'Getting better and better'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 8 August 2018

Women's 400m individual medley European bronze medallist Hannah Miley speaking on BBC TV: "The GB team just seems to be getting better and better. The team is gelling really well, there's real mix of experiences - a lot of new faces and some old - and everyone's coming together with the home crowd. It's fantastic to see everyone getting the rewards they deserve.

"The home crowd is amazing - you feel the noise go through you - right through your chest. Having a home crowd is an amazing advantage for us, because you don't get that opportunity very often. It's reminded me a lot of London 2012."

It has already been a busy day in the pool. Britain's Ben Proud was the joint fastest qualifier in the men's 50m freestyle with the semi-finals taking place at 17:04 BST. Proud, who won a silver in the 50m butterfly on Tuesday, swam a time of 21.68 seconds and is joined in the semi-finals by Thomas Fannon, although David Cumberlidge failed to qualify.

'Gold would have been nice'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 8 August 2018

    Diving: Mixed synchronised 3m springboard

European silver medallist Grace Reid says: "We're both very pleased with silver. Gold would have been nice, but the Germans were too strong today.

"It was amzing being here with the home crowd - you couldn't even hear the dives being announced it was that loud - which is a good thing. We really felt the benefit of the home crowd when we were on the board.

"I'm really pleased this event has gone so well - it's a nice ease in for me when I've got individual and women's synchro to go - so hopefully it'll get even better for me."

Team-mate Ross Haslam added: "To do synchro with Grace, who has a lot of experience, is really good for my diving development and my general experience.

"We're used to turning things around quickly, so it doesn't matter too much [that it's only our second event diving together]. It's more difficult with mixed because I'm a lot heavier than Grace, so I have to watch my legs. I always say, 'Grace, just do your thing, and I'll be your shadow', that way only one of us is worrying."
