  1. Rose eagles the 18thpublished at 01:10 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson -1 (68), McIlroy -5 (71), Rose -5 (67)

Rory McIlroy can't dispatch his eagle putt but makes a pretty decent fist of it and is able to finish off his round with a very welcome birdie.

DJ also claims a crucial four as Justin Rose dunks his ball in the cup for an eagle.

  2. Postpublished at 01:06 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson E, McIlroy -4, Rose -3 (17)

Could that be the shot that keeps DJ here for the weekend? He plays a stunning recovery to around four feet.

  3. Postpublished at 01:02 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson E, McIlroy -4, Rose -3 (17)

Cracking shot from Justin Rose into the par-five 18th. The Englishman plays that to perfection and will have a decent eagle chance from inside eight feet.

Rory McIlroy's approach goes sailing past his Ryder Cup teammate's ball. Soft hands needed here down the slope.

DJ needs a good second shot here from a similar position to Rose but zings his into the rough on the left.

  4. Birdie finish for four-time US PGA championpublished at 00:57 British Summer Time 18 May

    Woods +7 (77)

Tiger Woods has made it to the 18th green. It's going to be his last hole of the week. Can he finish it off with a birdie?

Yes he can. The 2000 champion here at Valhalla looks a little tired and forlorn, but a smile eventually breaks out as he acknowledges the cheers of the fans.

He remains the biggest draw in the game, despite his struggles.

Two triple bogeys - his first in almost 1,500 holes in this championship - in his opening four holes effectively scuttled him today.

  5. Bogey for Koepkapublished at 00:54 British Summer Time 18 May

    Koepka -7 (16)

Defending champion Brooks Koepka finds the sand of the greenside bunker as he chases down a fourth birdie in six holes to continue his climb up the leaderboard.

It looks quite deep in there but he splashes out to give himself a par putt. It's a five-footer, fairly straight. But he's pushed it.

  6. Postpublished at 00:49 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson E, McIlroy -4, Rose -3 (17)

Since his last birdie on the seventh Rory McIlroy has gone par, par, par, par, double bogey, par, par, par, par.

But for the second successive hole he zips his iron in to around 10 feet. It's a case of rinse and repeat for the Northern Irishman, whose putter remains stone cold.

  7. England's Wallace finishes stronglypublished at 00:47 British Summer Time 18 May

    Wallace -7 (65)

A top finish for England's Matt Wallace who hits a high floater out of the greenside bunker on the ninth and knocks in a four-footer for par. Six birdies, no bogeys and he's in great shape heading into the weekend.

  8. Aberg going home?published at 00:46 British Summer Time 18 May

    Schauffele -12 (68), Thomas -6 (67), Aberg E (70)

Back on the 18th green and Ludvig Aberg is sizing up his left-to-righter but it doesn't drop. It's a birdie to finish but it looks like his race will be run because those on level par look set to miss the halfway cut.

Here's Justin Thomas with a nervy downhiller which he almost starts off sideways. It's a beautifully judged putt to leave a tap-in par.

And finally, Xander Schauffele, who has hacked out of the rough to about 20 feet. His birdie putt is average and doesn't threaten the hole. Par finish for our leader who signs for a 68 but I'm sure he'll be telling us soon that he left a good few shots out there.

  9. Birdies for LIVpublished at 00:40 British Summer Time 18 May

    DeChambeau -8 (13), Koepka -8 (15)

A couple of big birdies for the LIV boys. Bryson DeChambeau rolls in on 13, while Brooks Koepka does likewise on 15.

Both are up to within four shots off the lead.

  10. Postpublished at 00:36 British Summer Time 18 May

    Wallace -8 (17*)

Over on the ninth, Matt Wallace pays the price for missing the fairway and finding rough off the tee. He can't muscle his ball onto the green, watching forlornly as it plunges into a greenside bunker. Work to do to scramble a par.

  11. Postpublished at 00:36 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson E, McIlroy -4, Rose -3 (16)

Rory McIlroy appears a bit fidgety as he stands over his first decent look at a birdie for some time on the 16th...

Here goes....oh it's shuffling right and the world number two looks exasperated.

  12. Postpublished at 00:35 British Summer Time 18 May

    MacIntyre -9 (15*)

Back at the sixth and Bob MacIntyre is hitting a wee bump and run. Decent touch that. His ball coming to rest four feet from the hole.

  13. Postpublished at 00:34 British Summer Time 18 May

    Schauffele -12, Aberg +1 (17)

Xander Schauffele is in the middle of the 18th fairway, four-iron in hand, looking to go green hunting. But his right hand is straight off the club and his ball spins out left, into the thickest of the thick rough. Tough third coming up.

What of Ludvig Aberg? He's only gone and fired at the pin. His ball pulls up 25 feet from the pin. It's simple from here. Putt the ball in the hole to make the weekend.

  14. Postpublished at 00:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    MacIntyre -9 (15*)

Bob MacIntyre is in a bit of trouble down the left of the sixth, his ball buried in thick rough. But the burly Scot plucks a hybrid from his bag and gives his ball a big biff. It comes out low and skips and shoots up towards the front edge of the green. A decent result.

  15. Finau respondspublished at 00:30 British Summer Time 18 May

    Finau -8, Theegala -10, Hatton -1 (13)

Immediate amends for Tony Finau for those crimes against golf on the 12th.

The American zips his wedge in to 10 feet and strokes in for a welcome birdie.

  16. Popert holds off Lawlor to win G4D Open at Woburnpublished at 00:29 British Summer Time 18 May

England's Kipp Popert underlines his status as the world's number one golfer with a disability to hold off second ranked Brendan Lawlor and win the G4D Open.

    Aberg +1 (17)

Swedish sensation Ludvig Aberg is on the par-five 18th tee. He needs an eagle to make the weekend becuase such as has been the low scoring it looks like the cut mark may be level par, or even one under.

Aberg piles his drive down the middle. Next up, find the green.

  18. Postpublished at 00:27 British Summer Time 18 May

    Johnson E, McIlroy -4, Rose -3 (15)

Great shot from Rory McIlroy on the 16th. The Northern Irishman zings his approach out of the left rough right onto the green and for a welcome change he's within 12 feet of the flag.

Dustin Johnson, who over the last few holes is resembling the 2020 version of Dustin Johnson, also finds the putting surface.

  19. Postpublished at 00:26 British Summer Time 18 May

    Wallace -7 (17*)

Another Englishman going well is Matt Wallace. He's having a splendid bogey-free round and having also carded six birdies, has bounded up the leaderboard.

He's on the ninth, his last of the day.

  20. Donald safely into weekendpublished at 00:25 British Summer Time 18 May

    Donald -3 (69)

Winning Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald is on his last hole, the ninth. He's got a birdie look to get to four under but he can't hole the 10-footer.

Three birdies in four holes from the fourth have ensured he will be around for the weekend though.
