  1. 'Durham need to make something happen'published at 15:42 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358, Essex 201-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham need to make something happen to try and get this game advancing.

The weather forecast for tomorrow looks awful.

  2. 'Good, honest hard graft'published at 15:40 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 202-2

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

A 100 partnership between Feroze Khushi and Nick Browne for Essex.

They have not exactly raced away but have kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely, rotating the strike and putting away the bad balls. It has been good, honest hard graft.

It is an important innings for Browne who has been out of the side at the start of the season having previously been a fixture at the top of the order. He has not given a semblance of a chance and looks the usual reliable Nick Browne.

This is really hard work for Durham; the ball and pitch are offering no assistance and all looks a little flat in the field.

  3. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 44-3

Nice duel developing in Birmingham as two former Worcestershire team-mates - Dillon Pennington and Ed Barnard - face each other.

Barnard left New Road for Edgbnaston at the end of 2022, while Pennington was one of three Pears who headed for Trent Bridge back in the autumn.

Advantage Barnard so far, with two early boundaries.

  4. 100 partnership for Khushi and Brownepublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 194-2

Feroze Khushi is blossoming here and he and Nick Browne have now added exactly 100 for the third wicket as Essex dominate with the bat in this afternoon session.

Durham have rotated their bowlers to no effect, with Khushi on 66 and Browne 42 and the visitors trail by 164.

  5. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 333-9 v Hampshire 151

We have a slightly bizarre passage of play right now, with Hampshire's fielders retreating en masse to the boundary and inviting Jordan Clark to take singles.

Clark is largely resisting the temptation as he tries both to protect last man Dan Worrall and nudge the Surrey total up to the 350 mark that would earn them a third batting bonus point.

But Clark is finding gaps often enough to pick up runs - and he'll have one eye on a hundred as well, having advanced swiftly to 85.

  6. Bad light stops playpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 27 April

    Leicestershire 97-2 v Northamptonshire 453-7 dec

We've had a rain delay and now it's bad light stopping play in Leicester.

Louis Kimber is on 47 and Louis Hill 18 as the Foxes chase Northants' large total.

Let's hope they're not off the grass for long.

  7. 'One of the finest of Burns' career'published at 15:24 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 318-9 v Hampshire 151

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

What a 100 from Rory Burns, one the finest of his career.

He underpinned the Surrey total and it was a real masterclass in batting on a difficult wicket.

He had to work for it against a really good attack on a wicket that has been bowler friendly at times.

    Well batted Rory Burns.

  8. Division Two latestpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 27 April

Things aren’t getting any better for Derbyshire against Yorkshire.

They are three down with only 29 on the board in response to Yorkshire’s 450, with Luis Reece the latest man out.

Leicestershire are approaching the 100-run mark against Northants but the Foxes still trail by 358.

  9. 'Terrific catch from Joe Clarke'published at 15:22 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 29-3

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

That was a terrific catch from Joe Clarke to get rid of Rob Yates. He had to go a long way to cling on.

He's not had a great game, after his first-innings failure, but that will do his confidence a world of good.

This is a ground that, traditionally and historically, Notts have not done well at - but they're bang on top right now.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Atkinson b Abbott 0published at 15:18 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 317-9 v Hampshire 151

    Two wickets in three balls!

Kyle Abbott has his fourth of the innings, bringing one back to take out Gus Atkinson's middle stump.

The Hampshire bowler will surely fancy his chances of a five-for...

  11. 50 runs

50 for Graeme van Buurenpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 27 April

    Glos 195-4 v Middlesex 203

A quickfire 50 for Gloucestershire's Graeme van Buuren off 56 balls brings Gloucestershire within eight runs of Middlesex's first innings score of 203.

He's catching up batting partner Miles Hammond (64) who has been at the crease a good while longer.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Burns c Wheal b Dawson 113published at 15:15 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 316-8 v Hampshire 151

At last, Hampshire have seen the back of Rory Burns as he breaks the shackles and attempts to reverse sweep Liam Dawson.

Burns top-edges and the ball sails into the hands of Brad Wheal at deep backward point, but the Surrey skipper departs with his side now 165 runs to the good.

A big part of that was the stand of 98 with Jordan Clark, who is still there on 73.

  13. wicket

WICKET: Yates c Clarke b Paterson 16published at 15:15 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 26-3

    And another Bear gone!

Joe Clarke hangs on to a tough chance in the slips off Dane Paterson and Rob Yates is the latest to depart.

Dan Mousley comes in to join Ed Barnard, also on nought!

"Not easy in these condtions in this light," says BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle.

  14. Khushi reaches 50 after enduring tough morningpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 172-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

He was dropped by the keeper on one and then got a nasty blow to the back a few moments later. But Feroze Khushi has managed to shake off the travails of the morning session to reach 50 for the second time in two games.

Khushi has also added 80 runs with Nick Browne as Essex continue to chip away at Durham's lead, with the deficit recently falling below 200.

Durham need to come up with something here because they have only managed to take two wickets so far today and none since lunch.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Rhodes lbw b Pennington 9published at 15:11 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 26-2

A second wicket for Notts. A second wicket for Dillon Pennington.

    Will Rhodes gone this time.

New man in is Ed Barnard.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Finch lbw b Ball 17published at 15:09 British Summer Time 27 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 23-1 (9.4 overs)

Somerset break through in Kidderminster as Jake Ball traps nightwatchman Adam Finch.

Jake Libby is joined by Gareth Roderick.

It might have been worse too, but Ball had Libby dropped at third slip.

  17. Half-century for Feroze Khushipublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 27 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 167-2

Feroze Khushi (Essex)Image source, Rex Features

Feroze Khushi reaches his half-century in style, driving Callum Parkinson over the top and the ball races away to the fence at long off.

Khushi's 50 comes up from 102 balls and it's his second in successive matches, having scored 53 against Lancashire last time out.

Essex are continuing to build here and now trail Durham by less then 200, with eight wickets standing.

  18. Back under way in Birmingham toopublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 27 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 25-1

After a delayed resumption following lunch, they are now playing at Edgbaston.

Not easy conditions for the Bears.

  19. Half-century for Jordan Clarkpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 27 April

    Surrey 292-7 v Hampshire 151

Jordan Clark (Surrey)Image source, Getty Images

It's been a belligerent knock from Jordan Clark, who brings up his run a ball 50 with a cover drive off Liam Dawson for three.

Clark has belted nine boundaries so far, but those have all been off the seamers - in fact, Dawson's delivery was the first instance of spin bowling we've seen in the match.

Surrey are on the charge now.

  20. Division Two updatepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 27 April

Yorkshire have made two early breakthroughs to ensure Derbyshire have endured a horror start with the bat.

Matthew Fisher took two wickets in three balls in the sixth over to dismiss Harry Came and skipper David Lloyd to leave the visitors wobbling on 15-2.

Leicestershire lost Rishi Patel for 29 soon after play restarted after the post-lunch rain delay. They are on 67-2 in response to Northants’ 453-7 declared.

A six and five fours have helped Gloucestershire’s Graeme van Buuren score quickly since joining the action. He has 38 from 42 balls, alongside Miles Hammond (60*).

Glos only trail Middlesex by 33 now.
