  1. Eng 212-4published at 36 overs

    Stokes 43, Bairstow 28

Jason Roy, having fallen 13 short of a century, has donned an England woolly hat to watch from the balcony, he might need it when he is fielding later. A little exchange of glances between Umar Gul and Bairstow and the next ball from the Pakistan seamer is short, but in-form Jonny confidently swats it away behind square for three.

Peter Beck: Justifying the selection of Morgan over Bairstow is becoming increasingly difficult in my view.

  3. Eng 206-4published at 35 overs

    Run-rate 5.89

Imad continues and he restricts the big-hitting England middle order duo to three singles, with three dots to finish the over.

  5. Eng 203-4published at 34 overs

    Stokes 39, Bairstow 23

Successive fours into the leg-side from Bairstow off Hasan keep the runs flowing, but the rate is still a fraction below six with 16 overs remaining. Time for a drink. I'd prefer a Bovril to an isotonic on a day like this.

England will hope for a few more of these from Stokes in the closing stages of the innings.

  7. Eng 193-4published at 33 overs

    Imad 1-22 off 7

Imad Wasim back in the attack with his unusual whirling arm as he creeps up to the crease. A Stokes backfoot thump goes through the cover fielder's hands and brings the left-hander two runs - and that will have smarted on a bracing autumnal afternoon.

Vikas Yadav: With the quality of Pakistan has I think score of 250 is sufficient.

  9. Eng 187-4published at 32 overs

    Stokes 35, Bairstow 11

If that delivery from Chris was a cricketing horror story, this was a thing of beauty, a classical cover drive from Bairstow off Hasan Ali  thundering to the boundary, before a purposefully run two takes the Yorkshireman into double figures.

It's the sort of surface where you won't always feel in, but you'll also feel that boundaries are on offer because they are short straight.

  12. 6 runs

    Eng 179-4published at 31 overs

    Stokes 34, Bairstow 4

Stokes ups the ante with another six down the ground off Nawaz, England's 28th maximum of the series, although 16 came in one match of course.

  13. Eng 170-4published at 30 overs

Amir is up in excess of 88mph and he concedes just a single from this one. England scored 240 in the last 20 overs in that incredible match at Trent Bridge the other day. Unlikely here isn't it?

Here's Roy forgetting where the fielder was.

  15. Eng 169-4published at 29 overs

    Stokes 26, Bairstow 3

Should be rather more entertainment from this team as well, Andy, particularly if these two stay at the crease for a while. Jonny has that high backlift full of aggressive intent but he is content to bide his time and plays a Boycottian forward defensive stroke to Nawaz.

    Amir 2-37 from 6

Jonny Bairstow is the new man, he has lost the beard which is a good thing, it made him look a little too much like an extra from Braveheart in my view. His first ball goes straight though him but he soon gets off the mark with a typically pugnacious pull to deep mid-wicket for two.

Roy will be disappointed with that because the field told him what Amir was going to bowl.

That's well done to Amir. Two plans he has put in place today have come off - one to get rid of Hales and now Roy. That's a pretty key wicket, with England looking to up the run-rate.

    Roy c Hasan b Amir 87 (Eng 164-4)

Short ball, paddled away and, after a momentary misjudgement, Hasan takes the catch on the mid-wicket fence, to the delight of the swathes of Pakistan followers in the large stand behind him.
