He looked extremely surprised because he plays it low. That's the issue with Misbah on bouncy tracks. He's just not entirely there with the angle. He played a low shot to that and could have been lot easier had he stood taller and played with a straighter bat.
Misbah c Hales b Woakes 15 (Pak 316-5)
That should wake up any sleepyheads - Woakes is rewarded for his persistent line and length as he finds the edge of captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who is pouched at gully by Alex Hales - who dropped Yasir Shah off Woakes' first ball this morning.

Pak 316-4
Edged by Misbah - and flies between second and third slip for four. Did that carry? Joe Root, who reacted late, makes out that it didn't. Had he been half a pace closer, and half a pace to his right, it might have done. And on such small margins are cricket matches decided. Misbah guides Broad for an on-driven four and the bowler kicks the turf in frustration. A single brings Younus on strike - he square-drives a four past point to move to 99...

When Younus is striking the ball like that you know he's in touch. He's been in good touch this innings. He's played a valuable innings for Pakistan.

Misbah adds a single, while Younus continues to show Woakes a straight bat - it's been a sunny day in Kennington but some shadows are just starting to creep across the pitch. Finally Younus breaks the shackles with a careful off-drive for four - he has 95 from 132 balls, and wipes his face at the end of the over with a light green flannel. Some cheers for the Pakistan 300.

Younus has just one score in the 90s in his career, which came in 2001 against New Zealand.
Younus 91, Misbah 5
Stuart Broad will get the new ball from the other end - with James Anderson remaining inscrutable behind a pair of reflective sunglasses in the outfield. Younus, within sniffing distance of a 32nd Test century, matches his captain by playing out a maiden over.

These are the two best batsmen for Pakistan to see off this new ball threat. If England can make inroads, it will be an open game. It's such a critical phase of the day, of the game. They need to find an edge. Younus can struggle against the new ball, when he's jumping around.
Pak 298-4
The new cherry is handed, not to Anderson or Broad, but to Chris Woakes. Pakistan captain Misbah is assured in defence and plays out a maiden. There are 12 overs remaining today.

The second new ball could just lift England a little bit. Let's see how Misbah and Younus play this important session.
Younus 91, Misbah 5
The last over with the old ball goes to Finn, and Younus unleashes a bloodthirsty cut shot which disappears for four, HotSpot showing it came right off the meat of the bat. A two gets him into the 90s. And the second new ball is available.
While we wait for England to get the new ball, brought on by fourth umpire Rob Bailey, take another look at this superb catch from Stuart Broad which removed Shafiq.

England have played 142 Test matches since Gareth Batty last appeared.
New ball available in one over
England are racing through these last overs before the new ball. Woakes sends down an uneventful maiden over to the watchful Misbah.

How can we get someone on the moon, yet we can't get phone signals in some places in this country? Tim Peake ran a marathon on the space station, and yet my phone can't get a signal.
78 overs
Steven Finn has taken two of the three wickets to fall today, Younus is looking to take what runs he can before the new ball arrives - and while he's jumping around in his crease again, it's proving effective as he moves up to 83 from 116 balls.

Not once has anyone mentioned Ian Bell this summer? If Younis is playing at 42 why can't Bell at 34?

After that solitary over of Root, England turn back to Chris Woakes at the Vauxhall End, although he'll probably only get a couple of overs before the new ball is taken. Younus helps himself to another four down the leg side.
