    MacIntyre +1 (14:37 BST)

The TV pictures pick up Bob MacIntyre posing for a couple of pictures with fans shortly after arriving at Royal Troon.

The hometown hero will resume on one over par in a couple of hours' time.

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +4 (9)

An ugly tee shot from Jordan Spieth at the 10th draws an apology for "unfortunate language" from the broadcasters.

    He's heaved it way right.

  3. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +3 (11)

Collin Morikawa is in that danger zone of players who need a decent finish to their round to ensure they'll be at Troon for the weekend.

Holing a six-footer for birdie on the 11th will do him no harm at all.

  4. Can Rose bloom in Troon?published at 12:32 British Summer Time 19 July

    Rose -2 (12:42 BST)

    Justin RoseImage source, Getty Images

Justin Rose got in nice and early with a two-under round of 69 yesterday morning and he would absolutely bite your hand off for something similar today given conditions.

He had some rain to deal with but not the force of the winds that are whipping up across the Ayrshire links right now.

Rose didn't make a bogey yesterday either, so despite having to come through qualifying this year his game looks more than good enough to put a challenge in.

    Brown -5 (5)

Dan Brown pars the fifth, his long birdie putt coming up a couple of feet short of the cup on the par three.

  6. Scheffler stays one under after front ninepublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +5 (9)

No fireworks from Scottie Scheffler yet today but he's slapped another shot onto the green and finishes off his front nine with a par.

One birdie and one bogey today - and that's the same as Jordan Spieth, who remains one shot behind his playing partner.

Grisly for Cameron Young who ended up deep in the undergrowth. A double bogey means his place at the weekend is now in jeopardy.

    Lowry -7 (10)

Oh no! A golden birdie chance missed from five feet.

It wasn't the easiest by any means, but Shane Lowry tickles it towards the hole and it breaks too far right.

  8. Horschel in with a 68published at 12:26 British Summer Time 19 July

    Horschel -2 (68)

Billy Horschel may have a rather awkward hunched-over putting posture that resembles Mr Burns off the Simpsons, but he knows how to get the ball in the hole.

He's just finished off his second round in a three-under 68 to finish on two under par, which is currently T5 and could look even better if the wind picks up as it looks like it's doing right now.

  9. Gusts up to 30mphpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 July

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Royal Troon

The wind is whipping the roof of the media tent, which this year is just off the back of and between the 18th green and first tee.

I just went to walk outside the door and a gust blew me back inside.

I might just be a little more cosy in here for lunch.

  10. Cantlay moves four under for his roundpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -2, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (11)

Patrick Cantlay goes first at the 11th. Birdied. He's been the best player on the course so far today.

Xander Schauffele goes second but he misses right. He's just sticking around at the moment.

    Lowry -7 (9)

Shane Lowry gets a heck of a break, his tee shot landing in an area of rough that's been trampled down by the crowds at Royal Troon this week.

His approach to the green is a sumptuous one, to within five feet.

    A three-shot lead incoming?

  12. Fast start for Norenpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 19 July

    Noren -3 (2)

Sweden's Alex Noren was one of the last men to make the field after a T10 finish at the Scottish Open last week, but he's making the most of it as he makes an early birdie on the second to improve to three under and improve to T3.

It's his 12th Open this week, and he came T23 last year at Hoylake, so knows his way around the links. He could be one to watch...

  13. Postpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -1, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (10)

Peas in a pod Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay as their balls nestle next to each other on the 11th green.

Both have made mincemeat of this difficult hole and at least one of them should walk away with a birdie.

    Commentator’s curse?

Mike in Hoylake: Re post at 11:41 BST, golf is good for me unless I watch it, play it, bet on it or try to enjoy it at all.

Shane Lowry takes out the driver on the 10th tee but squeaks it left.

  16. 'Brown might only ever lead The Open once in his life'published at 12:14 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -5 (4)

    James Gregg
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Dan Brown was still sharing stuff (on social media) and was replying to me at half past midnight. He wasn’t in bed at half past 11. He is trying to enjoy it because he might only ever lead The Open once in his life.

Part of him is thinking that, the professionalism is thinking he’s got to try to kick on.

  17. Postpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -1, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (10)

Such a spectacular tee box at the 11th with the railway line trundling down the side.

Three beautiful tee shots from this trio and away they go.

  18. 'Lowry can set a big mark'published at 12:13 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (9)

    Catriona Matthew
Captain of Team Europe at the 2019 & 2021 Solheim Cup

Lowry has to keep doing what he’s doing. Fairways, greens and hopefully his putter gets a bit hotter.

If he can get to 10 under coming in, that’s a big mark for some of those coming this afternoon to catch. Especially if the wind picks up and the conditions get a little harder.

  19. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (9)

Shane Lowry gets another look at a birdie putt from long range. It'll be a par.

Two under for his round and he's got a two-shot lead.

  20. Brown drops a shotpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -5 (4)

Unless he can hole from off the green, Dan Brown's bogey-free run is going to come to an end on the fourth - and it does.

A wild second shot went way left and, after pitching back onto the fairway, his fourth took a bounce left off the putting surface.

He rescues a bogey six, but he's now two off Shane Lowry's lead.
