Mushfiqur is running out of options. Someone has to come up and break this partnership, otherwise the game is getting away from Bangladesh.

He only needs a few moments to compose himself, though, offering a defiant thumb to show he is OK, like the T-800 at the end of Terminator 2. To underline the point, he swivels and smashes a short ball to the rope. Get that filth away from me. The partnership is now 100.

England's lead reaches 200. It looked a long way away when Moeen Ali fell to leave the tourists 62-5. Stokes and Bairstow have put on 94 since then and the lack of noise from the stands tells you that this is slipping away from Bangladesh.

KC, Watford: Please remind me who one day said that Stokes only got his runs when there was no pressure. Obviously they didn't see him score his 100 in Perth when his partner Kevin somebody threw his wicket away. 

Shafiul is drawing a few loose strokes from Bairstow, who clearly wants a piece of the pace he has been deprived of for most of the innings. One attempted cut shot could easily have taken a nick to Mushfiqur. The wicketkeeper takes a little stroll to shake it off and refocus. Head in the game, Jonny.

Mahmudullah failed his audition. He is replaced by Shakib, who doesn't fare any better as Bairstow rocks back and slices the ball away to the rope through gully.

A group of home fans are stood on their seats trying to dance some life into their team. One of them is wearing a wizard's hat. Probably wishes he could expelliarmus this England pair out of the innings.

Mushfiqur goes for seam. Shafiul delivers just the second over of it in 52 overs. He prompts a desperate roar from the crowd by striking Stokes on the pad but it was clearly going down. Bairstow is in a bit of bother later in the over with an inside edge past the stumps. Just a little lapse in concentration. Got away with it.

Mushfiqur kicks the dirt as his latest punt, Mahmudullah, drops in a long hop that is cut away for four by Stokes. A total gimme. He drops short again with his last ball and is spared ythe concession of a further boundary by a man on the rope at cow corner. What now Mushfiqur?

Stokes is a fierce a competitor - in fact he's fierce in a lot of ways. I wouldn't want to fall out with him.

The home fans try to prompt something from their team with chants of 'Bangladesh, Bangladesh'. In the middle, though, England are on top. These two look calm and composed with a clear plan. Mehedi is worked around for five runs as the tourists move closer to a 200 lead.

England could easily be 240-250 ahead by the end of the day, The key is how well these two are batting together, they are making it look easy, putting the bad balls away clinically.

This is top class from England. When the bad ball comes, put it away. Other than that, pick up the odd single and stay solid. Classic Test attitude.

Ebony has just been describing the scoreboard here in Bangladesh, which is worked manually by men on ladders. None of the new-age digital stuff. I miss manual scoreboards. There's nothing like the sound of a giant metal wheel whirring round when someone belts a boundary or the noise of a youngster sorting through tins to put up the runs required. Meanwhile, out in the middle Stokes does just that, smacking Mehedi through the leg side.
