    Chasing 279 to win, Somerset were bowled out for 158 shortly before tea.

    Five years after almost losing a leg and 30 operations later, Ian Hutchinson has won his second race at the Isle of Man TT.

    The 35-year-old from Yorkshire went close to losing his leg after a serious crash at Silverstone in 2010 and was out of action for several seasons.

    Cycling's world governing body has no concerns over the equipment used by Sir Bradley Wiggins in his successful UCI Hour Record attempt on Sunday.

    Steve Collins, a coach who helped Alex Dowsett set the record on 2 May, claimed Wiggins' bike was not commercially available and therefore against regulations.

    The UCI said in a statement: "Bradley Wiggins' bike and equipment were thoroughly assessed by UCI officials before and after the UCI Hour Record attempt and were judged to be fully compliant with UCI regulations."

    John Carver, 50, took charge of Newcastle for the final 20 games of the season following the departure of Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace, but won just three matches.

    Former England and Derby County manager Steve McClaren is the favourite to be appointed as Pardew's permanent successor when he returns from holiday later this week.

    Liverpool fans might be stuck for who to replace Steven Gerrard with at the pinnacle of their affections but the former captain believes it could be Raheem Sterling if he stays at the club.

    Sterling, 20, has rejected a new deal with the Merseysiders and has told boss Brendan Rodgers he wants to leave.

    "I think there's a position there for him to be the number one player in the team," said Gerrard, who will be plying his trade with LA Galaxy in the United States.

    "He can be adored and have that adulation from supporters that the likes of Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres have experienced."
