West Indies captain Darren Sammy: "We're disappointed, but we're not going to let it dampen our spirits. They played well and we need to find a way to chase down those small totals.

"We have a semi-final and we're looking forward to that. We've done the most important part, which is get through to the last four.

"We were just looking to win the match. It would have been good to win all four, but we understand that this was the only one we could afford to lose in terms of winning the trophy."

Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai: "Winning this match very important, we needed one win in this tournament after missing two good chances to get one. Today the guys played really well. We thought we might be short 15 runs or so, but we still bowled very well and fielded very well, Najib especially."

The captains are down having a natter now, Stanikzai's speaking at about a million miles an hour, but you can't blame him really can you?

West Indies' women have beaten India to qualify for the semi-finals.

It means England need to beat Pakistan this afternoon to be sure of qualification - as a defeat would leave them risking elimination on net run-rate.

What a brilliant victory for Afghanistan. Hugely deserved not just for today but for their spirited display against England, and for giving Sri Lanka a big scare in their opening game, too.

Plenty of drama in the women's game too. Jhulan Goswami has hit a six, been run out for 25, and India need 10 from the last over to win - and send England through to the semi-finals.

Chris Gayle (rested today by West Indies) is down there on the pitch joining in the celebrations with the Afghani players. Lovely to see. 

So no clean sweep for West Indies but they still finish top of the group, meaning England finish second and will play New Zealand in the semi-finals, as we thought.

But this is all about Afghanistan. This, the biggest win in their cricketing history, will take some celebrating.
