That, by the way, is tea. I think that means England will have 35 overs to bat this evening. We wait on news of Haseeb Hameed.

Dave Wood: Ben Stokes, take a bow. Magnificent effort.

Stokes deserves that. He's kept going and going. A magnificent effort from the all-rounder. India have really ground it out today to take some energy out of England's legs.

It's a hard earned five-for. He's been outstanding on this tour with bat and ball and he's had to endure the frustration of a couple of dropped catches. England are clearly disappointed with that lead. I don't think they've done much wrong. There's been no lack of commitment.
26.2-5-73-5
It's a brilliant effort by Ben Stokes, the third five-wicket haul of his career. He had three catches dropped too. And he's England's leading runscorer in this series. He probably drives the team bus as well.
Umesh c Bairstow b Stokes 12 (Ind 417 all out)
There's the last one! Ben Stokes does it again. A straightforward edge behind from Umesh Yadav to Jonny Bairstow. India are 417 all out, a lead of 137.

You can see what's going off out there. Rashid just tosses one up every so often and both batsmen are inclined to have a go. At the moment they're getting away with it.

Adil Rashid is recalled to bowl as Mohammed Shami joins Umesh at the crease. Don't expect this last-wicket pair to hang around. They are here for a good time, not a long time. Umesh almost dislocates a shoulder in a missed swing for the fence, then pinches the strike with another biff to the leg side.

It almost brought a smile to Stokes' face, but not quite. Jayant mowed it and it was a good catch from Moeen Ali. He had to dive to his left but it was in the air long enough for Moeen to recognise the consequences of dropping that one.
Jayant c Moeen b Stokes 55 (Ind 415-9)
Finally England hang on to one. Jayant Yadav's excellent innings is over with a pretty ugly stroke. A Ben Stokes slower ball is wide of the off stump, with Jayant reaching to fetch it to a diving Moeen Ali at short mid-wicket. After two drops in the over, Stokes points to the dressing room. Not only is that where Jayant is heading, it's probably where Stokes wants to be.

Cook will be furious with himself. He knows how much Stokes has busted a gut in this innings. Bairstow just didn't get his glove their in time. It's a chance, but not a drop.
Ind 413-8
You simply can't believe it. Two drops in an over, the second in one Ben Stokes over. This time it's Jayant Yadav opening the face and Jonny Bairstow moves so late his reactions are posthumous. It's not far from the keeper's right, but he has a habit of putting weight on the left foot. He can't get back the other way and fingertips it around the post.

That should have been caught. It wasn’t regulation but it’s one that in these situations you really want to cling on to.
Ind 409-8
This simply has to be taken. Alastair Cook has put down a straightforward catch at a wide slip position, summing up the situation England find themselves in. Umesh Yadav hangs the bat at Ben Stokes, offering Cook some catching practice. The skipper has to move to his right, ball at knee-height, two hands to it, but down.

The shadows are lengthening ever so slightly as the sun continues to shine bright in the cloudless sky. Umesh Yadav, who has now been batting for about 45 minutes, is looking comfortable enough to play a few shots. There is a universal air of relaxation in the India dressing room. Whenever they come to bowl, England will be under the pump. And where is James Anderson???

This is the first time India have had their numbers seven, eight and nine make half-centuries in the same Test innings. It is only the seventh time overall.
Ind 406-8
Jayant Yadav has been very impressive with ball and bat in his two-Test career. Now he has a maiden half-century, one which is batting his side into a winning position and grinding England into the dirt. At this rate, England will still be fielding after tea.

That's out of the meat of the bat and it's gone 70, 80 yards at least. A mow again Mo. In a sense, this is about a par score on this surface. Because of England's predicament after the first innings, it is a very good score.
I've been wondering where Moeen Ali has been, but now he is into the attack I'm slightly confused as to why Adil Rashid wasn't given one more over at Umesh. Having said that, Shane Warne could be bowling and Umesh would look comfortable. Have some of that! A might biff at a slog sweep, over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. 400 up, India have added 201 since losing their sixth wicket.
