    Leaders Lancashire will begin the third morning on 14-0 in their second innings, a lead of 12 over Gloucestershire, who were finally dismissed for 277 on Monday thanks to 102 from Michael Klinger and 88 from former England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones.

    Surrey will resume on 217-6 in their second innings, leading Leicestershire by 288, while Northants are 397-6, a lead of 276 over Essex.

    Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has ruled out a move for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

    Van Persie, who has one year left on his contract with the Old Trafford club, was spotted in Rome this week, leading to speculation that the 31-year-old could join Lazio.

    "On Van Persie, all I can say is that I respect him as a striker but unfortunately, he is outside our parameters," Tare told Lazio Style Radio.

    "There has never been a meeting, this is gossip, not transfer news. We don't want to create illusions, this is not true."

    Aston Villa's Netherlands defender Ron Vlaar should be fit to face Latvia in a Euro 2016 qualifier in Riga on Friday despite being sidelined with a knee injury when the Dutch were beaten 4-3 by the United States last Friday.

    "I have had a complete [training] session and it went well," says Vlaar. "I feel fine.

    "We want to put a line behind the loss to the Americans and turn our focus fully to the match against Latvia, where he have to win."

    Former England all-rounder Chris Lewis was released from prison on Tuesday, saying "wrong choices" led to his jail sentence for cocaine smuggling.

    Lewis, capped 32 times at Test level, was convicted in 2009 and served less than half of a 13-year sentence.

    He said money concerns in 2008 had led to him attempting to smuggle £140,000 worth of dissolved cocaine into the UK. "I became afraid of what the future held, and at that point the thinking went awry," said the 47-year-old.

    In an interview with the Professional Cricket Association he said: "I made choices. They were the wrong choices and I say sorry for them."

    West Ham are also primed to announce their new manager within the next day or so, with the Guardian reporting, external that Slaven Bilic is confident he will be confirmed in the position, despite the Premier League club favouring Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa.

    Argentine Bielsa, the paper says, was due to hold talks with the French club on Monday over a new contract and appears likely to sign an extension, clearing the way for former Hammers defender Bilic to take charge.

    Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has avoided a conviction for knocking a cyclist off his bike.

    The 43-year-old was given a 12-month good behaviour bond, a form of probation, for hitting and injuring a cyclist with his car in Sydney.

    Magistrate Michael Price said Bosnich had good character and the offence was at the "lower end of culpability".

    Tampa Bay Lightning scored twice in the third period to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in game three of the Stanley Cup final.

    The first two encounters in the best-of-seven series were drawn and Blackhawks looked like they would seize the advantage when Brandon Saad put them 2-1 up early in the final period.

    But, that lead was wiped out almost immediately when Ondrej Palat equalized 13 seconds later. And, with a little over three minutes left, the Chicago crowd were stunned into silence again when Cedric Paquette tipped in a pass from Victor Hedman for the winner.

    The Independent suggest Ings' move could cost the Anfield club more than they first anticipated.

    The paper reports, external that the Championship side have accepted a £12m bid from Tottenham - despite the striker having no desire to move to White Hart Lane - and can, therefore, demand a higher fee from Liverpool should the case go to a tribunal.

    Liverpool have tied up a deal for Burnley striker Danny Ings but ex-Reds forward John Aldridge wants more in terms of someone who is more of a "finished article".

    Ings, 22, is out of contract at Turf Moor and will move to Anfield on 1 July, subject to a medical.

    "It's a no-brainer. He looks a threat and the lad's got great potential," Aldridge, a Liverpool title winner in 1988, told BBC Radio 5 live.

    But he added: "We need a really big marquee signing."
