Charlton Athletic have appointed Karel Fraeye as interim head coach following Guy Luzon's sacking at the weekend.

The 37-year-old Belgian assisted Jose Riga at the end of the 2013-14 season when he helped the Addicks avoid relegation from the Championship.

Fellow Belgian Wim De Corte will assist him on a temporary basis after Luzon's backroom team also left the Valley following Saturday's 3-0 home defeat by Brentford.

Charlton are in the relegation zone in the Championship and without a league victory since 22 August.

Today we're asking you: Who is Britain's greatest ever sportsperson and why?

Andy: It's got to be Sir Steve Redgrave. Can't think of anyone else who was at the top of their sport for 20 years...

King Zorba: Has to be Denis Compton. One of England's best ever batsmen, with test average of 50, also top footballer who played for Arsenal.

Ashley James Moore: Lewis Hamilton without a shadow of a doubt. He is going to dominate F1 for years to come!

Not your average 16-year-oldpublished at 09:44

    Football

It was a heck of a weekend for 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma.

At an age when most lads are swotting for their GCSE's and playing on their Xbox, Donnarumma kept goal for AC Milan.

Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic opted to replace former Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez, 33, with Donnarumma after three matches without a win.

And it worked. Milan won  2-1 win against Sassuolo with Donnarumma becoming the youngest keeper to start a Serie A match.

Donnarumma's senior debut comes two years after he joined the 18-time Italian champions' Under-15 team. The win lifted Milan to 10th in the table.

England's leading wicket taker James Anderson has signed a new two-year deal with Lancashire

The 33-year-old seam bowler, who has taken 420 wickets for his country, is currently with England in the UAE for their Test series against Pakistan.

This summer, he helped England regain the Ashes and took 7-77 for Lancashire against Essex, his best county figures.

"I consider it an honour and a privilege every time I wear the Red Rose," said the Burnley-born bowler.

The debate will rage for a few days yet on whether Sunderland should have been awarded a penalty and Fabricio Coloccini sent off in the Wear-Tyne derby but ultimately Sunderland won because they took their chances and demonstrated a greater mental strength.

Sam Allardyce's side have scored their last 18 penalties but, more importantly, they drew on their 1-0 lead at half-time while Newcastle’s players shrunk. In the time it took them to respond, they were 2-0 down and chasing the game.

It was an emphatic scoreline but far from an emphatic display and Allardyce was mindful, as all Sunderland fans will be, that there is still a lot of work to be done if they are to escape the relegation zone.

    Change the rulespublished at 09:27

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce says the rule that sees a player sent off after conceding a penalty should be changed.

His side benefited from Robert Madley's decision to award them a spot-kick and show Fabricio Coloccini red for a push on Steven Fletcher in the3-0 win over Newcastle.

"It's the rules sadly. I think a penalty is enough," he told BBC Sport.

"It's a foul and only a penalty. Our fans wouldn't agree but as a football man I'd like to see the rule changed."

Today we're asking you: Who is Britain's greatest ever sportsperson and why?

The Inside Story: Lennox Lewis beat everyone he ever fought. Unified the belts. 3 x champion. Last great heavyweight.

Paul Skinback: The greatest ever sportsman is AP McCoy - there is simply no arguing that fact. Astonishing achievements, never to be matched.

Henry Ashman: Can't get much better than Bradley Wiggins - has won basically everything and did the equivalent of a 400m runner winning the marathon.

Harry Kane says his poor goalscoring form is behind him after netting a hat-trick in Tottenham's 5-1 victory at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Kane, 22, had previously only netted once in the Premier League this season.

"You're never going to just be on a high, you're going to have ups and downs," Kane told BBC Sport.

"It's about maintaining your focus, not getting too carried away and trying to stay patient. That's what I've been doing."

    Bad news.

England have lost another wicket in the cricket (NB: there will be no more rhyming in this story)

Ben Stokes has gone for 13, which means Stuart broad joins Adil Rashid at the crease.

It is 200-7, not long after lunch, with England needing to bat all day to save the second Test.

What's that? It looks unlikely. Yes, we think you're spot on.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was a frustrated figure after their goalless draw with Manchester City, and refused to answer questions about the performance of his captain Wayne Rooney up front.

The Dutchman felt United were the better side and should have won, despite neither side managing a shot on target until 8 minutes from the end, highlighting what he felt was a penalty when Ander Herrera went down in the box after a tangle of legs with Raheem Sterling.

Van Gaal says he told his players at half-time to shoot from outside the box more and try their luck, but when asked about Rooney's form his frustration boiled over.

"I have to talk every week about Rooney, why? I don't give any more answers about Wayne Rooney, I am sick of it," he said.

You know how sometimes you can have a really entertaining 0-0 draw?

Well that most definitely did not happen in the Manchester derby, with United and City playing out the dullest of goalless draws at Old Trafford.

City return to the top of the Premier League ahead of Arsenal on goal difference - but there was little else to celebrate in a dire game devoid of attacking quality.

What few chances there were fell to United. Substitute Jesse Lingard hit the bar late on and City keeper Joe Hart saved well from Chris Smalling.

How did Klopp react to the draw? A bit like this.

"It's only a goal, only a game of football. It's like it's the last thing in your life and we have to calm this down," said the Liverpool boss Sadio Mane's late equaliser for Southampton.

"I don't understand this pressure but the guys feel it. I hope I'm not the only person in the stadium who thought 'this is not the end of the world'. We can work on this."

Time to look at Sunday's Premier League action, starting at Liverpool where the crowd were full of excitement at Jurgen Klopp's first home league match in charge.

It wasn't perhaps what the Kop - or Klopp - had been hoping for.

Half-time sub Christian Benteke headed in against Southampton to put the new boss on course for his first win.

But Saints forward Sadio Mane made it 1-1 when he levelled late in the game.
