    Disaster.

You know how we said Mark Wood was batting beautifully? He's just pushed one to first slip.

England are nine down and on the brink of defeat. Jimmy Anderson is trudging to the crease. 11.1 overs to go. Big ask to see it through to the end now.

Getting back to the news that Arsenal have been fined - along with agent Alan Middleton - after breaching the Football Association's football agent regulations in relation to the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton...

A statement from the FA read: "Arsenal admitted part of the breach but denied another, which was found not proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission.

"The charges against Mr Middleton, which he denied, were found proven."

The written reasons for the sanctions described the incident as a classic case of "fronting", where an unauthorised and unlicensed agent was involved.

A statement from Arsenal read: "We acted in good faith throughout in this transfer and had no reason to believe that the player's representative was not authorised to be involved in the transfer negotiations.

"The FA fully recognised that there was no intention to mislead on Arsenal's part."

Who is Britain's greatest sportsperson?published at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2015

Today we're asking you: Who is Britain's greatest ever sportsperson and why?

lojol patch: Beryl Burton, a whole host of records, longevity, and the only woman to hold a world record which bettered the men's record.

A brilliant shout this one. It's definitely worth reading more, over here, but here's a taster of Burton's crowning achievement.

On 17 September 1967, at the UK National Time Trial, a 30-year-old Burton rode 277.25 miles in 12 hours along the roads and country lanes of Yorkshire, beating the men's world record that day, overtaking all 99 men and offering men's champion Mike McNamara a Liquorice Allsort as an energy booster as she did so.

One hour to go in the cricket and Adil Rashid and Mark Wood are - at the massive risk of tempting fate - batting beautifully.

Pakistan are just starting to get frustrated and England, whisper it, are starting to feel just a smidgeon of confidence about their chances of limping to the close and scraping a draw - something which seemed hugely unlikely a couple of hours ago.

Rashid is 57 not out, Wood unbeaten on 26, with England 304-8 and only Jimmy Anderson to come in the batting stakes.

It's going to be a nail-biter. Live text commentary here.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini was pleased with a point in a dull Manchester derby at Old Trafford but stressed that he does not enjoy seeing his side play defensively.

United had the two best chances when Jesse Lingard hit the crossbar and Joe Hart saved from Chris Smalling.

Pellegrini said: "I am satisfied with a point but I don't like to play in this way. It's easy to play that way.

"If we want to defend, we can. We don't like to, we are an attacking team."

    • Won the 1921 Wimledon mixed doubles
    • Captained Manchester City and England at football
    • Completed a 147 break in snooker
