Jay: There's no reason Sangakkara shouldn't do a SAF on his retirement. Still way too good and can walk into any team.

Larry North: #Scots will be up now, #Sangakkara looks streaky at best here. Can't imagine he was in his skipper's ear to bat at the toss.

    Wishful thinking Larry!

Some sloppy fielding from Kyle Coetzer at mid-on as he lets Sangakkara get another boundary from a whipped drive through the leg side. He was slow to get down and get some grass stains on his trousers.

  4. SL 46-1 (Dilshan 29, Sangakkara 12)published at 04:10 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Bowling change for Scotland and on comes Josh Davey to replace Alasdair Evans. Dilshan crashes a decent length delivery down the ground for four. Nice bit of placement and use of the bottom hand as it finds the gap between the bowler and mid-on. He picks up four more with a neat extra cover drive. Sri Lanka starting to tick over as we reach the end of the mandatory powerplay.

"If Kumar Sangakkara gets another century he will be the player to make four consecutive World Cup hundreds and also four consecutive ODI 100s."

  6. SL 36-1 (Dilshan 19, Sangakkara 12)published at 04:06 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Bit of a miscued drive from Sangakkara from a well pitched-up delivery from Taylor. It's in the air for a while, but safely away from the fielders, A fine chase to the point boundary saves a single.

  8. SL 32-1 (Dilshan 18, Sangakkara 9)published at 04:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Here we go. Sangakkara opens up his boundary count for the day with a cover drive full of exquisite timing. The ball races across the outfield for four. Looks like he's "booking himself in for bed and breakfast" as Geoffrey Boycott would say.

  9. SL 27-1 (Dilshan 18, Sangakkara 4)published at 04:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

More tidy stuff from Rob Taylor as these two look to get themselves settled in for the afternoon. Five dot balls from a decent line and length before Sangakkara picks up a single to keep the strike.

An encouraging wicket-taking over from Alasdair Evans, which began with him dropping too short to Dilshan and the right-hander pulled him away for four. Sangakkara gets going first ball with a neat push down the ground for three.

An early breakthrough for Scotland and it's the struggling Thirimanne who goes. Evans drifts a pitched-up ball outside off to the left-hander and it's edged to Scotland captain Preston Mommsen at second slip, who takes a fine catch. That brings in World Cup run-machine Kumar Sangakkara.

  14. SL 16-0 (Dilshan 11, Thirimanne 4)published at 03:50 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

More steady stuff from Rob Taylor and Thirimanne is taking his time to get going here. He tentatively pushes at one outside off and misses as the ball goes through to wicketkeeper Matthew Cross. He's used up 20 balls so far in a curious start.

  16. SL 15-0 (Dilshan 10, Thirimanne 4)published at 03:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Thirimanne pulls a ball away from Evans down to long leg. It's in the air for a while, but easily safe of the fielder. Not a huge amount so far to alarm either batsman or in fact to interest the bowlers much. It looks like a get in and cash-in deck.

  17. SL 12-0 (Dilshan 9, Thirimanne 3)published at 03:44 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

A fairly sedate second over from Taylor until Thirimanne takes a fancy to a juicy half volley and lofts the ball over the infield for a couple. Television cameras cut away to the figure of one Paul Collingwood - part of Scotland's coaching team for this World Cup.

  18. SL 9-0 (Dilshan 8, Thirimanne 1)published at 03:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2015

Alasdair Evans gets to share the new ball for Scotland rather than Josh Davey. Evans, a tall right-armer, gets well and truly dispatched by Dilshan as his gentle opening half volley is crashed to the cover boundary for four. Dilshan looks hungry for runs here today as he tries to repeat the stroke off the next ball, but mistimes. Thiramanne is more watchful by comparison and chooses to have a look to begin win.
