This is lovely bowling from Adil Rashid - exactly what you want from your leg-break bowler.

    Ind 368-6 (169 runs behind)

Rashid is causing all manner of problems for the batsmen now with some delightful looping deliveries spinning prodigiously. No success this time but England will be very happy with the first hour. Time for drinks.

I think Kohli was done by the bounce. He thought he'd pull it, but it got big on him and he went back a little more to cut it and trod on his own stumps.

Too short from Ansari. There is turn but Ashwin has time to wait and steer it away past backward point to the boundary.

There's a twist in this game, perhaps. I'm not sure if England have enough time to win... but they're taking wickets and on their way to a first innings lead.

  8. Ind 361-6published at 120 overs

Wriddhiman Saha is the new batsman and India have lost their last four wickets for 43, either side of days three and four.

Kohli hit wicket b Rashid 40 (Ind 361-6)

Extraordinary scenes. One thing we were not expecting was the Indian captain to tread on his stumps. He played back to Rashid, hit it nicely out to deep mid-wicket but with everyone looking at the ball, Kohli's left foot had gently dislodged the bails.

Ashwin knows a thing or two about spin, having taken 222 Test wickets, and he cuts Ansari away for his first boundary.

Teddy Hale: Wow! What a wicket from the Surrey spinner! Keep bowling like that and India will be in trouble.

  12. Ind 353-5published at 118 overs

    Kohli 40, Ashwin 3

Rashid runs through his box of tricks again. There is plenty of variety but both batsmen collect singles, the tall figure of Ashwin looking purposeful. No reason why he shouldn't, he has four Test centuries to his name.

  13. Ind 351-5published at 117 overs

Ravichandran Ashwin is the new batsman and he gets off the mark immediately with a clip through mid-wicket for two. Can England wrap up the remaining five wickets with enough of a lead to be influential?

Rahane played and missed at Broad, was airy-fairy against Rashid - I didn't like the way he was playing, he wasn't secure. Bowlers on this surface have a chance on this pitch. The batsmen have to get in. Rahane wasn't playing himself in, he was too fluid.

    Rahane b Ansari 13 (Ind 349-5)

Ansari returns and gets the breakthrough, the ball straightening as Rahane tried to turn to leg off the back foot and clipping the top of the timbers.

When you start on this pitch, you have to be circumspect. You are not sure of the bounce and the spin, but once you get those first 20 runs it's still a lovely pitch to bat on.

  17. Ind 346-4published at 116 overs

    191 runs behind

England turn to Rashid. The mercurial leg-spinner teases Rahane wide of off-stump, he has a lunge at it and it rears up and away between keeper and slip to the boundary. But there was no edge, just spin, and it is signalled as byes.

Rahane has been working hard on playing the short ball after being hit on the helmet at Indore against New Zealand. That's important because if you have a perceived weakness, you will get more than your fair share of bouncers.

  19. Ind 339-4published at 115 overs

    Kohli 36, Rahane 10

Woakes tries from round the wicket with a short one to Rahane, who takes on the pull shot and dispatches it just wide of Root at square-leg for his first boundary.
