  1. Morikawa bogeys the fourthpublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +2 (4)

No sooner had Collin Morikawa got his first birdie of the day, Royal Troon has bitten back.

A visit to a fairway bunker leads to a bogey six on the fourth hole.

    Cantlay E, Schauffele -1, Woods +10 (4)

Not seeing the usual class from Xander Schauffele yet this morning. He’s just flung his tee shot into the par-three fifth way left into the native area out there.

    A few expletives follow.

Patrick Cantlay is on the green, some distance from the hole while Tiger Woods is in the bunker.

  4. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth +1, Young +1 (3)

Sand trouble for Jordan Spieth at the third and he has to find the hole from 12 feet to save par. Missed.

Delightful approaches from Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young though who both have birdie chances.

    Neither can convert.

  5. Another par for Brookspublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 19 July

    Koepka -1 (5)

Brooks Koepka has an outside chance of a birdie on the par-three fifth and lags a putt beautifully to within a few inches.

    A tap-in par.

Hideki Matsuyama gives back the shot he picked up on the previous hole and is back to four over.

  6. Cantlay gets another birdiepublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay E, Schauffele -1, Woods +10 (3)

First up is Xander Schauffele but his birdie effort is too strong and drifts past the hole.

Tiger Woods goes next but there’s a hint of frustration as his ball hangs right and stays up.

Finally, it’s a more positive stroke from Patrick Cantlay who moves up to level par for the tournament. A nice move from the Californian this morning.

  7. Siem's strugglespublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 19 July

    Siem +1, Ferguson +5 (16)

    Marcel SiemImage source, PA Media

Marcel Siem is huffing and puffing a little as he wanders down the 16th fairway. He's had a trip to the rough so couldn't reach the par-five green in two.

And he's thoroughly disgusted with his third from 117 yards, chunking a wedge that comes up to the front edge of the green, some 45-feet from the hole. I'd have been disappointed with that one. Two putts and a par.

He's playing with Scotland's Ewen Ferguson who has been unable to get anything going today. Two bogeys and 14 pars so far for the 28-year-old.

  8. Postpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fitzpatrick -1, Lowry -6 (3)

Three great approaches to the third hole, but no birdies.

Shane Lowry's putt from 10 feet starts right and stays right.

    He's creating chances, though.

  9. Postpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay +1, Schauffele -1, Woods +10 (3)

The par-five fourth is a monster but it does have some give for wayward tee shots.

Both Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele profit from that to be on the green in three and weighing up inviting birdie prospects.

No mistakes from Tiger Woods on the hole so far and he'll have 10 feet to drag a shot back.

  11. Conners makes trackspublished at 10:28 British Summer Time 19 July

    Conners -2 (13)

We have a new entrant to the masses at -2 as Corey Conners snags his fourth birdie of the day at 13.

The Canadian is very consistent and he's only got five more holes to navigate.

  12. Postpublished at 10:27 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fitzpatrick -1, Lowry -6 (2)

Three tremendous shots into the second green, leaving Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cam Smith all within 15 feet.

A chance for the outright lead for Lowry...

  13. Postpublished at 10:25 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +1 (2)

Jordan Spieth lines up a similar length putt to Scottie Scheffler and sends it tight.

He and his playing partners will all walk away with pars after Cameron Young safely escapes a greenside bunker.

  14. Postpublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 19 July

    Koepka -1 (4)

Brooks Koepka will want that pitch back on the par-five fourth.

Close to the green in two, Koepka gets his third all wrong and flies it to about 20 feet past the pin. He has to settle for a par.

  15. Postpublished at 10:21 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +2 (1)

Fine recovery from Scottie Scheffler as he whistles his second shot from the edge of the fairway bunker into the heart of the green.

Thirty feet isn't a tantalising birdie chance, but given the stance he had to adopt, that was nifty work from the world number one.

  16. Birdie for Collinpublished at 10:20 British Summer Time 19 July

    Morikawa +1 (3)

Collin Morikawa is rewarded for his close approach with a birdie on the third.

  17. Postpublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 19 July

    Cantlay +1, Schauffele -1, Woods +10 (3)

A shank off the tee from Patrick Cantlay at four flies into a crowd of spectators.

He puts his arm out to acknowledge it but we probably needed a shout there Patrick.

I imagine it'll be fine over there in all the trampled rough.

  18. Postpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 19 July

    Fitzpatrick -1, Lowry -6 (2)

The birdie putt doesn't drop but it's an easy tap-in par for Shane Lowry, who stays at six under.

Matt Fitzpatrick escapes from a greenside bunker to leave the second hole with a par of his own.

  19. Young opens with birdiepublished at 10:11 British Summer Time 19 July

    Scheffler -1, Spieth E, Young +1 (1)

Cracking start for Cameron Young as he nails his 11-foot birdie putt at the first.

He's followed into the hole by partners Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, albeit they take par.

  20. Postpublished at 10:11 British Summer Time 19 July

    Lowry -6 (1)

Another well played hole so far by Shane Lowry, whose approach to the second from the centre of the fairway flies right over the top of the flag and comes to rest on the green.

Probably one club too much, but distances are so difficult to judge in these conditions.

He'll get a look at a birdie putt from about 30 feet.
