    Disastrous debuts - tms@bbc.co.uk

Played at Lord's on the Nursery Ground straight after a 17-hour flight. Dropped two catches, 0-66 off 5 overs including one six that hit the roof of the Media Centre with a massive clang, and then was out for one. Rather wish I'd gone to bed, tea was good though.

Stokes goes big again. Down on one knee he finds the middle - as the sweetness of the sound testifies - to send the ball flying into the stand. He then pushes one down the ground for a single that brings up the 50 of what has been a very good partnership. They are building something very good here.

Ben Duckett is using his fast hands and picking the gaps nicely, keeping the run-rate at fives. If this pair can stay together and build over the next 10 overs, they can set England up for a good score.

Occasionally, the odd ball is just popping up off this pitch. Duckett goes down to sweep and catches one on the grill. It shows how you can't fully relax and on this surface.

Another bowling change for Bangladesh and it is to introduce more spin in the form of Mosharraf Hossain. The left-armer prompts a huge appeal from the home side as Duckett looks to reverse sweep and is caught on the pad. Risky shot, but he gets away with it. The 100 is up for the tourists, who are battling back.

Stokes is on the pull and he's picking up a cracker. He rocks back and smacks Mosaddek into the stand behind midwicket for six. All muscle, that. He is an invaluable presence in the England middle order. In fact, he'd be such a figure in any side in the world.

  8. Eng 90-3published at 18 overs

Duckett goes from strength to strength. He picks off the last ball of an otherwise good over from Shakib by dancing down and going aerial for a four down the ground.

Wily old tricks coming out from Bangladesh. I thought they did a good job to change it up early against Vince and Roy. This is an England team with a lot of changes, so they are going to have to find a way to cash some runs in. It looks like it's going to be tough going.

Duckett's shirt is already clinging to him. It looks like he's been swimming. Not English conditions these. We like it hot, but not this hot. Duckett's temperament remains cool, though. He belts one over midwicket for four and then brings out a well-executed reverse sweep. Impressive. Most impressive.

    #bbccricket - Disastrous call-ups

Mattie Morgan: Late call up to brother-in-law's team after unbeaten century - out first ball and sulked in pavilion for rest of day.

Andy K: Called up for my 1st XI match after 3 1/2yrs in 2nds..bowled 4ovrs for 72 & dropped a 40ft skier at mid on, never played again.

Pitched Outside Leg: Age 12, school 1st Xl scorer, team all 17/18. Called up when one short. Third man both ends, trod on and broke Grimshaw's specs.

This will be a testing time for Stokes and Duckett. Both are naturally aggressive players needing to rebuild on a pitch that is holding up. Will be testing and require patience against the spinners.

Duckett has acquitted himself well so far. He looks solid but isn't afraid to play a shot or two in a pressure situation. Shakib tosses one up and the Northants man is on it in a flash to loft down the ground for four.

The over ends with the home side roaring. They think they have Stokes stumped and review when the appeal is turned down. Nervous wait for Stokes and England... not out. His toe was anchored to the crease throughout the shot.

    And that is drinks.

A massive reset is needed. These two players like to be aggressive. It is an important tour for Ben Duckett, who needs to cash in in a way James Vince couldn't. England need time to settle in and rebuild in this middle phase before they go for it at the end.

These fans will seek out every vantage point they can, including sitting precariously on a jutting-out rooftop overlooking one stand. Needless to say, they haven't risked carrying a massive stuffed tiger up there with them. Mosaddek keeps it tight - just one run off the over.

On comes Mahmudullah - so good he only needs one name. A very early time for Ben Stokes to be in for the tourists. For the first time in a while, this England one-day line-up now looks somewhat exposed. It is a very aggressive 11. It needs some relative stability and calm now.

  18. Eng 64-3published at 13 overs

Another good over for the home side. One run, one run out. Make no mistake, this is a proper test for England now.

With Bairstow and Duckett at the crease, I expected the running between the wickets to be swift... but that was a crazy run.

Bairstow run out 0 (Eng 63-3)

Jonny Bairstow presses the self-destruct button. In his desperation to get off the mark he takes what looks to be a risky and is proven to be a suicidal quick single. Sabbir Rahman - the man at mid-off - is on in a flash and throws down the wickets. Not even a dive can save Bairstow. Bangladesh now well on top.
