The run down to Turn One has the crowds on their feet. Oscar Piastri peeps up on Lando Norris at the first corner but doesn't make a move just yet. Corner after corner the cars stick together but it's Norris who stays ahead.
The slow cars have been cleared by the McLarens, so it's clear track for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri now. The Briton is 0.722 seconds ahead of the Australian, with 16 points separating them in the drivers' championship.
Isack Hadjar takes his warning and lets the McLarens pass without interfering. Oscar Piastri is now only six tenths off Lando Norris, so we should see the two battle pretty soon.

I don't think the rain is going to hit the circuit, but actually the sun is starting to shine again and it's getting brighter down here. There might be a spot of rain but I don't think it's going to stick.
Lewis Hamilton is given a blue flag as the McLarens make their way through, just as Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc is noted for that fight with George Russell.
Lando Norris is leading but Oscar Piastri is creeping up behind, while Isack Hadjar is also welcomed into the blue flag club.

That was a late defence from Charles Leclerc, really on the limit of what is allowed in the rule book, but George Russell held his own and got his elbows out and got the move done.

The radio message is angry from George Russell after that first scrap with Charles Leclerc, as he thinks the Ferrari man moved under braking.
Russell goes for take two and the pair almost touch - the Mercedes man is back on the radio to say Leclerc should be penalised - but he's taken the final podium spot to the dismay of polesitter Leclerc.
George Russell is trying to attack Charles Leclerc and as he spies his chance to pass heading into Turn One, the Ferrari man closes the door firmly. Leclerc stays in third, Russell has to stick with fourth for another lap.

This is getting very tense, there are battles for the podium everywhere you look between the Ferrari and the Mercedes and the two McLarens slugging it out.
As the laps tick down, it looks like we're going to see a championship fight between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The Briton is 2.5 seconds ahead of the Australian. Chose your fighter.
The Williams of Alex Albon moves out of the way sharpish to let Charles Leclerc get chased by the Mercedes of George Russell free of bother. The Ferrari is still ahead of Russell, but Leclerc is definitely feeling the heat of the Silver Arrow.
The time gap continues to come down between the top two but Oscar Piastri in second isn't catching leader Lando Norris quite as quickly as he probably would've hoped.
Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda are under investigation for an incident at Turn One, the Sauber of Hulkenberg running wide as the two jostled for position.
Charles Leclerc is dropping further off the pace of the McLarens now.
Andrew Benson BBC F1 correspondent at the Hungaroring
The title fight has been calm so far this year [apart from Canada] but what we're hearing today is the intensity of the desire from both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Oscar Piastri is closing in on team-mate and title rival Lando Norris. His cut the gap to 4.8 seconds now, the Australian on fresher hard rubber compared to the Briton, who is making the one stop work on his hard compound.
George Russell is the quickest man on track at the moment in fourth, so could Charles Leclerc lose out on a podium place completely? McLaren think there could be some rain in the air...
Sam Bird Formula E driver on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra
Something is clearly not working very well on Charles Leclerc's car. It worked well when he was in clean air but in dirty air, as we saw with the McLaren, it's not working well for the Ferrari driver.
Leclerc says car 'undriveable'published at 15:17 British Summer Time

From grabbing pole on Saturday, albeit a surprise one, to his race unraveling on Sunday. Charles Leclerc is venting his frustrations on the team radio. He says the team should've listened to him and then they wouldn't have had these issues. But we don't know what the issues are, so we'll have to see what he says after the race. For now, the car is "undriveable".
