    The first British athlete in action on day two of the Paralympics is rower Rachel Morris, who goes in the heats of the AS single sculls at 12:50 BST.

    Morris won Paralympic hand-cycling gold in the time trial in 2008 and got a bronze in the road race four years ago in London. She switched sports two years ago.

    The 37-year-old double amputee was a silver medallist at last year's World Rowing Championships.

    Jason Smyth will be aiming to cement his place as the fastest Paralympian in the world in the T13 100m final (15:04 BST).

    The 29-year-old has a personal best in Paralympic sport of 10.46 seconds, set at London 2012 and managed 10.76secs in Thursday’s heats.

    The Liverpool fan was diagnosed with the genetic eye condition Stargardt’s Disease as an eight-year-old which has left him with less than 10% of normal vision.

    Roberto Martinez received a £10m pay-off from Everton, the Liverpool Echo, external report.

    The new Belgium boss had a clause in his Everton contract when he was sacked, which demanded that he be paid the remaining three years of his deal.

    That added up to almost £12m, but after an independent hearing in London both parties agreed on a figure between £10m and £11m.

    It’s going to be a busy day for British long jumper Stef Reid.

    Not only has the 31-year-old got her own T44 final to deal with (14:45 BST), but her husband Brent Lakatos could be in line for his first Paralympic gold medal.

    Lakatos represents Canada and goes in the T53 100m heats in the morning (14:00), hoping to make it through to Friday evening’s final.

    He won three silvers in London and is the fastest in the world this year.

    The cyclists and swimmers delivered medals for Great Britain on the opening day of action in Rio so the athletics team will be hoping to join the party on Friday.

    There are some big names in action in the evening session, including Jonnie Peacock, Sophie Hahn and Georgie Hermitage, but we have an early session to get through first and there are three Britons in finals.

    Long jumper Stef Reid missed last year’s Worlds in Doha with a back problem but will hope to improve on the silver she won four years ago in the T44 final at 14:45 BST, while Abbie Hunnisett and Gemma Prescott are in the F32 club throw which starts at 14:03.

    Mickey Bushell and Mo Jomni go in the T53 100m heats (14:00), Jordan Howe starts his T35 100m campaign (14:51), while Libby Clegg will bid to reach the T11 100m final (15:50).
