already full.

It's a touch chillier than it has been but that's not dissuading anyone.

  11. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 13 July

    Harman -2 (2*)

After his birdie at the tenth, Brian Harman immediately follows it up with a bogey at the 11th. That was after he missed a six foot putt.

He swears, loudly, then taps in. A little early for the expletives.

  12. Where haar you?published at 12:30 British Summer Time 13 July

We told you about the haar that was supposed to come in. Right now, there's absolutely no sign of it.

    Conditions are absolutely perfect.

    Fleetwood -2 (1*)

Tommy Fleetwood pars the 10th hole to start his final round.

The Englishman is a popular figure wherever he goes, but he is a long way back and surely out of contention today.

His long wait for a PGA Tour win will go on.

He's also already disposed of the white cardigan he's sported throughout this tournament. A wise idea in this heat.

  14. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 13 July

    Echavarria -3, Harman -3 (1)

That is special from Nico Echavarria. One of the overnight leaders after the first day, the Colombian has slipped far back after shooting 72 on the second and third day.

He's on the left of the undulating green at the 10th, where he chips from down the bottom of a bank and watches his ball speed towards the hole before lipping out. He taps in for birdie.

An early contender for shot of the day.

Brian Harman's approach was much better and he's able to drain a 16ft putt for birdie.

  15. Gotterup 'knows what it takes' to winpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 13 July

    Gotterup -11 (13:40)

Chris Gotterup has shown at this Scottish Open that he doesn't lack golfing talent. And another thing the American is not short of is belief.

Going out in the final round of a big event in the company of major winners Rory McIlroy and Wyndham Clark might spook some. But if 25-year-old Gotterup is among them, he's hiding it well.

"I'm in a good spot," he said. "If you came to me on Tuesday and said that was the case, I would have taken it.

"I know what I'm capable of. I've won before so I know what it takes. It's going to take a good round for sure, and I'm going to go give it my best."

  16. What's the weather going to do?published at 12:15 British Summer Time 13 July

Around here, what we call a 'haar' is forecast for the morning and evening in this part of East Lothian, leading the the schedule being tweaked for Sunday's final round.

A haar is a cold fog that rolls in off the sea, and given the proximity to the Firth of Forth, it could wreak havoc at the Renaissance Club.

A couple of trios, plus the pair of Adam Scott and Aaron Rai, have already gotten underway - including Tommy Fleetwood, Brian Harman, and Justin Rose.

  17. McIlroy 'close to Masters level'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 13 July

    McIlroy -11 (13:40)

"I think I'm pretty close to being back to the level I was at going into the Masters," is what Rory McIlroy said of his game last night.

A frightening prospect for his competitors.

"I think I've had a little bit of a lull, which I feel is understandable. So I'm just getting back to the level that I know that I can play at."

He's also raised eyebrows this week with a particularly short trim.

"I'm getting a little grey and I stupidly thought that by going shorter it would take the greys out," he told CBS.

"If anything it makes me look more grey, but it will grow back. It'll be perfect length for the Ryder Cup in September."

It's a Sunday sell-out and anticipation hangs in the air.

  20. Good morning!published at 12:01 British Summer Time 13 July

And welcome to the final day at the 2025 Scottish Open. There's plenty still in contention, but two golfers have a two-shot lead.

One is Chris Gotterup, the 25-year-old American who set a course record 61 on Friday.

The other is Grand Slam champion, crowd favourite, Rory McIlroy. He won this tournament in 2023. Can he do it again in 2025?
