Oscar Piastri leads by nine points but will the pendulum shift when we come back at the end of the month?

Thanks for joining us, folks. We'll be back again from 29-31 August for the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

  3. 'A lot going on in the background' - Hamiltonpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 3 August

George Russell joked in the cooldownroom that Oscar Piastri should've T-boned Lando Norris when the two were fighting for the lead at the end ofthe race. "That would have been great," he added.

Lewis Hamilton is next up to the microphone in the media pen. His mood is much the same as yesterday as he tells Sky Sports he doesn't remember the incident at Turn Four, when Max Verstappen tried a move on the inside, which the Dutchman is still under investigation for.

Responding to his comments after qualifying on Saturday, he can barely get his words out, just saying, "when you have a feeling, you have a feeling", before adding: "There's a lot going on in the background that isn't great.

Asked if he still loves racing, he says he does.

  4. 'We lost a podium so I'm very disappointed' - Leclercpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 3 August

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc started in pole but finished down in P4. He told Sky Sports: "I spoke too quickly because being out the car I had a bit more details about what went on, I thought it was about something else that we had discussed, but unfortunately it was on the chassis.

"There was an issue on that side and we will look into it for it not to happen again. It doesn't really make me feel any better because when you're fighting for a win and then you have those kind of issues, it never happens but today we've had this problem.

"We need to look into it to make sure it never ever happens again because the car was just undriveable.

"It was around lap 40 because as soon as I started to struggle and complain, it was basically where we started to have the issue and it then got worse and worse.

"It's very frustrating to have everything under control to know that the pace is in the car to win and then you end up being nowhere. We lost a podium so I'm very disappointed."

Lando Norris has delivered McLaren their 200th victory in Formula 1. It's also the Briton's ninth career win with the team. And it's a big one, as now he knows there's only nine points to make up when we return at the end of August for the final part of the season.

Charles Leclerc is speaking to Sky Sports now, looking very downcast and mentioning there was an issue with the chassis after lap 40.

  8. 'I’m so happy to be back on the podium' - Russellpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 3 August

George Russell finished in third in the Mercedes, he said: "I’m really happy with the race today, yesterday qualifying was a bit of surprise and this whole weekend has been a surprise for everyone, but I’m so happy to be back on the podium. It was a bit dicey with Charles [Leclerc] at some points."

On the battle with Charles Leclerc: "It’s one of those when you sort of commit to a bit of a divebomb, if a driver in front moves, you’re already right on the limit of grip and there’s not much room for manoeuvre.

"I think we made contact on the second time but I’m just glad to get through and a nice way to go into the break."

On the car: "I mean it’s definitely better than the races we’ve had so far, so really pleased with that."

  9. 'I pushed as hard as I could' - Piastripublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 3 August

    Oscar PiastriImage source, Getty Images

McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who finished second: "I pushed as hard as I could. I saw Lando going for a one [stop] so I knew I was going to have to overtake on track, which is easier said then done around here.

"Tried a few things; it was a gamble either way and unfortunately, we were just on the other side of it. Team did a great job, the car really came alive in the second half of the race - and the car has been great all weekend. Looking forward to taking some time off.

On being told about Lando Norris' one-stop: "At that point I didn't have much to lose, so it wasn't a huge surprise. I don't know whether trying to undercut Leclerc was the right call in the end."

On battling Norris at the end: "I think I needed to be a couple of tenths closer, and it was going to take a mistake from Lando to acheive that. You never want to try and save it for the next lap and it never comes, so thought I would at least try, but not quite."

  10. 'I just about held on, so I look forward to many more of these' - Norrispublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 3 August

Lando Norris at the Hungarian Grand PrixImage source, Getty Images

McLaren’s Lando Norris wins the Hungarian Grand Prix, he said: "I’m dead, it was tough, we weren’t really planning on a one-stop at the beginning but after the first lap it was kind of our only option to get back into things.

"It was tough in the final stint with Oscar catching I was pushing flat out you know so my voice has gone a little bit. It feels good and rewarding a little more because of that but a good result today."

On going onto a hard tyre: "I didn’t think it would probably get us to win, I thought it would get us into second, I know our pace was good even in the first stint behind George [Russell] I couldn’t get past but the pace was strong.

"I knew if I had some clean air and I could push, I could maybe make things work and that’s what we did. It’s always a bit of a gamble these kind of things but it also requires no mistakes, good laps, good strategy, all these things and that’s what we had today so I’m very happy.

On the world championship: "We’re so tightly fought it’s hard to say that momentum is on anyone’s side, but we’re fighting hard both of us and it’s fun, it’s tough but fun racing with Oscar [Piastri].

"It’s great for us as a team and another one-two and our 200th win in Formula 1. Credit to Oscar, he put up a good charge and I just about held on, so I look forward to many more of these."

Podium timepublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 3 August

Cooldown room chats have been done and Lando Norris has signed the big bottle of champagne. "Don't break the trophy!" he's written on it as a reminder of when he smashed that beautiful porcelain silverware a few years ago.

He moves all the trophies to one side and does his trademark bottle bang celebration.

What a day for Lando Norris. He tumbled a few places at the start of the race but a bold strategy call has handed him his fifth win of the season, cutting the deficit to Oscar Piastri in the drivers' championship to nine points.

Charles Leclerc was penalised for the incident with George Russell and ends his miserable day in the cockpit in fourth spot, Fernando Alonso finshes fifth - a great result given the troubles with his back - and Gabriel Bortoleto takes a career-best sixth place for Sauber.
