Europe's Rasmus Hojgaard is a Ryder Cup rookie so will look to lean on Ludvig Aberg for some guidance on how to handle the pressure.

Aberg, playing in his second Ryder Cup, will be feeling confident after his success over Russell Henley and Scottie Scheffler in the foursomes alongside Matt Fitzpatrick earlier.

Justin Thomas typically performs well in fourballs - normally alongside Jordan Spieth - and will be the the senior partner for the USA alongside Cameron Young.

A bit more like it from Scottie Scheffler on the second as he hoists a highe wedge up over the flag and lands it 20 feet away.

Sepp Straka spins in his to a couple of feet closer than that with his second shot and these two will battle for the hole with their partners in trouble.

US skipper Keegan Bradley bowed down in front of President Trump when he arrived on the first tee.

Trump then emerged from his glass box to welcome Bryson DeChambeau onto the tee and the two chatted before the President watched all four players tee off.

He then tried to get a U. S. A chant going, which floundered.

A warm embrace awaits Bryson De Chambeau from US President Donald Trump as the players make their way on to the first tee.

Trump has a bit of a chinwag with US captain Keegan Bradley, as Justin Rose readies himself for Europe.

The Englishman flies over the trees down the right to cut the corner and his ball is well positioned on the fairway. Fleetwood is up next and drifts left.

Now it's DeChambeau, who to a huge cheer, plays an almost exact replica of the tee shot he hit this morning in the foursomes to land in prime position. Ben Griffin's ball is also handily placed.

    It's quite the scene.

President Trump was stood in the glass box in frfont of the 8,000-strong stand. I imagine his security detail were pretty nervous as he came out and stood at the first tee, just 10 yards behind Bryson DeChambeau and Ben Griffin.

How's that for hitting your first shot in the Ryder Cup?

What an atmosphere - it's absolutely bonkers out there.

  6. Spaun starts with a birdiepublished at 17:42 BST 26 September

    1UP Scheffler/Spaun v Rahm/Straka (1)

JJ Spaun does the business from three feet and that's a confident way to play your first hole in the Ryder Cup.

The fourballs are much more to the USA's liking of late, with more freedom to go for shots and hunt down flags - whereas Europe often prefer the discipline of foursomes.

  7. Match Twopublished at 17:41 BST 26 September

    Griffin/DeChambeau v Fleetwood/Rose (17:41 BST)

Rookie Ben Griffin is a big personality so will Keegan Bradley's decision to pair him Bryson DeChambeau reap dividends for the hosts.

Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood are big pals and have good records in this format, with both at 50% or above success rates in terms of points accrued.

    Scheffler/Spaun v Rahm/Straka

JJ Spaun almost goes and sinks his chip shot from the right rough on the first hole - that would've sent Bethpage nuts if that dropped.

That's stone dead so now Straka or Rahm have to make their puts from the front edge to halve the hole.

  9. Trump's in townpublished at 17:34 BST 26 September

    Donald on the first tee?

No it's not Team Europe's captain Luke, but the leader of the free world.

  10. And we're off!published at 17:30 BST 26 September

    Scheffler/Spaun v Rahm/Straka

Jon Rahm finds the left rough with a solid nut of a drive. Sepp Straka follows him over there, it's not on the fairway but with a front flag it's not the worst spot.

JJ Spaun hits first for the USA and he's short right while Scottie Scheffler hits the worst of the bunch with a wide left.

The world number one wasn't quite right this morning so let's see if he can find his form playing his own ball.

  11. Match Onepublished at 17:26 BST 26 September

    Scheffler/Spaun v Rahm/Straka (17:25 BST)

The same boos for Jon Rahm as he heard this morning, possibly not quite as loud, and a huge cheer for Scottie Scheffler and JJ Spaun.

    Rahm up first...

Scottie Scheffler took a bit of a beating this morning so expect the world number one to come out firing this afternoon alongside rookie JJ Spaun - who is no ordinary rookies as the reigning US Open champion.

Sepp Straka comes in and he plays alongside Jon Rahm - who just loves going out first!

The USA has only overcome a 3-1 deficit or worse to win the Ryder Cup on two previous occasions in 1949 and 1971.

In total its only happened five times in Ryder Cup history with Europe also doing so in 1957, 1985 and 2018.

This is only the sixth time Europe have led after the first session of a Ryder Cup following 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2023 – they went on to win on four of those occasions, but lost in Brookline after being 2.5 v 1.5 ahead.

McIlroy & Fleetwood duo win point for Europe

Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy played beautifully this morning, but Luke Donald has split them up for the fourballs this afternoon.

He's hoping their games can still thrive and in Justin Rose and Shane Lowry they've got new partners who aren't exactly novices.

Take a look at how Fleetwood Mac ran riot this morning.

  15. Cantlay v McIlroy again...published at 17:17 BST 26 September

At the last Ryder Cup when Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy played each other it almost ended up with a punch-up in the car park after the American's caddie Joe LaCava got too involved in matters at the end of the match.

With Shane Lowry now in the mix, I can't see this one boiling over again....

US President Donald Trump arrivesImage source, get

You know it's been a difficult morning for the home side when one of the fans shouts "we need you out on the course!", as President Donald Trump arrives on the first tee.

Trump is a useful golfer, especially for a man of 79, but is unlikely to trouble the finest players in Europe off stick end.

    And breathe.

But we've not got long to wait until we're back in business.

The fourballs are getting under way at 5.25pm BST and we'll be straight back on it.

Plenty of questions for the world number one Scottie Scheffler to answer in that opening group.

Quite a nice touch to give Michael Jordan, once of the Chicago Bulls and arguably the NBA's greatest ever player, the number 23 on his inside the ropes credentials.

It is the same number he wore when helping the Bulls achieve two three-peats back in the 1990s.

Apparently American journalist James Colgan, external was chatting to his Airness, who summarised the morning session rather aptly, saying "we got problems."

With that point on the board though, will the Americans fight back?

In good time for the arrival of the first fourball pairing on the tee, President Donald Trump arrives in the grandstand.

It whips up the crowd into a very loud chant of "U-S-A! U-S-A!".

The golf-mad President shakes hands with multiple people and takes his place before a rendition of the national anthem.
