    Bristol City 0-0 Middlesbrough

Bristol City are doing well to get into box but they aren't yet getting it right when they are inside.

Robins forward Scott Twine unleashes after cutting across in the penalty area but finds his strike blocked.

Jason Knight picks up the loose ball but bashes it wide.

As Scott Parker consults a laptop in the stands, Wednesday win a corner following Stuart Armstrong's run inside the box on the left.

It's been a positive start for Danny Rohl's side, who are yet to score against opponents in the top five this season. They concede a free-kick as the delivery goes in, though.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Bristol City 0-0 Middlesbrough

Another close call from Bristol City!

Anis Mehmeti gets into a good position in the box and attempts to cut a low shot into the bottom corner but it rolls just wide.

Middlesbrough have created a couple of half-chances but both their shots have been comfortably collected by Robins keeper Max O'Leary.

As that left his boot it was heading for the top corner.

You'd have had good odds on him breaking Burnley's clean sheet duck.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Burnley 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Almost an end to Burnley's astonishing run of clean sheets!

Wednesday go close as the ball falls for Michael Ihiekwe from a corner, and he clips the outside of a post with an improvised first-time volley, hit with his right foot from near the penalty spot.

    Promising for the away side.

  6. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Burnley 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Suspended Burnley manager Scott Parker is watching up in the stands tonight.

His side kept possession for the first 90 seconds or so, but they've just conceded a needless corner after Lucas Pires volleyed a clearance behind.

The rain came down as the anticipation rose during the warm-ups at Turf Moor. Now the action begins.

Whether you're a Claret or an Owl, there are positive omens: Burnley are unbeaten across the last seven league editions of this fixture, while Wednesday have lost only one of the last nine such games in which they've been the visitors.

  8. CLOSE!published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

    Bristol City 0-0 Middlesbrough

Bristol City have the first shot at goal and it's not half bad.

Defender Zak Vyner wins the Robins a free-kick just outside the box and Scott Twine steps up.

He tries to rifle it in but it goes just over the bar and Middlesbrough escape early punishment.

  9. Burnley three games from a recordpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

In the entire history of the Football League, only one side has had a longer run of clean sheets in the top four tiers than this sequence of 11 for Burnley.

Today is the 16th anniversary of Manchester United's stretch of 14 in a row coming to an end. But Burnley and the Red Devils would have enjoyed the result that day regardless: Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo scored in a 2-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers.

  10. Home fans not welcoming Conwaypublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

It's safe to say that former Bristol City striker Tommy Conway isn't getting the warmest reception on his return to Ashton Gate.

He stepped up to the centre circle to take kick-off for Middlesbrough to a fair few boos ringing around the stadium.

Conway was a real Bristol City success story having been at the club since he was seven, but he turned down a new contract last summer and made the move to the north east.

He is still on good terms with plenty of the players according to Nahki Wells in an interview earlier this week, but the home fans are not quite as welcoming.

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

Things at Turf Moor get under way in 15 minutes time but they've just kicked off at Ashton Gate.

On-loan Sporting attacker Marcus Edwards earns his first start for Burnley following three substitute appearances, while left-back Lucas Pires also comes in as Lyle Foster and Chelsea loanee Bashir Humphreys - who is not in the squad - make way.

Josh Brownhill remains a substitute following his return from a five-game injury absence in all competitions with an appearance from the bench at Preston last Saturday.

Luca Koleosho’s return after a five-game absence is delayed by a knock the forward picked up in training, and centre-back Jordan Beyer, midfielder Aaron Ramsey and attacker Mike Tresor all remain out.

Having been borrowed from Millwall, midfielder Zian Flemming opened his account at Turf Moor in the 2-0 win over Hull City on February 12.

Josh Windass and Michael Smith freshen up a Sheffield Wednesday strikeforce facing arguably the toughest attacking task in the EFL, replacing Svante Ingelsson and Ike Ugbo.

Barry Bannan starts again after returning from injury at home to Coventry City last Saturday, with manager Danny Rohl happy that the captain did not suffer any “reaction” during the week.

