It has been another rollercoaster day in what is a brilliant Test match. England were up, then they were down and have ended the day back in the ascendancy.

Stokes' display is a reminder as to what the fast bowlers can do on these surfaces. It's easy to chuck the ball to your spinner in these conditions but this will give the likes of Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes hope.

England's Ben Stokes: "We did really well to take the wickets [in the morning] and after the start we had we're very happy to have a 260-270 lead.

"It's almost as if the seamers come on to give the spinners a break here, whereas in England it's the other way around. But out here reverse swing is pretty important for us.

"I've been working on my defensive game. If you can back your defence and get through the hard times out here, it will stand you in good stead."

England's Jonny Bairstow: "I'm really pleased to keep contributing. Stokesy set the platform before we got together. We knew we needed a couple of partnerships to get us into a strong position leading into the next two days.

"I'm pretty pleased with the way I'm catching the ball also. It's going to be pretty tough out there again tomorrow but you know that you're always in the game when it's turning and keeping a bit low.

Mark Vincent: Was decidedly glum when the English wickets were tumbling this morning. Great pick up from Bairstow and Stokes.

It's a tough Test match. There was a danger this would be a bit of a walkover. We've seen young players from Bangladesh come in and challenge England.

If England aren't able to get Bangladesh three or four down tomorrow, there's a good chunk of time when the batsmen could settle in for 50 or 60 overs with the soft ball. There are some really skilled batsman in the Bangladesh line-up.

What I liked about Stokes and Bairstow's partnership is that they were playing in conditions which don't suit their natural game. Stokes found the perfect balance between knocking the ball into gaps and hitting the boundaries. He's changed the course of the Test match.  

Ian Ochiltree: Another fantastic Test Match, and another thrilling finish coming. This has been one of the best years of cricket I can remember.

Ben Hall: one of the best performances by an England player for ages from Ben Stokes today in totally unfavourable conditions.

Paul Mackereth: Excellent bowling at the tail followed by a professional middle/lower order batting performance from England.

Bangladesh will be frustrated. They were set for 300 in the first innings but Shakib set the tone, going for the big swipe in the first over of the day and being stumped.

England are in a powerful position to press for victory tomorrow. It's not always been the case today, but a stand of 127 between two busy players in Stokes and Bairstow turned things around.

No problems for Broad with the last two balls. That is your lot. We go again tomorrow, with England in the strongest position.

It hit the pad. He missed it by some distance. The players aren't too bothered - it's just taking time out of the game.

Oh, go on then, let's end with a review. Broad stabs at Shakib's full ball and it pops up straight to short leg. Huge home appeals. Broad looks unflustered. Finger stays down. Upstairs we go.

Why have they brought drinks out? There are two balls to go!

A puff of dust and a spitting ball from Taijul. It is not comfortable for Woakes, but there will be a few very interested figures in the England dressing room. Woakes gets a couple with a sweep.

Two overs left. We're totally reliant on the floodlights now. The sun has done one.

Len: We need a lead of 300 if we are to be seen as favourites. Such an important partnership between Woakes and Broad now.

So, England see these overs off and come back tomorrow for a dart to 300? That'd work for me. We haven't had an attacking stroke for some time now. Broad adds a single to the tourists total with a little scoop to short fine leg.
