Stokes is quickly developing an aura in international cricket but even he cannot break through this time, even with a short mid-on, short mid-off and short extra-cover.

Do you think the relative performances of India's and England's spinners in this match could change India's view of the kind of wickets they want for the remaining Tests?

Moeen tries his luck from round the wicket but swiftly reverts back over. There is a loud appeal as Ashwin gets a long way forward but England decide not to gamble on their one remaining review.

Alastair Cook hit his 30th Test century earlier today - but is he England's greatest ever captain?
Or would your vote go to Michael Vaughan, Douglas Jardine or Brian Close? Or any of the others on our 13-man shortlist?
Today is your last chance to vote - we'll be announcing the winner tomorrow.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match SpecialStokes had a terrific tour with the ball in Bangladesh, and he's rightly gaining a reputation as someone who can make something happen. But if nothing happens after two overs, I think they'll go back to the spinners.

England turn to their talisman again, Stokes. There surely won't be many matches in which he is the fourth change bowler in both innings. A hint of movement in the air but Kohli is up to the task and negotiates a maiden with relative calm.

Jack Mendel: Kohli stays in, India draw. Kohli gets out, India lose. Think it's probably that simple.

Still the five close catchers and plenty of excitable chat for the batsmen to contend with but Ashwin drives an over-pitched delivery from Moeen for his second boundary.

09:44 GMT 13 November 2016There are two reviews remaining and England ask for one here as Ashwin gets well forward to Moeen. Was he playing a shot?

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match SpecialThis is the best Test match Adil Rashid has had for England. He's bowled with more control than I've seen him have playing for England, and the English spinners have caused as many problems as the Indian spinners - we weren't expecting that.

Ashwin releases the shackles, clipping Rashid off the back foot for two more, and he looks quietly obdurate again.

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match SpecialAshwin's the sort of senior character who you can rely on, and Kohli's the captain. But if England can get one more wicket, they're into the Sahas and the Jadejas, and there will be real unease in the India dressing-room. I think England have the right bowlers on.

Moeen has three close catches on the leg side and you could barely get the proverbial Rizla paper between them. There are also two close in on the off side. Kohli edges one on to the pad but it flies low to silly mid-on, one of the few areas where there is not a fielder.

Jack Beecroft: This is why Test cricket is the best. The dynamics can change in an instant. England proving many doubters wrong.

Rashid drops short and Ashwin is on the back foot, punching the ball with a perfectly straight bat to the boundary to some relieved cheers from the crowd. They all still look rather pensive though.
