  2. 50 partnership for Khushi and Brownepublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 146-2

It's been steady rather than spectacular, but Feroze Khushi and Nick Browne have built a solid partnership since they joined forces just before lunch.

Khushi is 38 not out, with Browne on 23 and Essex have reduced the deficit to 213.

  3. Century for Rory Burnspublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 262-7 v Hampshire 151

    And he's finally there!

A warm round of applause from the Surrey faithful as Rory Burns turns James Fuller for a leg-side single to reach the 25th first-class hundred of his career.

The left-hander gets there from 236 balls - the first time he's reached three figures in his last 43 innings.

Leicestershire chairman John Thorpe presents Sir Andy Roberts with his framed Club Cap with Sir Vivian RichardsImage source, Rex Features

We saw West Indies great Sir Andy Roberts join the BBC Leicester commentary team for a chat earlier.

During the lunch break he was presented with a framed Leicestershire club cap by club chairman John Thorpe.

And who's that with them... none other than Sir Viv Richards!

Stars everywhere you look in Leicester today.

  5. 'Hampshire making Burns work for 100'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 260-7 v Hampshire 151

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Radio London

Hampshire are really making Rory Burns work for this 100, but it's not like he's not prepared to.

His game is based around working extremely hard.

  6. 'Gloomy but we're still playing'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 27 April

    Glos 145-4 v Middlesex 203

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

It's still fairly gloomy overhead but thankfully we're still playing.

It looks as though the umpires are going to have a chat about the ball.

  7. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 257-7 v Hampshire 151

    Rory BurnsImage source, Rex Features

You'd think Rory Burns was experienced enough to negotiate the 'nervous 90s' with ease, but it's been a while since he registered three figures.

Burns has been creeping his way towards the landmark since lunch and is 98 not out, but there's been plenty of playing and missing too as Hampshire's seamers keep toiling away with little reward.

  8. 50 runs

50 for Miles Hammondpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 27 April

    Glos 132-4 v Middlesex 203

Gloucestershire's Miles Hammond passes a half-century in style with consecutive fours off Tom Helm.

His side lost James Bracey soon after lunch when he edged Helm to third slip for 16 with Graeme van Buuren coming to the crease to join Hammond.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 14:25 British Summer Time 27 April

Yorkshire waited to get that fifth batting point in the bag and have declared on 450-5 with Harry Brook ending the innings unbeaten on 126.

That came after Joe Root had earlier hit 119 before being bowled by Zak Chappell.

Luis Reece and Harry Came are already out in the middle to begin Derbyshire's response.

Leicestershire v Northamptonshire is back under way following a short rain delay.

  10. First batting point for Surreypublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 253-7 v Hampshire 151

Jordan Clark is threatening to turn Surrey's handy lead into a decisive one.

Clark, who has 28 from 29 balls, has hit a string of boundaries since his arrival in the middle, steering Mohammad Abbas across the rope twice at third man in his latest over.

He was also dropped in the previous Abbas over, with Tom Prest shelling a low chance at first slip.

  11. Postpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 114-2

Durham have decided it's time for a bit of spin, so Callum Parkinson is handed the ball and asked to show what he can do.

Feroze Khushi strikes the left-armer to the boundary and he and Nick Browne are looking fairly untroubled so far in this post-lunch session as Essex continue to whittle away at the Durham total of 358.

  12. 'Clark is looking to score'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 238-7 v Hampshire 151

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Radio London

What we've seen from Jordan Clark in this very short innings is that he's looking to be positive.

The belief is of what we've seen so far is that he is not going to be as patient as Rory Burns. He is looking to score.

  13. Start scheduled at Kidderminster for 2:40published at 14:09 British Summer Time 27 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 14-0

The covers remain on for now at Chester Road

It has stopped raining again in Kidderminster.

And, if there is no further rain, they are now looking at a potential 2:40 start.

But umpires Richard Illingworth and Mike Burns will surely take another look before then.

It's a first game for Illy - now one of the world's top umpires - back officiating in a game involving his old team for the first time since last June. and on a ground where he took 29 wickets in 10 matches as a player.

  14. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 235-7 v Hampshire 151

It's been an eventful start to Jordan Clark's innings - he pumped Kyle Abbott for successive fours, then took a single to bring him on strike against Mohammad Abbas.

Immediately Abbas digs one in that keeps lower than expected and catches Clark a painful blow 'amidships', so to speak.

After retreating towards square leg to recover, Clark is able to resume and he takes his revenge by hitting another boundary with a powerful off drive. Incredibly, it's the first boundary Abbas has conceded in 25 overs.

  15. rain stops play

Division Two updatepublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 27 April

    Leicestershire 17-1 v Northamptonshire 453-7 dec

The skies aren't looking great in Leicester either where we also have a rain delay.

We're at least under way in the other Division Two games as Harry Brook aims to move Yorkshire towards 450 against Derbyshire - he's 124 not out.

Gloucestershire are 113-3 - trailing Middlesex by 90 runs - as Miles Hammond approaches a half-century.

  16. 'Weather might effectively take a day out of this'published at 13:55 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 99-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The Met Office is saying that there is a 60 per cent chance of rain in Chester-le-Street about 7pm.

By the time it gets to 9pm it is 90 per cent and that remains the situation all the way through and drops to 80 per cent at 5am.

So there is maybe little to no action tomorrow, unfortunately, unless it changes dramatically overnight.

Weather might effectively take a day out of this and reduce it to a three-day match.

  17. rain stops play

    Chester Road in the rain

It's not a great day in the Midlands.

And, not surprisingly, just 16 miles away from Edgbaston at Chester Road, Kidderminster, they're not playing there either.

"Raining heavier now", reports BBC Hereford & Worcester's Chris Williams.

It's pretty cold too. Buit one notoriously hardy local pressman has come well prepared for the exposed elements of the Chester Road Tent, with a fan heater on his desk and a hot water bottle on his lap. What a pro!

  18. rain stops play

Restart delayed at Edgbastonpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 27 April

    Nottinghamshire 400, Warwickshire 21-1

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

No immediate resumption after lunch in Birmingham.

I thought there was a spot or two of rain in the air.

It's hugely frustrating that we have yet another interruption with Warwickshire 21-1 replying to Nottinghamshire's 400.

    It's dark, it's miserable, it's drizzly.

It's not nice to be watching cricket and it's certainly not nice to be playing cricket.

And, unfortunately, I think the forecast for the rest of the day and indeed for tomorrow looks something similar to what we are experiencing now

  19. wicket

WICKET: Steel c Brown b Abbott 19published at 13:45 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 218-7 v Hampshire 151

Hampshire take the second new ball after lunch - and Kyle Abbott makes the most of it!

The first delivery of Abbott's over is cracked ruthlessly to the cover boundary by Cameron Steel, but he goes to drive the next as well and edges it behind.

Jordan Clark comes out to join Rory Burns, who has 89.

  20. Cricketing royalty joins BBC commentary teampublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 27 April

    Leicestershire 17-1 v Northamptonshire 453-7 dec

Richard Rae and Sir Andy RobertsImage source, BBC Sport

The morning session at Grace Road saw genuine cricketing royalty join BBC Radio Leicester’s Richard Rae in the commentary box - the great Sir Andy Roberts himself.

The 73-year-old former West Indies bowler took more than 200 wickets in fewer than 50 Tests across the 1970s and early 80s.

He also represented Leicestershire and Hampshire in the County Championship.
