  1. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 293-3

Jordan Cox has finally moved into double figures, taking three off this latest Matthew Potts over to reach 12 - a somewhat sluggish pace by his standards as he's been out there for around 50 minutes.

As mentioned earlier, the weather forecast for the north-east tomorrow isn't all that promising, so you feel Essex might need to force the pace at some stage.

  2. rain stops play

Rain at the Ovalpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 31-2

The outlook isn't great in south London, where the deteriorating light is now accompanied by rain and the covers are on.

Very much Surrey's day if this is where the contest stands at stumps, with both Hampshire openers gone already and the deficit at 177.

  3. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 288-3

It must be said that Durham haven't enjoyed the rub of the green today.

Another example of that in the last over by Matthew Potts, when the ball flew off an inside edge from Jordan Cox yet somehow evaded all three stumps.

Essex are very nicely placed going into the last 12 overs of day two.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Wayne Madsenpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 27 April

    Yorkshire 450-5 dec v Derbyshire 132-3

Another half-century for Derbyshire's batters as Wayne Madsen follows Brooke Guest to 50.

There were five fours and one six in his 109-ball 50.

Their partnership of 110 has really helped dig Derbyshire out of a hole.

  5. Postpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 286-3

Essex are closing in on a second batting bonus point and, with 25 overs left until the cut-off, they'll be confident of adding a third as well in due course.

They might have lost a fourth wicket just now, with Ben Raine finding an edge from Jordan Cox, but Colin Ackermann, diving at slip, was unable to cling onto the sharp chance.

Cox has seven to his name, with Nick Browne on 78.

  6. No resumption yet at Chester Roadpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 27 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 107-1 (34 overs)

No resumption yet after tea in Kidderminster.

They're now being kept off by bad light.

Still 27 overs to be bowled in the evening session. But it's a fair bet they won't get many of them in.

The day's cut-off time set by umpires Richard Illingworth and Mike Burns is 18:45 BST.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Brooke Guestpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 27 April

    Yorkshire 450-5 dec v Derbyshire 126-3

An important innings for his team. Well batted Brooke Guest.

He reaches 50 off 82 balls and his partnership with Wayne Madsen is worth 104 runs.

    Derbyshire needed that.

  8. Bad light stops play at the Ovalpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 31-2

Hampshire won't be too sorry about the umpires' decision that the light is now too gloomy for play to continue.

That murky outlook pretty much sums up the visitors' day so far - and Surrey will certainly be the keener side to get back on the field tonight. There are 20 overs still scheduled.

  9. 'Somebody needs to stand up for Hampshire'published at 17:14 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 31-2

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Somebody needs to stand up here for Hampshire to stop it being a completely disastrous day.

A couple of people need to show some fight, otherwise it's going to be a pretty sorry match.

  10. Durham take new ballpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 274-3

Having taken just one wicket since lunch, it's little surprise that Durham are eager to size the opportunity of a new ball.

It's Ben Raine who gets first use of it, but he's immediately driven for a straight boundary by Jordan Cox - who had looked fairly subdued until then, with just a single run from 19 deliveries.

Nick Browne has 74 at the other end and Essex are now just 84 behind their hosts.

  11. Better news at Edgbaston: 5.30 restart?published at 17:10 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 71-3

The weather has improved in Birmingham and there is now better news at Edgbaston

    A likely 5:30 restart!

  12. Postpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 28-2

Lovely stroke by Nick Gubbins, who seizes on a Kemar Roach outswinger and creams it through the off side for four.

James Vince tries something similar in the next over, against Dan Worrall, and fails to make contact as the ball swings past him and thuds into the wicketkeeper's gloves.

In theory, there are 23 overs remaining tonight, although the gloomy overheads might make that unlikely.

  13. 'Surrey turning the screw'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 28-2

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Surrey are looking to turn the screw here.

They are looking to dig out two or three more perhaps tonight and then hopefully finish the job off tomorrow.

If not then maybe by lunchtime on Monday.

The clouds are closing in here at The Oval and are the clouds closing in on Hampshire?

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 27 April

Derbyshire have made it to 107-3 against Yorkshire largely thanks to the partnership of Wayne Madsen and Brooke Guest who have added more than 80 together.

The visitors have recovered from 15-2 and 32-3 but still have a lot of work to do.

Gloucestershire are 246-6, giving them a lead of 44 over Middlesex.

Leicestershire and Northants have still not returned as the gloomy conditions persist.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Khushi c Clark b Parkinson 107published at 16:54 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 260-3

Finally, Durham have found a way through this Essex third-wicket pair.

Feroze Khushi goes to drive Callum Parkinson, doesn't get hold of it properly and Graham Clark takes a fine catch to remove the centurion.

Jordan Cox has been waiting since before lunch to make his entrance - now he's out there alongside Nick Browne.

  16. Tea at Chester Roadpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 27 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 107-1

It is now teatime in Kidderminster.

The local speciailty there, we are informed, used to be Ged Scott's Gran's Treacle Tart.

Not sure they have anything quite so grandiose these days.

Afetr a lost rain-hit first session, and a truncated afternoon, the Pears trail Somerset by 202 runs going into the evening session, with Jake Libby on 56 and Gareth Roderick on exactly half that, on 28.

Still 27 overs due to be bowled today.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Middleton c Pope b Roach 10published at 16:47 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 21-2

    One brings two!

Now Kemar Roach picks up his first wicket of the innings as Fletcha Middleton edges to second slip, where Ollie Pope pouches it safely.

Both Hampshire openers are back in the hutch and to say the visitors are up against it is a huge understatement.

  18. 'Somerset haven't bowled well'published at 16:46 British Summer Time 27 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 107-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's not been a good session this for Somerset.

They would have been expecting to take two or three wickets I should think.

They haven't bowled particularly well and, as expected, the pitch has rather flattened out.

Not much has been going their way in this afternoon session.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Orr lbw b Worrall 6published at 16:44 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 21-1

Dan Worrall makes the breakthrough for Surrey!

Ali Orr is almost doubled up by one that kept low and rapped him on the pads and the umpire's finger goes up.

That brings Nick Gubbins to the crease with Hampshire still trailing by 187.

  20. Half-century for Nick Brownepublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 242-2

Heart in mouth moment for Nick Browne!

The Essex left-hander, on 49, drives outside off stump at Colin Ackermann and gets a thick edge which eludes the hands of the slip fielder.

Browne looks back anxiously as he sets off, but the ball runs away for a four in any case and he's posted his first half-century of the season.

Durham can't afford to let those chances go begging...
