    Scheffler -1, Spieth +1, Young +1 (4)

One leg hanging out of the bunker at right angles to his waist, Scottie Scheffler lines up his escape route and what a shot to get out of there.

Dizzyingly good to put himself within nine feet of saving par.

  2. Bigger is better?published at 11:16 British Summer Time 19 July

After that disappointing bogey at five, Shane Lowry is heading to the sixth hole.

And it's a beast - the longest in Open history at 623 yards.

Wondering how's the distances have changed over time?

    Check out Ken's explanation.

    Koepka +1 (7)

How does Brooks Koepka respond to that double bogey on six? Pretty well, actually.

However, his birdie attempt from about eight feet kisses the left edge of the hole and he knocks in a tiddler for par.

You might've heard about the worldwide Microsoft IT outages, affecting airlines, shops and healthcare this morning.

Our colleagues at BBC Radio 5 Live are understandably following that massive story for a while longer, meaning their Open coverage will now commence at midday.

  5. First birdie of the day for Woodspublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay E, Schauffele E, Woods +10 (6)

    Tiger WoodsImage source, PA Media

Loudest roar of the day on the par-five sixth as Tiger Woods finally gets a putt to drop. From 22 feet as well.

A semblance of a smile from the three-time Open champion.

Disappointing for Xander Schauffele as he misses for par and is +2 for his round so far today.

Good chance for Patrick Cantlay goes begging. Par.

  6. Bogey for Lowrypublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -6 (5)

Shane Lowry splashes out from the bunker to about seven feet, but the par putt breaks too far left.

That's his first bogey of the tournament, and it means he's back into a share of the lead with Dan Brown.

  7. Scheffler takes first birdiepublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -2, Spieth +1, Young +1 (4)

That's more like it from Scottie Scheffler as he drills home his first birdie of the day to move to two under.

He's meandering round at the moment but will keep his scorecard ticking over.

After putting from way off the green, Jordan Spieth leaves it short and doesn't take advantage to get a birdie. He's out with par like Cameron Young.

    Brown -6

Dan Brown, who held the overnight lead at Royal Troon, strikes his first shot of his second round - and it's a corker.

He takes driver and it bounds along the middle of the fairway - he's probably about 100 yards from the flag.

  9. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay E, Schauffele -1, Woods +11 ()

Marvellous recovery by Tiger Woods from the middle of nowhere at six. He's got a chance to escape with a five here.

Once again of this group, it's Patrick Cantlay who is weighing up a birdie chance.

  10. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (4)

Shane Lowry is two under through four holes today, but there's work to do to save par on the fifth as he finds the front bunker from the tee.

  11. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +2 (5)

Collin Morikawa struck a gorgeous tee shot within 10 feet on five, but the birdie putt stays up - only just, but it stays up.

Par for the two-time major winner.

  12. Double for Koepkapublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 19 July

    Koepka +1 (6)

That errant tee shot proves costly for Brooks Koepka as he misses from about six feet for a bogey, and two shots disappear in a flash.

  13. Postpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth +1, Young +1 (3)

Like a homing missile, Jordan Spieth's second shot bumps into Cameron Young's ball three quarters of the way down the fourth fairway.

You don't see that too often.

He's a shot ahead of his compatriot though as Young had to chip out of a bunker.

  14. Postpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fitzpatrick E (4)

While playing partner Shane Lowry was knocking in his short birdie putt, Matt Fitzpatrick was in prime position after two shots but ended up taking six.

A disappointing bogey for the Englishman.

  15. Jordan into top fourpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 19 July

    Jordan -2 (7)

    Hello, Matt Jordan.

The Englishman was top 10 at his home course last year at Royal Liverpool and here he is again.

That's delightful touch onto the seventh green and consecutive birdies lift him up to two under for the tournament.

  16. Postpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 19 July

    Brown -6 (11:04 BST)

How do you think Dan Brown will be feeling right about now?

About 10 minutes to go until our overnight leader heads out for his second round.

  17. Lowry into outright leadpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -7 (4)

    Shane LowryImage source, Getty Images

We're about to have a new outright leader.

Shane Lowry's third into the fourth green bounces about 15 feet past the pin and spins back delightfully to within a couple of feet.

A putt that I think I would be confident of making - and Lowry does, to take the lead on seven under.

  18. Burmester inches up the boardpublished at 10:52 British Summer Time 19 July

    Burmester -2 (8)

We're keeping across any moves on the front nine and the latest has come from South Africa's Dean Burmester.

Back-to-back birdies over seven and eight have leapt him to two under and a tie for fourth.

  19. Trouble lurking for Koepka?published at 10:51 British Summer Time 19 July

    Koepka -1 (5)

Brooks Koepka's tee shot on the par-five sixth goes way right. He's had to take a penalty drop and his third shot lands on the fairway, but 200-odd yards from the pin.

Would be some up-and-down for par from here, more likely it'll be a dropped shot incoming for Brooks.

  20. Latest bogey for Woodspublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay E, Schauffele -1, Woods +11 (4)

    Tiger WoodsImage source, Getty Images

Might hang up my live texting mike after that from Xander Schauffele.

What a magical shot out of the rough as he rolls it to inside a foot of the pin. Genius way to save par.

Tiger Woods gets out of the bunker as Ken recommended but it holds up and leaves 21 feet for par. His putt, brutally, stays up.