New left-back Ryo Hatsuse features in the squad for the first time, having last played in the AFC Champions League in December for Japanese club Vissel Kobe.

Dominic Iorfa has trained but is not yet fit to return, while fellow defender Akin Famewo is also stepping up his recovery and wideman Anthony Musaba remains out.

Sheffield Wednesday starting XI: Beadle, Valery, Ihiekwe, Lowe, Johnson, Shea Charles, Armstrong, Bannan, Windass, Smith, Gassama

Subs: Pierce Charles, Valentin, Otegbayo, Hatsuse, Ingelsson, Chalobah, Paterson, Cissoko, Ugbo

  13. 'A team are going to score against us'published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February

Burnley v Sheffield Wednesday (20:00 GMT)

Burnley Football Club manager Scott ParkerImage source, Getty Images

Scott Parker's third caution of the campaign during Burnley's 0-0 draw at Preston North End last Saturday means the boss won't be in the technical area to see his side attempt to keep a 12th consecutive league clean sheet, although he will be in the changing room before and after the game and at half-time.

"It’s something that every manager seems to face at some point in the season," said Parker, adding that he is curious to see his players' reaction if - OK, let's say when - they concede another Championship goal.

"There'll definitely come a point where a team are going to score against us. There may be an element of shock, and our reaction from that would be another learning [opportunity] for all of us."

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl believes the Owls need a perfect performance for a positive result, while 10-goal top scorer Josh Windass is in no mood for a defeatist attitude despite the Clarets' astonishing level of impenetrability.

"It's crazy that you can go into a Championship game and people are asking if you're going to be able to score," he reckons, arriving as part of an Owls squad who have won their last two away games but lost at home to Coventry City six days ago.

“But that's how well they're defending. We are a team that does score goals – so if anyone can go out there and score, it could be us.”

Bristol City's only change is a forced one.

George Tanner comes in to replace the injured Ross McCrorie, who is likely to face six weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Michael Carrick makes three changes to his Middlesbrough starting XI.

Anfernee Dijksteel and Delano Burgzorg come in as Luke Ayling, George Edmundson and Daniel Barlaser rotate to the bench.

Dael Fry returns to the starting line-up after missing out on the loss to Watford but Ryan Giles doesn't make the trip due to illness.

Tommy Conway is named up front to face his former side.

After their fifth defeat in six games against Watford on Saturday, Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick said there was "no sugar-coating" where his team were at - in the kind of form that can end their promotion hopes quickly.

Four defeats on the spin have seen them fall to 11th, although they're still only four points outside the top six with a game in hand on the sides around them.

Forward Tommy Conway has admitted to feeling the fans' frustrations as he prepares to return to his old stomping ground of Ashton Gate.

The 22-year-old left boyhood club Bristol City for Boro in the summer on what he refers to as "a bit of a sour note" but he has hit the ground running at the Riverside, scoring eight goals in 23 games.

Bristol City have been a bit hit and miss since the turn of the year, but still find themselves only two points below the play-offs in a congested table.

Bristol City could be the biggest winners today.

Victory over Middlesbrough would take them up to sixth and into a play-off spot, with Coventry and West Brom set to meet Preston North End and Oxford United tomorrow.

A Boro win would see them reignite their play-off push after a slump in recent weeks.

Sheffield Wednesday could go level on points with Albion but goal difference would see them just the wrong side of the play-off line.

It'd be a feat of sporting legends if they put even one past a Burnley side who have not conceded a league goal in more than 1,000 minutes and are looking to keep pace with the top two.

Good evening and welcome to Friday night in the EFL.

The weekend kicks off with four promotion contenders in action as Burnley take on Sheffield Wednesday, while Middlesbrough visit Bristol City.

Things are creeping closer and closer to crunch time and with three out of four of tonight's teams pushing for a play-off place and the other vying for an automatic promotion slot, each lost point is starting to carry a little more weight.

Who will soar and who will stumble?

    Keep tuned to find out.
