    Scheffler -4, Clark -7 (6)

A pinpoint tee shot from Scottie Scheffler at the stadium hole - the par-three sixth - lands three feet from the pin, but the world number one can't convert with the flat stick.

    That won't help his mood...

Wyndham Clark also makes par to stay at seven under.

  2. Clark and Kim set early pacepublished at 14:54 British Summer Time

Of the players on the course, Wyndham Clark and South Korean Tom Kim are fair making a move.

Clark, as Martin just mentioned, is now at seven under and in a tie for sixth.

He's joined there by 23-year-old Kim, who has been tipped for big things, who is through eight holes and in the group ahead of Clark.

Scottie Scheffler's mood doesn't improve after only making par on the fifth, statistically the easiest hole on the course.

Wyndam Clark is up to seven under on the leaderboard after his second gain of the day.

The tee shots were similar, both just shy of the green, but Scheffler's short game let him down.

  4. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -2 (13)

    Ach, unlucky for Justin Rose.

His long look at par narrowly creeps past the right edge of the hole. Bogey it is.

Viktor Hovland's birdie putt just needed a bit more power behind it and he'd pick up a shot, but it wasn't to be as he taps in for a par.

  5. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time

    Schauffele -6, Harman -5 (1)

American pair Xander Schauffele and Brian Harman do well to scramble and make par having both been in the sand down the first hole.

Schauffele is a previous winner round this track and will want to make a move today.

  6. Scheffler in a spinpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time

    Scheffler -4, Clark -6 (4)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

Scottie Scheffler isn't always one to show his emotions, but the world number one is absolutely fuming after a bogey on four where he found trouble off the tee.

Arms flailing, he mutters to caddie Ted Scott all the off the green and right up to the fifth tee.

  7. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time

    Schauffele -6 (1)

    Richard Winton
BBC Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Xander Schauffele has cracked a driving iron off the first and appears to have found a fairway bunker.

Bad start for last year's Open champion.

  8. 🚨 Hole in one 🚨published at 14:31 British Summer Time

    Langasque -4 (14)

Frenchman Romain Langasque has just aced the par-three 14th.

145 yards from the tee. Magic.

  9. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -3 (12)

Another excellent par save from Viktor Hovland after his birdie putt pulled up well short on the par-three 12th.

Justin Rose followed suit and rolled it in for par.

Meet Ghetto. This harris hawk is on shift here at the Scottish Open.

His job? To scare away the seagulls.

He is doing fine work so far even though he "hates this heat", according to trainer Robert, who skooshes Ghetto with water to keep him cool.

  11. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Scheffler -5, Clark -6 (3)

Three pars in a row for Scottie Scheffler.

Given his prowess over the last 24 months or so, if he gets going, the leaders will be looking over their shoulder for him, never mind anyone else.

Wyndham Clark also has his eye in early on with another birdie moving him to six under.

So once the players have come off the 18th and done all their paperwork, they’ll come here - just in behind the first tee - for a blether.

  13. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -3 (11)

A fiendishly difficult birdie putt on the 11th for Viktor Hovland. Just 45 feet to go.

It sweeps up and down and left and right multiple times; no wonder he's marching up and down his line checking for any change in the grain of the grass.

The line he picks is decent, but he burns it 10 feet past the cup. A tester for par is plonked in with confidence.

Justin Rose has a closer look at birdie - it would be the first birdie of the day on 11 - but also shoots it past the target.

He too tidies up for par with a composed stroke.

  14. Postpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time

    Forrest -5 (1)

Scotland's Grant Forrest is through his first hole of the day.

A par at the first keeps him at five under for the tournament and well-placed to make a move up the board.

  15. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time

    Scheffler -5, Clark -5 (2)

Wyndham Clark, 2023 US Open champ, gets his dropped shot from the first back at the second with a neat birdie.

Back-to-back pars for Scottie Scheffler through his opening two holes.

  16. Biride for Rosepublished at 14:03 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -3 (10)

A par for Viktor Hovland and a birdie for Justin Rose after an eventful 10th hole.

That stops the rot for the Englishman, well played.

  17. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -2 (9)

Justin Rose's tee shot was in the thick stuff on the par-five 10th and had to lay up with his second, no chance of chasing it to the green.

He skips his third up to the hole and stuns it, leaving about eight feet for par.

Viktor Hovland has to get creative and now has a 32-footer for par. He made a seven here yesterday, so even a par would be a welcome relief for him.

  18. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time

    Hovland -5, Rose -2 (9)

Viktor Hovland is in the middle of the 10th fairway, wood in hand.

    Aaaaand he tops it.

I feel seen. I could have hit that for him if he wanted it duffed off to the right.

His 'top' still travels around 250 yards, mind you. 60 or so left to the pin.

  19. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time

    Scheffler -5, Clark -4 (1)

A par at the first for Scottie Scheffler. Steady going.

His playing partner, Wyndham Clark, bogeys and drops a shot very early on.

    Syme +1 (72), Campillo -4 (67)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

It has all gone wrong for Scotland's Connor Syme on the back nine today.

He bounded to the turn with three birdies and not a blemish on his card, only to come undone with four bogeys.

The final insult is another dropped shot on 18 after three putting. A 72 leaves him one over for the tournament.

Spain's Jorge Campillo completes a fine day's work by making par for a 67 to sit four under.
