Ex-England spinner on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It's hit the grille twice. Had he not been wearing a helmet, it would have been fine. It was good awareness from Moeen. He could have just walked off, not realising.

  2. Not outpublished at 07:57 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

No. The ball hit the helmet of the short-leg fielder before it was caught and Moeen spotted it. The replays confirm it so not out is the decision.

But this could be trouble. Has Moeen, king of the reviews in the first innings, been caught?

  4. Eng 36-3published at 15 overs

Mehedi rattling through his overs, good for the over-rate but difficult for some of us to keep up with. Moeen picks up a two and a single with relative ease.

I assume you are courting animated replies Robert?

  6. Eng 33-3published at 14 overs

    Ballance 2, Moeen 3

Shakib continues with his slow left-arm and he has a slip, a leg gully and a short-leg all waiting expectantly like children around a Christmas tree. Both batsmen collect singles and Ballance nudges one just short of the diving leg gully.

  7. Eng 31-3published at 13 overs

    England lead by 76

Moeen collected two with a sweep off Mehedi that led to the injury for the beleaguered Kamrul, who was helped off the field.

  8. ouch!

    Eng 31-3published at 12.3 overs

Kamrul has not had a good match, no wickets and no runs and he has now jarred his knee in the outfield saving a boundary.

  9. Eng 28-3published at 12 overs

    England lead by 73

Calm defence from Moeen and it's a wicket maiden for Shakib, slightly atoning for that ludicrous shot he played to the second ball of the morning. Seems an eternity ago now.

A reminder that the morning session saw eight wickets fall for 55 runs. England lead by 73 but their best two batsmen are out and only seven wickets remain. Let's see what happens next. Shakib to complete his over.

Thanks Phil, Bangladesh are having a huddle just beyond the boundary. We keep it more retrained in the office, I've got a a tea, Phil has coffee. Moeen will be the new batsman, he punches gloves with Gary Ballance and they make their way to the centre.

  14. What is a winning score?published at 07:33 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

With what has happened this morning it inevitably leads to the question: how many do England need here?

I'd suggest a minimum lead of 200. Anything less than that and Bangladesh will fancy their chances of chasing it down.

But this wicket isn't going to get any better.

I'm amazed that England have taken Cook on this tour. Surely, it would have been better to try out a couple of new openers at the same time? I know he probably wants time in Indian-like conditions, but given his experience I'm not sure that is necessary.

This, along with the absence of a top-quality spinner, are the two areas hampering this side from true greatness.

Talking about teams using just one seamer in the match, a couple of recent examples, last year India had just Ishant Sharma and earlier this year Sri Lanka had only Nuwan Pradeep.
