Touchdown - Chiefspublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Jacksonville Jaguars 0-7 Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce, a man the size of a truck, is allowed space to reel in his fourth catch of the drive inside the Jacksonville 10-yard line.

No one was close enough to stop him but they probably wouldn't have anyway.

Extra point is good and the Chiefs lead.

Nice pressure from the Jaguars' D on first down forces Patrick Mahomes to throw the ball away.

After a five-yard run, they are all over him again on third down, yet he somehow locates Travis Kelce for a first down.

    The man is an eel.

Jerick McKinnon converts on a second-down-and-short and the Chiefs are in the redzone already, on the Jags' 19-yard line.

Watching Patrick Mahomes is a thing of beauty.

A little shovel pass on first down to running back Isiah Pacheco on first down, a gunslinger side-arm pass on second down.

Then avoiding pressure to find his comfort blanket tight end Travis Kelce on third down.

Patrick Mahomes, this man was born to throw objects with precision and detail.

It didn't matter what it was when he was a baby in the crib - he reached down and threw it and it was accurate.

That is who he is. The way he dices and slices up defenses, no matter what they try to do, he can distribute the ball anywhere on the field.

  6. Three and out for Jagspublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Jacksonville Jaguars 0-0 Kansas City Chiefs

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be hoping for a better first half than last week when he threw four interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But he nearly throws a pick on the Jags' first drive! The Chiefs defender cannot haul it in but it's three and out for the underdog visitors.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Kansas City Chiefs (21:30 GMT)

The Jaguars started the season 2-6 before their form improved to clinch a play-off spot, culminating in last week's incredible 27-point comeback against the Chargers.

They go into tonight as the biggest underdogs this weekend - the Chiefs are 1-5 favourites with the bookies - but wide receiver Zay Jones says their place in the final eight is merited.

"We earned the position we're in; we're here now," said Jones, who caught five touchdowns in the regular season and one last week.

"There are four teams remaining [in the AFC playoffs], and we're here now."

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, known as "Big Red" in Kansas City, has been to nine Conference Championships, leading the Eagles to five in the NFC and the Chiefs to the last four AFC title games.

He can join Bill Belichick (13) and Tom Landry (10) as the only head coaches to appear in 10 Championship Games - while a win would be his 20th in the play-offs and would tie with Landry, but still trail the mighty Belichick who has 31!

Patrick Mahomes is a superstar in this league and he's saved some of his best work for the play-offs - throwing for at least 275 passing yards and three touchdowns in all three post-season games last year.

With three TD passes tonight, Mahomes will join Matt Ryan as the only players in NFL history with at least three TD passes in four straight play-off games.

Mahomes has at least three TD passes in seven of his 11 career play-off games, the fourth-most in NFL post-season history.

  15. 'They're a fast, physical team'published at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Kansas City Chiefs (21:30 GMT)

Mahomes is the the MVP front-runner this season and this is the fourth time in five seasons as a starter that he enters into the play-offs after earning extra rest during the wildcard round.

The 27-year-old threw four of his 41 TD passes this season in the win over Jacksonville and, even though his team are favourites, he knows the Jags are a dangerous prospect.

"You build up for this all season long," Mahomes said. "They're a fast, physical team. They're a talented team, we knew that the first time. We know how much of a challenge it's going to be for us."

Not many people are giving Jacksonville a chance tonight, but then nobody gave them a prayer when they were 27-0 down against the Chargers last week.

OK, so the Chiefs are a step up, but the Jags came back from 20-0 down at Arrowhead in the regular season to lose just 27-17, and they're a much better side now.

And anything can happen in the play-offs...

  17. First and last pick both shinepublished at 21:15 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2023

A first and last pick in the NFL Draft both starred last week, as Mr Irrelevant Brock Purdy continued his incredible rise to fame for the San Francisco 49ers.

Meanwhile, Trevor Lawrence was awful in the first half and spectacular in the second as the Jags produced the biggest play-off comeback ever against the Chargers
