Saha is one of those few players in international cricket who is clearly a keeper first. He's not come through as a batsman and been made into a keeper. He's old-fashioned.

It's not easy for Jonny out there behind the stumps, he's picked up a few bruises and Stokes sends one way down the leg side that cannot be collected and trickles away for the 19th bye of the innings.

There's the weathering of a storm by the India batsmen. The biggest threat comes from Rashid, who is bowling well.

Saha wants that little tap sweep again but Rashid spins one that bounces over the bat and thuds into Bairstow's shoulder behind the bails, accruing two byes.

Ten overs gone in Colombo and England women are 42-0 against Sri Lanka. A win here and England will qualify for the World Cup next summer - which is taking place on home soil.

All-round talisman Ben Stokes into the attack for the first time today and Saha tentatively edges him, but it bisects keeper and slip, Bairstow cannot reach it and it bounces short of Cook, racing away for four more.

Broad diving again at backward point to field an Ashwin cut at Rashid and he has taken a big chunk of skin out of his bowling hand as it plunged into the turf. I am not good with blood so I am not going to look too closely, but it is going to require treatment and he leaves the field.

Ansari has a slip and leg slip but it is Broad at backward point who is called into action, tumbling down from 6ft 6ins like a felled tree to save a certain boundary.

Saha plays that sweep again for two more and it is beginning to frustrate Rashid, who will not have seen it too often. It's a deft little stroke, played into the ground and it has been effective so far.
