  1. Pars for Schauffele and Cantlaypublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -1, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (10)

Patrick Cantlay doesn't really do much emotion but there's a flicker of emotion as his birdie putt drifts by the 10th hole.

Both he and Xander Schauffele have let chances slip there.

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +2 (8)

Recover from your errors well, they say, and Jordan Spieth has done that successfully at eight.

Pars too for Scottie Scheffler and Cam Young.

    Postage Stamp navigated.

  3. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +3 (9)

Collin Morikawa is quietly going about his business with little alarm, but without really lighting things up either.

He reaches the turn in one over and is three over for the tournament.

That's currently where the cut line is, although you can expect that to rise by a couple of shots during the course of today.

  4. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -1, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (9)

Super second shot from Patrick Cantlay on the 10th sets up a 12-foot birdie. Metronomic golf so far from the Californian.

Xander Schauffele joins him on the green, only a few feet further back.

Be a nice start to the back nine to slot home here.

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +2 (7)

I'm gawping at Jordan Spieth's tee shot, Richard.

He's chosen the wrong club and hit it too hard.

    Bunker time.

  7. Where to look?published at 11:59 British Summer Time 19 July

    Richard Winton
    BBC Scotland at Royal Troon

You're not short of things to gawp at while loitering around the eighth tee. In front of you, most obviously, is the Postage Stamp and the scope for chaos that brings.

To your right, the seventh green. And peer over the back of the grandstand, and assorted players are just down below arrowing approach shots into 10.

Add in the fact that it's hemmed in by the Firth of Clyde on one side and the train line to and from Glasgow on the other, and planes on their final approach to Prestwick Airport roar what seems like a just a few yards overhead, and it's quite the spot.

And should a few shafts of sun break through the gloom as predicted, it will be the place to be later on.

  8. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 19 July

    Horschel -2 (16)

Fine work from Billy Horschel at the 16th to make his way to two under for the tournament.

He's into a share of fourth.

  9. Birdie for Spieth at sevenpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +2 (7)

Some high level approaches into the seventh from this trio offer up inviting birdie chances.

Cam Young and Scottie Scheffler are timid down the slope and can't convert.

Jordan Spieth buries his though. A first birdie on the card for the 2017 champion.

  10. Lowry into outright leadpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (8)

Shane Lowry is back in the lead on his own.

The 2019 champion strikes his birdie putt beautifully, straight into the heart of the hole.

Two under for the day, seven under for the championship.

  11. Bogey for Woodspublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay -1, Schauffele -2, Woods +11 (9)

Xander Schauffele and Tiger Woods find themselves stuck out in rough down the left of the ninth green.

We've seen both out there already this morning and they once again get out of trouble skilfully, only for Woods to miss from short range and make bogey.

Can Patrick Cantlay chip in? No, he's taking par too.

  12. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 19 July

    Koepka +1 (10)

Another decent lag putt from distance from Brooks Koepka earns him another par on 10.

Solid rather than spectacular by the five-time major winner so far today.

So these white trousers that a lot of the players favour... how do they keep them so clean?

Most of us come off the course looking like we've done a day down a mine yet these boys are still spotless when they're finished. They're maybe not visiting the same parts of the course as us, mind you...

  14. Postpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fitzpatrick +3, Lowry -6 (8)

Shane Lowry on the tee on the eighth, which is playing 120 yards today.

He flirts with the bunker on the left side of the green but gets some spin at just the right time and will have a shot for birdie shortly.

Matt Fitzpatrick's day gets a bit worse, meanwhile. He's dropped four shots in the past four holes and is now in the fearsome greenside bunker.

  15. Brown saves parpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -6 (3)

Oh my goodness, that's one heck of a par save from Dan Brown on the third!

He holes from about 20 feet and he remains bogey-free for the tournament.

  16. Wind starting to blowpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 19 July

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Royal Troon

The wind is certainly beefing up a little. The flags are fluttering with a little more gusto and the flat Firth of Clyde is now swelling slightly with white-tipped waves rolling in to the sandy beach.

  17. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -6 (7)

A beautifully judged putt from Shane Lowry almost brings him a birdie on the seventh, but he'll have to make do with a par.

    The Postage Stamp awaits next...

  18. Postpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -6 (2)

Dan Brown has to splash out of the bunker and can only advance it about 15 yards, but his third is safely on the green and he has an outside chance of a par.

  19. Day going wellpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 19 July

    Day -1 (13)

We've seen Patrick Cantlay get to three under for his round but five holes further ahead Jason Day is on the same number and motoring.

The Australian has just downed a 25-foot putt for birdie at 13 and is into the red.
