  1. Kim moves within two shots of leadpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 17 May

    Kim -7 (13*)

Tom Kim underlined his potential to be a future major champion at the Open last year when he ended up in a tie for second.

And after clipping a wedge into nine feet, the 21-year-old from South Korea sinks the uphill putt to climb into a quartet all two shots adrift of leader Xander Schauffele.

  2. Birdie for Raipublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 17 May

    Rai -5 (15)

A second birdie of the day has England's Aaron Rai lingering just outside the top 10 in a tie for 12th.

The man from Wolverhampton looks to be relishing the wet and pretty gloomy conditions and is yet to have any blemishes on his card.

  3. Postpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 17 May

    Morikawa -7 (12*)

Collin Morikawa continues to trundle along quietly, keeping his card clean and giving himself chances.

A long-range birdie putt skips by at the third and it's another par for the 2020 champion.

    He's not going anywhere.

  4. Lip out!published at 18:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Clark +1, Harman -3, Scheffler -6 (10*)

Almost another long putt nailed by Scottie Scheffler as the ball lips out on the first, taking a 90 degree turn and dipping to have a look inside the hold but deciding against dropping in.

Wyndham Clark drops a shot again and now he's facing a battle to make the cut.

  5. Postpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 17 May

    Hubbard -8 (8*)

Mark Hubbard with a chance for a share of the lead on the 17th...

The American is right on the edge of the green putting from 29 feet but this has got a chance...ohhh his ball is marginally right. Another half inch to the left and that drops.

  6. Birdie for Detrypublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 17 May

    Detry -7 (12)

Glorious, simply glorious. Thomas Detry spirals his second in to three feet on the 12th from 179 yards and then taps in for birdie.

The Belgian, still has a clean card today and is looking incredibly solid.

  7. Another birdie for Fitzpatrickpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 17 May

    Fitzpatrick -2 (11*)

Matt Fitzpatrick finds himself on the fringe of the green and picks out his wedge rather than his putter.

Right decision too as his ball takes one bounce and rolls calmly into the cup for a second straight birdie.

He's hauling himself away from trouble - and is back to where he started round two.

  8. Moving on uppublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 17 May

    Eckroat -7 (10)

Austin Eckroat has leapt up the leaderboard over the past hour. Four successive birdies have lifted the 25-year-old from Oklahoma up to a share of third.

It's getting congested behind our leader, who is still in the dry and due to go out in about 90 minutes

  9. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 17 May

    English -7 (13*)

Back-to-back birdies for Harris English at the third and fourth but he can't drop in a third on the spin from downtown on the fifth.

The 34-year-old American is currently sat alongside Collin Morikawa and Alex Noren on seven under, and probably fairly content with his day's work so far.

  10. Scottie just three backpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 17 May

    Clark +1, Harman -3, Scheffler -6 (9*)

Scottie Scheffler's hit another bobby dazzler to 18, leaving five feet for birdie, which he rolls in nicely as it wasn't easy.

He goes to six under and just three off the lead with his third birdie of the day.

Open champion Brian Harman obviously plays well in wet conditions, as he's showing again with a four at 18 making it four birdies in his front nine to move him on to three under.

  11. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 17 May

    Morikawa -7, Fitzpatrick -1 (10*)

That's a beauty from Collin Morikawa as he takes aim at the flag with his second shot on the first.

He's dinked it to inside six feet and should back it up with the putter. No! He's dragged his effort wide and stares blankly at it for a moment.

Playing partner Matt Fitzpatrick leaves the first green happier - he's found a second consecutive birdie and duly hauls himself back above the cut line.

  12. Scheffler court date setpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 17 May

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Scottie Scheffler will appear at the Kentucky Court of Justice on Tuesday, 21 May at 09:00 ET (14:00 BST) according to reports in the United States.

USA Today are among those reporting his arraignment date.

He may well be turning up having won the opening two majors of the season...

  13. Birdie for Norenpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 17 May

    Noren -7 (12)

Alex Noren has 10 DP World Tour wins to his name but hasn't really threatened the top of the leaderboard that often when it comes to the majors, albeit he has a couple of top-10 finishes at the Open Championship (2012 and 2017).

The Swede nudged a decent birdie chance left on the 10th from five feet but has just drained a 20-footer on the 12th to move within two shots of the lead. There's no rhyme or reason to this game sometimes.

  14. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 17 May

    Rahm E (9*)

A slippery birdie putt on the 18th for Jon Rahm slides by on the left of the hole bringing a frustrated bend of the knees from the LIV golfer.

That would have boxed off a level par front nine - as it is, he heads to the first tee one over for his day.

  15. Another par for Schefflerpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 17 May

    Clark +1, Harman -2, Scheffler -5 (8*)

Scottie Scheffler may just be losing the adrenaline of the situation now as he struggles to pick up shots but he's ticking off the pars well enough.

One more to go in his front nine.

  16. Shattuck to stick around?published at 17:27 British Summer Time 17 May

    Shattuck -3 (5*)

Braden Shattuck is making light of the wet conditions. The world number 4,317, who is one of the 20 club professionals has rolled in consecutive birdies on the 11th, 12 and 13th and is one of the form players so far today.

If he keeps this up the 29-year-old will have a decent chance of sticking around for the weekend.

  17. Morikawa snags second birdie of the daypublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 17 May

    Morikawa -7 (9*)

As the rain gets heavier at Valhalla, Collin Morikawa's round looks even brighter as he slots home a birdie on the par-five 18th.

He's gone round his front nine in two under par and closed to within two shots of overnight leader Xander Schauffele.

    Polished play from the Californian.

  18. Double bogey for Rahm at 17published at 17:21 British Summer Time 17 May

    Rahm E (8*)

It's a punishing double bogey for Jon Rahm who undoes all his good work from the previous holes and finds himself back at level par.

That's a dangerous place to be.

  19. Postpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 17 May

    Rahm -2 (7*)

When I was saying Jon Rahm looked dialled in, I perhaps spoke too soon as he shanks his drive on 17 way left into the undergrowth.

He's forced to chip out, even going slightly backwards and not quite reaching the fairway, before thundering his now third shot towards the green.

It leaves him 68 feet to save par as some of day one's troubles return for the Spaniard.

  20. Fitz pulls a birdie backpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 17 May

    Fitzpatrick E (8*)

More like it from Matt Fitzpatrick as he finds his touch on the 17th green to sink a birdie from 11-and-a-half feet.

After three bogeys in his opening seven holes, he'll head to his ninth hole of the day at level par for the tournament.
