  1. Horror start for Bobpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +5, MacIntyre +1, Rahm +2

Robert MacIntyre's in all sorts of problems down the first, spraying his tee shot into the right rough and staying there with his second shot, then dumping his third into the greenside bunker.

It doesn't get any better either as he leaves his fourth shot in the sand! Big number coming up....

Sam, Bermuda: Somewhere, Colin Montgomerie is having a chuckle…

In Colin's defence, he did clarify his pre-Open comments and wish Tiger Woods well

    Scheffler -3, Spieth +3, Young +4 (17)

Jordan Spieth fancies the 18th fairway and batters it straight down the pipe - more than 400 yards with the help of the prevailing wind.

His fellow Texan Scottie Scheffler has connected well but it's running, trundling and dropping into a fairway bunker.

That'll halt his momentum a bit.

  4. Scheffler saves par at 17published at 14:44 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -3, Spieth +3, Young +4 (17)

None of this trio are able to land on the green at the 17th so we're back to scrambling skills.

Scottie Scheffler leaves himself 15 feet to avoid a two-shot swing to Shane Lowry and wow, he's sunk it. Gutsy from the world number one.

Both Jordan Spieth and Cam Young miss their par putts and slip further back.

  5. 'Very different story for Lowry this time'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (69)

    Kat Downes
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

Shane Lowry missed the cut the last time that The Open was played here at Royal Troon.

It’s been a very different story for him over the opening two rounds and he finds himself, for now, at the top of the leaderboard at the half-way stage of this Open Championship.

  6. Can Bryson figure it out?published at 14:44 British Summer Time 19 July

    Aberg +4, DeChambeau +5 (14:48 BST)

"I'll figure it out," said Bryson DeChambeau last night after shooting 76 when arriving full of confidence after his US Open victory.

He did get an eagle on 16 but otherwise his big-hitting style didn't really suit Royal Troon, as with his power he may be better off taking driver out of the equation and using long irons off tees.

Ludvig Aberg looked to have figured golf out completely but it's his first Open and he was caught out a bit with his 75. He rarely puts two bad rounds together though so expect a response today.

  7. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (69)

A 66 followed by a 69 - Shane Lowry is the only player to have shot two under-par rounds so far at this Open.

Scottie Scheffler might become the second in a few minutes...

  8. Bob under waypublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +5, MacIntyre +1, Rahm +2

Robert MacIntyre gets the usual rousing reception as he steps onto the first tee to get his second round under way.

He's probably just about fully sober now after his Scottish Open celebrations so let's see what he can do.

  9. Lowry finishes with a birdiepublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (69)

A massive roar from the 18th green!

Shane Lowry finds the bottom of the cup from 20 feet and heads to the clubhouse on seven under par after a round of 69.

His fist is raised as he collects his ball.

Five years on from his only major triumph to date, Lowry is in position A to try to win a second.

  10. JT blown away with double bogeypublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 19 July

    Thomas +2 (5)

Wow! If you needed any more illustration of how strong this wind is, Justin Thomas has taken a fairway wood on the long par-three fifth hole and come up 80 yards short!

Yes, that's 80 (eighty) yards short. He's popped it up into the wind and the ball has gone nowhere, dropping down into the rough 131 yards away - when the hole is 215 yards today.

He eventually takes five to get it into the hole and his chances are getting blown away, quite literally.

  11. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -5 (12)

Dan Brown keeps trundling along nicely - another routine par on the 12th.

Stay out of trouble on the way home and there's every chance that he and Shane Lowry will be playing together in the final group on Saturday.

  12. 'Scheffler extremely ominous for the rest of the field'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -3 (16)

    John Murray
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Clearly this is extremely ominous for the rest of the field that Scottie Scheffler should now be in a tie for third, having been 11th overnight.

  13. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 19 July

    Rose -3 (6)

    Richard Winton
    BBC Scotland at Royal Troon

The sixth is long enough at the best of times, at 600 yards and change. But into this wind, the players are almost having to stop for bed and breakfast halfway.

Justin Rose even took a wee detour, spanking his third off to the left of the green accompanied by a yelp of frustration.

Had left himself too much to do to rescue par? No chance. The Englishman drains a lengthy putt to stay within three.

  14. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -6 (17)

A chance of a closing birdie for Shane Lowry, who sends his approach to within 20 feet.

He'll have that for a round of 69.

He takes the acclaim of the galleries surrounding the 18th green as he makes his way up to mark his ball.

  15. MacIntyre well in touchpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fleetwood +5, MacIntyre +1, Rahm +2 (14:37 BST)

    Robert MacIntyreImage source, Getty Images

Robert MacIntyre finished off with a birdie yesterday for a 72 in a round that will have shaken off any lingering, erm, tiredness shall we say from his Scottish Open celebrations.

Today will be proper western Scotland weather so Bob should enjoy this test if his putting can improve - as he was T11 in birdie chances inside 10 feet yesterday but needs to convert a few more.

Tommy Fleetwood usually does well in these conditions but not yesterday, while Jon Rahm is not out of things at all and that two over is one where anything is still possible for him today.

  16. Woods heading to next Openpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 19 July

    Woods +14 (77)

    Tiger WoodsImage source, Getty Images

Tiger Woods says he will definitely be at Royal Portrush for the 153rd Open Championship next year.

  17. Scheffler birdies 16published at 14:33 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -3, Spieth +2, Young +3 (16)

The winner? Of course, it's Scottie Scheffler who is walking off the 16th hole with a birdie tucked away.

Up to three under now and lurking menacingly.

The others are disappointed to only make par.

    Woods +14 (77)

And here's the scrum to get a question to Tiger post round. Just three questions allowed... many golfers would love to stroll away if they were 14 over and heading home, but credit to Woods for fronting up.

  19. Morikawa finishes wellpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +1 (70)

    Collin MorikawaImage source, Getty Images

Collin Morikawa shot a two-under 33 on the back nine and it could have been a bit better for the American, but for a missed birdie putt from six feet on the final green.

The 2021 Open champion will be in the mix at the weekend.

  20. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -2, Spieth +2, Young +3 (15)

Now for that sand contest. Here's how close they got their balls:

    Cameron Young - 23 feet.

    Jordan Spieth - eight feet.

    Scottie Scheffler - five feet.

    They'll have those for birdie.
