Chad Henne is playing like a man who has played 78 games in the NFL and not just your average back-up. He's facing a tough third down again though here as Andy Reid takes a timeout to just have a think about this one.

Henne is also the former starting QB with the Jaguars so this one means a lot to him.

Henne tries a pass over the middle but it's deflected up into the air and could, perhaps should, have been intercepted. Then Henne shakes that off nicely by hitting Kadarius Toney to convert on third down.

Confident stuff from the back-up.

Well then Chad, no pressure, just come in for Mahomes and throw the ball out of your own end zone! Luckily he's got Travis Kelce on his side and an early gain helps as the Chiefs get a first down.

Patrick Mahomes has been sent to the locker room to get looked at, so Chad Henne looks like he'll come out and play after all - and what a spot as the Jags have punted and their special teams have come up trumps again by keeping the ball out of the end zone and downing it around the two-yard line!

Frank Clark gets his hands on Trevor Lawrence and down he goes after taking too long to find a target and trying to escape through the front door. That's bumped the Jags out of field goal range most likely.

JaMycal Hasty busts out a nice 23-yard run, and a rare touch of the ball for the former 49er. The Jags are revved up on this drive as they head towards the red zone, maybe that Mahomes injury has given them a boost.

NBC's sideline reporter says Patrick Mahomes has declared: "I'm good" and seems certain to continue. He's not sat down yet though as on a cold day the last thing you want to do with a twisted ankle is let it get cold and stiffen up...

Mahomes is really struggling here, and he can't run out of the pocket under pressure and ends up throwing the ball on the floor, leaving Harrison Butker to kick a 50-yard field goal.

Mahomes hobbles out for the second quarter, with the Chiefs not wanting to bring their star off just yet.

No player has contributed more offensive yards ever in a season than Mahomes this season – Chad Henne hasn’t completed a pass this year, that’s some drop-off.

Patrick Mahomes ends the first quarter with a completion to tight end Travis Kelce but he limps off the field as the game goes to a break.

That tackle looked nasty and the Chiefs will be worried about their star man. Not sure if it was his groin or knee but something is a-hurting.

Jacksonville Jaguars 7-7 Kansas City Chiefs

Oof, Mahomes' legs go in different directions as he is tackled by two Jags defenders while completing a throw.

That doesn't look good.

Just when you think you have Patrick Mahomes where you want him, he changes the questions.

The man would have been unstoppable in bulldog on the school playground.

He holds off massive pressure and finds Justin Watson on third down to keep the Chiefs' second drive going.

It was out of his hands so quickly because he is diagnosing what the defense is doing.

Last year's Divisional Round game at Arrowhead was arguably the best play-off game ever as the Chiefs stunned the Bills.

Well, the Jaguars are going to need some big plays tonight and they've just had one.

Jamal Agnew returns the Chiefs' kick-off 60 yards and Jacksonville are in Kansas City territory.

Six completions from eight throws for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Not a bad start for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
