Mehedi lbw Stokes 1 (Ban 239-8)
Yep. Out. The ball was flattening leg stump. Not even umpire's call. No heroics with the bat from Mehedi to go with his bowling achievements. England's excellent morning continues.

Review time again. The on-field call is out as Mehedi is trapped in front by Stokes. He went back and was bang in front. Looks out to me.
He already has six wickets to his name and now Mehedi Hasan Miraz has the chance to further impress on debut. He is no mug with the bat, averaging over 40 in first-class games. He is off the mark with a little flick to leg for a single.

It was a good little ploy from Cook, he didn't want to take the new ball just yet and it would have been a big ask for Rashid to take the shiny new ball and control it. I would be inclined to bide my time now and keep Rashid on for two or three overs.
Shafiul c Broad b Rashid 2 (Ban 237-7)
England don't take the new ball but they do go for a new bowler and it pays immediate dividend. Adil Rashid lofts one up and Shafiul lofts a drive to Stuart Broad at mid-on.

Andrew Benton: Stumped! Just getting nice and comfy as there's another exciting start to the day's play! Intriguing day in the offing...
Poor Shafiul. This isn't his bag at all. He is edging closer and closer to the square-leg umpire as Stokes charges in and peppers him outside off. One delivery beats the batsman all ends up and misses off stick by a centimeter or two.
The new ball is now available.

I think the best move for Moeen is to go round the wicket because if he misses you've got a good chance of lbw. It's one of those games where, if someone hits two boundaries, you can feel the pendulum swing in the match.

Just picking up on things from around the camp last night, they are not entirely convinced by this technology.

After Shafiul escapes strike with a single, Sabbir finally middles a few - two sweep shots that both go for four.
Ban 228-6
The bat is close but it is pad first. It is in-line but just clipping leg stump. Umpire's call. We stay as we are. England are out of reviews. They'll get two fresh ones in a couple of overs, though.

I think this will be not out. Dharmasena, inevitably, is the umpire. He does play a shot at it though.
Ban 228-6
Shafiul, surrounded by four close men and the keeper, prods forward to Moeen and there is some pad in the shot. Up go England, down stays the finger. We are going upstairs.

Arjun Sohanpal: Made my cup of tea BEFORE the innings started today- Moeen on the money second ball. What a hero, and the best cuppa so far.

Sabbir releases some of the pressure with an edge for four - his first runs in Test cricket. Another edge flies wide of Rashid at gully and brings Sabbir a couple. He then inside edges into the leg side. Runs, but they were hardly convincingly accrued.

I've been having a discussion with my girlfriend, and expressed my surprise at the number of umpiring decisions overturned over just two days of this Test match. However, Laura suggested that, as considerably fewer matches have been played on Bangladeshi pitches than other Test grounds, umpires will be basing their decisions based on prior knowledge and experience on slightly more predictable pitches.
This is compounded by the fact that spinners are getting more turn with the new ball, and seamers/swing bowlers are getting more movement than usual with the older ball.

I don't think this crowd are expecting much from Shafiul. Just getting a bat on the ball is prompting applause from the still modest home crowd. He survives the spin without scoring. England keeping up the early pressure.

The locals will be disappointed to get into the ground and see that Shakib is out. He's the local pin-up boy. He's on more advertising hoardings than anyone else.
Ben Stokes made the breakthrough for England late yesterday and he is entrusted with the second over of today. Shafiul gets the first run of the day, and off the mark, with a tentative push to cover for a single. The only run of the over.
