Stokes has been probing that off-stump and he just got it to tail in. England will feel they have got a rounded attack now.

Brilliant Ben Stokes. Just brilliant. Kamrul shoulders arms and loses his off stump to a ball that darts back in. England have come out meaning business this morning, led by their ginger all-rounder, who ends with 4-26 from 14 overs. Class.

England will start their second innings with a 45-run lead.

Brilliant from Stokes, we know conditions are difficult for seamers out here but he has the ability to get the reverse swing. Brilliant to see England have a seamer prepared to bend his back and get the movement. He's changing the game here.

    Sabbir c Cook b Stokes 19 (Ban 248-9)

It is one of those. If you are an England fan it is out. If you're Bangladesh, it is not out. Slowed down it looks like it might have grounded but the video umpire feels Cook had his fingers under the ball so Sabbir has to go. Stokes has been fantastic this morning.

Whenever they review a low catch it can always look questionable.

    Ban 248-8

We're not doing straight-forward wickets in this match. England think they have their man as Sabbir edges a Stokes ball to the diving Cook at slip. Did it fully carry, though? Are his fingers underneath the ball?

Important that Sabbir stays around for his team when every run in important. He has been hit by Ben Stokes but he has looked good so far.

  10. Ban 248-8published at 85 overs

I'm not sure that reviewed lbw was so clear cut. Ultraedge looked to start to spike a fraction before the ball reached the bat. It's moot now but Bairstow maybe had a point. The pressure remains firmly on the home side.

    Ban 245-8

That won't go down well with the England skipper. It was bat first. A review wasted.

  12. Umpire reviewpublished at 84.1 overs

Jonny Bairstow is convinced this is out. Adil Rashid's ball pitches on leg and skips on to Sabbir. Is it bat first or pad? We're about to find out...

Speaking to Tamim yesterday he said the first 30 overs is when the ball spins the most but after 30 overs the wicket seems to settle down. So I would think about opening with two spinners for Bangladesh.

  14. Ban 245-8published at 84 overs

    Sabbir 17, Taijul 2

Stokes does his fellow flame-haired colleague Bairstow no favours with a loose ball down leg that has the keeper diving to get a glove on but also cause a bit of damage to his finger. Off comes the glove for a bit of prodding and grimacing at the affected digit before play continues. Bairstow isn't the only one in the wars. Sabbir takes a short ball from Stokes into the side of the grill and needs a few moments and some water to compose himself. Stokes came in like a wrecking ball.

After yesterday it was evenly poised, the first hour was always important today. I'm sure they must have had plans but I still can't find the words for that shot by Shakib.

Shahid Butt: Bangladesh established players so obsessed with making scores they left their best batsmen w/ no partners. Not team players.

I think it would be fair to say that Taijul is not picking Rashid. Two googlies dart away from the left-hander, who dangles his bat in hope.

randrewh: England, all of a sudden, are favourites again. This is proper Test match cricket. We should win from here.

    Eng 293

Stokes - who has been bang on it this morning - now has Taijul to intimidate. The batsman is backing away from ball one but gets off the mark with a single after hanging his bat at the ball (possibly with his eyes closed). Sabbir is Bangladesh's last hope of getting near the England total now.

Who would have thought Shakib would have played that shot to the second ball of the morning, knowing that if they could have survived the first hour they could have got a first innings lead. I still can't believe it. Have a look at it, it's a new day.
