England stick with Batty, despite having just taken that wicket. Jayant continues on his watchful way - maybe it was Jadeja's call to launch that assault, rather than a team order to get on with it. Even Umesh has began with dead-batted defence. Don't say the game is about to go to sleep again...

Jadeja decided an assault was needed. I wonder if he'll reflect and think he could have gone on.

Jadeja celebrated his half-century with a Zorro style slash of the bat. If he'd got a ton he might have treated us to a laser show. We'll never know. Umesh Yadav joins his namesake Jayant. He won't hang around. England should be batting before tea.

You have to give credit to Adil Rashid. He bowled it wide so Jadeja had to reach for it and didn't get it in the middle of the bat. Credit to Jadeja. He has taken India to a lead of nearly 100 with the two partnerships with Ashwin and Jayant. Now I think we'll see a bit more of the slogging.

Gone! Ravi Jadeja's eagerness eventually gets the better of him and costs him a maiden Test century. A dance at the returning Adil Rashid, straight up in the air, held by Chris Woakes an inch or two from the long-on rope. Was that assault a Jadeja idea, or was he given the nod? Either way, he's played a quite brilliant innings that will likely turn out to be a match-winner.

Virat Kohli, brew in hand, was out of his seat applauding Jadeja's fourth boundary. You wonder how much damage this is now doing to England. The India lead could get to 150, maybe more. Still Gareth Batty - we've had the same pair of bowlers for more than half an hour since lunch. Any chance of something different?

This just shows you that the pitch is flat. Jadeja has just decided to attack. The short ball was no threat.

The England elders of Cook and Anderson counsel Woakes, with the field not changing but the bowler switching to over the wicket. Jadeja, facial hair of an evil overlord, dances down the track and swipes the final ball to the mid-wicket fence with the swivel of a ballerina. See this Test match, England? It's gone.

This is very similar to the way Adam Gilchrist would have dealt with this kind of bowling. It's only a matter of time before a batsman finds a way around it. England will have to change their attack in terms of the angle, maybe over the wicket.

Wake up, something is happening. Ravi Jadeja has had enough of this nonsense. A step outside the off stump to hammer Woakes through mid-on, then a cut to the point fence. And again! Another hoik down the ground. Three fours from three balls.

In fairness to Gareth Batty, he's been pretty tidy since lunch, it's just that a wicket currently seems as likely to appear as Lord Lucan. The sun is out, the near-empty stadium is quiet and the pitch is flat. That first-innings 283 is being shamed.

Are you just waking up? Morning. England have taken only one wicket and don't look like getting another. Already they will have to overturn the biggest first-innings lead by an overseas team to win a Test in India. At this very moment, the Test and the series are moving further towards the horizon. In the face of this impending doom, Chris Woakes isn't bothering to bowl at the stumps.

Gaps aplenty when Batty is bowling, allowing India to move the ball around. Jadeja, usually a bearded biffer, continues to show incredible restraint. It's like someone else is pretending to be Ravi Jadeja, or that he's undergone some freaky mind-altering treatment. Come back, Ravi. We preferred the old you.

England squad member Zafar Ansari walks the boundary with spin-bowling guru Saqlain Mushtaq, who hasn't missed the breakfast buffet. England continue to pack the off side for Jadeja, Woakes continues to hide the ball, Jadeja continues to be uninterested. Not a great spectacle.

The pitch is flat. It's not doing a great deal. It's strange that not one or two of the individual batsmen have capitalised. England will look back at their first innings - it really was 150 light.
