Stokes is trying to push England on but he's coming perilously close to getting out. He skews a Mortaza slower delivery to cover. It's high but catchable, and the fielder makes a real meal of it. In and back out of the hands.

Massive drop there from Mamadullah. Stokes has been aggressive and has the potential to take the game away. With this partnership between Duckett and Stokes worth more than a hundred, England could be looking at a dangerous score on this wicket.
Stokes does the sensible thing after being dropped: steals a single and has a quiet word with himself at the other end. It's tight bowling from Taskin though and England have to settle for singles.

Ben Stokes, you lucky man! Another good start from Taskin and Stokes, down the pitch, absolutely leathers the ball to mid-on. Mahmudullah watches it into his hands, then falls to the side and spills it. That was hit hard and he just couldn't keep it under control.

It is not just us club players who suffer debut nightmares. It happens to the pros as well. I'll let ex-Derbyshire player James Pyemont explain...
Bagged a king pair on County Championship debut on TV - Derbyshire v Surrey in 1999. Not ideal. Wasn't even at the crease long enough for my 5 minutes of fame...

Mortaza brings himself back to have a bowl at Stokes. The second ball is wide and a fine dive at cover cuts it off. It's good stuff from Mortaza, limiting the England pair to singles as the score keeps ticking over. Stokes is fast approaching his highest ODI score - he made 75 against Pakistan in Cardiff.

chris_mea: Played in pub team v major sponsor. Told to bowl gently to MD - broke his arm with accidental beamer.
Thomas Bruno: Only game as uni spinner. Don't bat so proud of my 1 run. Our total was beat with opening bowlers still on so I never had a bowl.
Ooh, where did that come from? Taskin gets one to nip back and Stokes, prodding forward, is beaten all ends up. Stokes has a prod at the wicket and then responds by clubbing the ball over Taskin's head for four. He uses his feet so well, getting right to the pitch of the ball. Taskin ends the over with a full toss that Stokes dabs away for a single.

Back in 2001 I was dating a girl who did the lunches for Rushen Cricket Team.
I got a late call up based on my golf prowess and my association with said lady.
Didn’t bat or bowl for my own team, but as the opposition where a man down I was allowed to field for them and caught a “worldy” at gully to dismiss our number 3 who was the star player and son of the captain.
Didn’t get a second “cap”.

Stokes has gone a fetching shade of red - it is seriously hot out there. Not that it stops him from dancing down the wicket and tonking Mahmudullah over long-on for six. The two run a quick two, which is no mean feat when it's that hot. Duckett rounds off a successful over with a reverse sweep that runs away to the boundary.

Chris Watson: Called up (15) for local village team as last min replacement. Didn't bat or bowl, umpired but knew half the rules. Never again!
Paddy Murphy: A friend's team was short, bowled a 13 ball over, my own team was asking the umpire to remove me. Haven't bowled since.
Taskin continues, and Duckett has a flash and is beaten outside off-stump. He's starting to get a little frustrated with Stokes going so well at the other end. That's a belter of a shot though, as the Northants man steps to the off-side and scoops the ball over the keepers head. One bounce, and that's gone for four. Taskin ends the over with a nice cutter that sneaks under Duckett's attempt at a pull.

A wonderful 50 by Ben Stokes, coming in at 63-3 and not being afraid to counter-attack. Starting your innings against spin is always tricky but Stokes has shown a mixture of power and panache in changing the nature of the game.

Thanks, Phil. Somehow I can't see the same happening today, but you never know...
Spinner Mahmudullah returns as the crowd crank up the Mexican wave. It's a tight over until the fifth ball, which Stokes reverse sweeps to the boundary. That's his half-century and it's come from 46 balls. Can he go on and double it?
One home fan holds a banner which reads 'Taskin - the power of Bangladesh'. No pressure young un. He makes a good start. A good one, with a bit of nastiness - courtesy of a ball that darts up from short of a length and right past Duckett's nose.
Stokes has the final word, though, flicking one off his legs and fine for four.
I'm off for a rest down at fine leg. Here is Amy Lofthouse to see you through the remainder of England's innings.
P.s. The last time I handed over to Amy, England went on to score the highest one-day total of all-time. #notachance.

First job done by this pair. Bangladesh would have hoped to bowl spin for the majority of this middle section but Stokes and Duckett have forced Mortaza's hand to turn back to seam.
This is a masterclass in reclaiming control of a game from Ben Stokes. He is mixing grit with glamour. Mosharraf suffers again as the Durham all-rounder fires one high into the Dhaka air and over the rope at cow corner.
#bbccricket - Disastrous call-ups
Jack Burrow: Playing as a "ringer" for boss's team, dropped one, scored 3, got to bat again as only had 9 men...out a second time for 4
Paul Haydock: Phoned at 12 for game. Round m25 on bike. Arrived to be told I'm next in. Quick change into whites. LBW 3rd ball way outside off
Martin Jones: Were desperate for a player. In steps James Butler who dropped 3 catches and got a golden duck. Not played since
Stokes is reducing the margin for error from the home bowlers. He latches on to a short ball from Mosaddek and hoists him through midwicket for four before reverse-sweeping for another boundary.
