    Hello, Matthew Fitzpatrick.

A perfect iron shot to the middle of the 17th green catches the necessary slope and rolls to about six feet. Can the Yorkshireman join the leaders at 11 under?

Marco Penge's tee shot is very short and he has his work cut out to make par.

    Penge -10, M Fitzpatrick -10 (16)

The English pair of Matt Fitzpatrick and Marco Penge have both gone about their business quietly and effectively today.

They both find the green at the par-three 16th and they both two-putt for birdie. They both move to 10 under, one shot off the lead.

Groans from the grandstand at 18 as Rory McIlroy's putt again stays on the high side.

He makes the following putt though for a superb 66. Five birdies and just the one bogey for the Masters champion, who will fancy a second Scottish Open title tomorrow.

    McIlroy -11 (17)

An accurate drive and a flushed iron shot from 157 yards leave Rory McIlroy with 11ft for a closing birdie...

    Knapp -9 (69)

Jake Knapp's closing holes are quite the rollercoaster.

The American goes birdie, bogey, bogey, birdie before leaving himself work to do with an over-zealous approach that zips through the 18th green.

Can he avoid a bogey on the last? Nope.

  6. Bogey for Gotteruppublished at 19:08 British Summer Time

    Gotterup -11 (14)

We now have a two-way tie for the lead.

Chris Gotterup three-putts the par-three 14th and has Rory McIlroy for company at the top of the board.

    McIlroy -11 (17)

Rory McIlroy is bent double in exasperation on the 17th green as his birdie putt somehow doesn't break and stays on the high side.

He stays one back. Or does he...

    McIlroy -11 (16)

Rory McIlroy tells his tee shot to "go" at the par-three 17th.

With just 10 yards between the front bunker and the pin, it's a perilous pin to attack.

His ball listens though and flies the bunker, finishing 13ft from the hole.

    Another birdie chance coming up...

  9. McIlroy now within one of Gotteruppublished at 18:55 British Summer Time

Rory McIlroy might not have torn up the course today - very few have - but the Northern Irishman has just quietly accumulated his fifth birdie of the day to move within one of Chris Gotterup.

If the American was going to tighten up, now might be the time...

  10. What a shotpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time

    Penge -10 (14)

Marco Penge has had seven pars on the spin heading to the par-three 14th, but that run looks in peril after he misses the green left.

No bother though, as he flights his chip miles past the hole and uses a slope to bring it back to within three feet.

Vision, imagination and execution all in one.

  11. Aberg stumbles againpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time

    Aberg -6 (14)

Ludvig Aberg could be forgiven for walking off right about now.

In his first 47 holes this week, he dropped five shots. In his past three holes, he's dropped another five.

The Swede has gone from right in the mix, to flailing around in the pack. Brutal game, this.

    M Fitzpatrick -10 (13)

Matt Fitzpatrick is fuming and you can understand why.

He plays to a big slope right of the 13th green as he tries to access the left pin.

It lands exactly where he wants and kicks left, only for all its momentum to be stopped by a sprinkler head at the side of the green.

From facing a 10-20ft birdie putt, he now has 50ft...

He tidies up nicely though to make par - well done.

    Knapp -10 (15)

Chris Gotterup has a two-shot lead again as Jake Knapp spills a stroke.

The American overshoots the 15th green and can't get up and down. He is now one of four players on 10 under.

  14. Aberg plummets down leaderboardpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time

    Aberg -7 (13)

No-one in the army of volunteers at 13 could locate Ludvig Aberg's second shot, meaning he needed to get up and down to make a double bogey.

The Swede's putt slides by though and he walks away with a triple-bogey seven.

He's dropped four shots in two holes.

    McIlroy -10, Straka -7 (15)

    So unlucky for Rory McIlroy.

He doesn't have much green to work with as he digs his way out of the front-right bunker on 15.

The ball lands softly and looks destined for the bottom of the cup, but it hits the pin and somehow stays above ground. Par it is then.

  16. 'Nice to be in contention again' - Clarkpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time

Wyndham Clark, the 2023 US Open champion, has had just one top-10 finish this year and missed the cut in two of his past three events.

No wonder he's pretty chuffed with his work so far this week.

After a third-round 66 to head into the final day on nine under, the American says: "I haven't had a great year and I haven't been in contention very often.

"It's just nice to be back in this position and let's see if I can go put a good round together and have four solid days of golf.

"I've hit a lot of good putts all year and I just haven't holed anything. And now it's just nice to see the ball go in the hole. Made a couple adjustments and they seem to work."

    Aberg -10 (12)

Ludvig Aberg hits the 13th fairway as he tries to recover from the bogey at 12, but his second shot is dragged miles left into thick, thick rough.

There's a 50ft drop down to the beach below, so he plays a provisional ball that also lands left of the green.

Not where you want to be...

    Aberg -10 (12)

Dearie me. Ludvig Aberg has a chance to tie the lead - but ends up dropping a shot.

The Swede isn't far away with a birdie try on the par three, only to then miss the resulting tiddler and fall to 10 under.

    McIlroy -10 (14)

Oh hello, Rory has roared... The Northern Irishman drains a fine putt on 14 and is now within two of the lead. The tension rachets up a little more.

    Knapp -11 (14)

Jake Knapp's fine day gets better at the par-three 14th.

A lovely tee shot to three feet and a tap-in for birdie.

He joins Ludvig Aberg at 11 under.
