    Imogen Clark, who finished second in her semi-final to qualify for the final, said: "I'm well surprised with that - I messed up my finish as well - I was gliding for days. So, in the final you never know.

    "I'm loving it here - it's my first major championships senior or junior - I just want to swim fast and post some good times."

    Sarah Vasey just missed out on the final and said: "This isn't the championships I've wanted personally, but I'm excited to get behind Imogen tomorrow night - I think she has a 29 (second race) in her."

    Imogen Clark gets a new British record as she came second in a time of 30.04 to qualify for the final. She is beaten by Yuliya Efimova of Russia, who sets a new championship record of 29.66.

    Sarah Vasey comes fifth in her race, but is only ninth fastest overall with only eight going through.

    Nonetheless they both go through and it was a strong swim from Guy.

    Ben Proud, who has just smashed the British and European Championships record to reach the 50m freestyle final, says: "It felt good. I was very relaxed for the semi-final so to go 21.11 that's great.

    "There's a few things I want to fix, so I'll come back tomorrow with them sorted and then it's all about the medals.

    "I've got nothing to lose now - I've got the personal best - so I'll come back really relaxed, too.

    "It's a very good time - I would have been happy with 21.5 - so once I fix the glide at the end I'll be in good shape."

    I would never have said it out loud beforehand, but Adam Peaty was pretty much nailed on to win that 50m breaststroke gold.

    So instead of watching the pool or the clock, I kept my eye on Adam’s nan Mavis and his mum Caroline.

    Prior to the buzzer, they both looked a bag of nerves and even had her hands in a prayer position.
